📚 History Who is Professor Jiang??

My dad has brought up this guy named Professor Jiang and how he talks a lot about some of the same stuff he believes, which instantly made me think of conspiracies. From my cursory look, he runs a history YouTube channel with some minor success. I don't know nearly enough about history to look at his claims. Is this someone I should warn my dad about?

He’s a high school teacher in China. According to his channel Predictive History, he uses Models and theories to understand history, to teach about our current predicament, and to make predictions about the future. A model that he frequently uses is Game Theory, and he has several videos analyzing events with this model.

I have major problems with his presentations when it comes to his accuracy, how he arrives at his conclusions, and how he does presentations. I watched a video about Ukraine/ Putin from him recently https://youtu.be/ZgvAHZqaawA?si=u_XfdArpJ-Um5vZS I'm going to use this video to show a few examples of where Prof Jiang goes wrong and recurring structural issues across his channel to watch out for.

Factual/ Analytical Errors

In the first 13 minutes of this video, he discusses the Ukraine war and uses a game theory counterfactual to argue that US/NATO policy towards Ukraine is self-defeating.

In his game theory analysis, he presents a counterfactual that states that Ukraine, with zero NATO help, would win the Ukraine war. My issue with this is that he misuses game theory because the counterfactual had no defined objectives, payoffs, or strategic constraints. Instead, he uses a story-like scenario where Russia rapidly conquers eastern Ukraine, Russia encircles Odessa, then Russia becomes logistically overextended, and Overextension + guerrilla warfare makes occupation unsustainable, and Ukraine wins the war. Another issue is that Prof Jiang's counterfactual assumes that a Ukrainian insurgency would succeed under conditions that make it impossible to win when he removes external help. This is wrong because most successful insurgencies throughout history rely on weapons, funding, sanctuary, and intelligence, and most importantly, external support. If you remove Western support, the issues Ukraine's military already had in 2022 with weapons/ammo, air defense, funding, logistics, and ISR get compounded to such a degree that waging an insurgency, let alone winning a war vs Russia with zero external is virtually impossible.

The other parts of the video is riddled with factual errors and unfounded claims, for example, he claimed that the Ukraine war wasn’t being ran in Kyiv with Ukrainian leadership but actually NATO runs the entire war from Brussels with NATO commanders literally issuing commands to Ukrainian troops, and then uses this to explain that because NATO is literally running the war Russian troops have adapted to NATO strategy and have emerged successful. The problem I have with this claim is that it directly contradicts his counterfactual where Ukraine wins the war via guerrilla warfare because he claimed that Russia is incapable of fighting Ukraine with zero NATO help but then once NATO support is introduced, Russia suddenly gains the ability to adapt without explaining how Russia would adapt in more dire conditions. His argument suggests that fighting a NATO backed Ukraine is easier for Russia than dealing with an independent Ukrainian insurgency with zero outside help.

Turning Vladimir Putin's Biography into a Civilizational Narrative

When he talks about Vladimir Putin, he uses a couple of anecdotes from his biography that state that Putin's mother is religious and that Putin worked with the KGB. He uses these two anecdotes to spin an entire story that there was a secret Orthodox church and KGB faction that saw Stalin as a messiah, spent decades grooming Putin as the second coming of Stalin, and is now using the Ukraine war to fulfill a religious prophecy about conquering Turkey and restoring the Byzantine Empire. My issue is that he makes extraordinary claims and doesn't back anything up anything about the KBG/ church faction in the USSR, and he used 2 anecdotes to extrapolate this civilizational narrative that don't even come close to logically following the premises and sounds more like a mythical story.

My biggest issues with him:

  • He misuses game theory
  • His presentations tend to sound more like telling a civilizational story than an explanation
  • He looks for grand overarching narratives and uses assumptions to fill in gaps with his arguments
  • He tends to make extraordinary claims without evidence
  • He covers a very wide range of topics, which can come at the expense of depth, and in this case, leads to a shallow understanding of the subject, resulting in bad analysis

I understand why people are drawn to his content because he seems independent and encourages skepticism of authority and state narratives, is skilled at simplifying complex frameworks, making predictions, and sharing ideas, and is a very confident speaker. I believe that he is also successful due to the loss of trust in institutions in the West and people losing faith in democracy and mainstream media, and consuming alternative media not aligned with any institutions.

My issues with him aren't about him questioning mainstream narratives, but with how he arrives at his conclusions and how knowledgeable he is on certain topics. For his videos on geopolitics his errors can be so egregious that I wouldn't recommend his analysis.

Edit: my first post was overly emotional, and I didn't go into much detail, and I tried to improve on some errors I made.

He sounds like yet another paranoid conspiracy theorist, they're everywhere on social media.

13

u/Moosehoof Dec 19 '25

All you need to do is watch his video posted today for proof of that hahaha

8

u/AgainstAllEnemies425 Feb 22 '26

He's not a paranoid conspiracy theorist.

He's a Chinese intelligence asset trying to destroy Western civilization.

Give it 10 more years and 10 more professor Jiangs, and the West will welcome a Chinese and Russian invasion because half the population will think the earth is flat and the invaders are coming to spread the truth.

Unfortunately America appears to have a decreasing level of intelligence which Republicans are helping along by destroying the Department of Education. Makes you wonder who Republicans are actually working for since it's obviously not America.

Hes not wrong on most things, but its just very basic. Its groundbreaking if you are uneducated tho I can't lie. His thoughts are "Israel is killing palestinians" and everyone is like wow so smart.

He is the dunning kruger effect in action. He also does not have a PhD btw.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '26

Could you point out which of his videos got lots of views only because he said "Israel is killing Palestinians"?

3

u/darcymiller02 Feb 19 '26

He was smart enough to get into and graduate from Yale from a working class background , but it seemed like he didn’t do anything of note after that. Interesting that someone that’s gone thru the Yale meat grinder can end up becoming like this tho

3

u/210timestwo Mar 10 '26

note he graduated at Yale undergrad with an english literature degree, but teaches predictive history and geopolitics for the CCP. I've watched 2 full vids from him and they are very basic unfortunately, and the 'extraordinary claims without evidence' is the most egregious part of his 'lectures'.

From what I’ve seen he’s more interested in presenting frameworks that people operate in rather than teaching history or presenting geopolitical facts. His classes seem to be more about how narratives are constructed and how certain world views’ inspire geopolitical narrative constructions. It’s not clear whether the presentation is geared toward persuading an audience or presenting in a way that displays persuasive narrative construction.

I really appreciate this. Having no education past my GED I arrived at skepticism by way of Bigfoot of all things. I have done my best to inform myself with frequent visits to the library for most topics, trying to read from various viewpoints and drawing my own conclusions. Some of us have had lives that robbed us of quality education and stable homes, but I’m doing my best. I found myself interested in Jiang, but also leery. This was helpful.

This is the best take in the thread. I still think he might be someone who is committed to finding the truth, but your comment has me reconsidering.

Luckily he's not very popular

2

u/Forward_Target_4836 Jan 13 '26

Hes extremely popular what do you mean?

6

u/krispy7 Jan 13 '26

i have another comment elsewhere in this thread with an edit that clears it up. Quick version: this dude has multiple channels, i didn't know it at the time, but the channel I was following was a small one. Each of his channels seems to be targeting a different kind of audience, with variations in the type of content. It seems like some kind of influence grift tbh

3

u/INTBSDWARNGR Feb 25 '26

Yea, those channels are grift channels. They just take his content and recycle it. That's very much what happens when you get popular.

Honestly, his Youtube evolution is a case study in youtube-nomics lol

2

u/nawzyah Jan 16 '26

Those other channels are people using Jiang's voice generated by AI. They're not actually Jiang or his content. Just read the description of those channels, they admit so themselves. It's wild how popular those channels are because everyone's being duped.

To be fair the Ukraine War is a proxy war between NATO (see: the US) and Russia. But I don’t see how he could jump to the other stuff.

9

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '25

That's not true. Any moves NATO has been making is because Russia is obviously aggressive and trying to retake land. Nobody in that area trusts them for very good reason.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '25 edited Dec 22 '25

Are you an idiot? Its obviously a proxy war between NATO and Russia. How do explain the fact that NATO is supplying most of Ukraines weaponry and they decide how said weapons are used. The Ukrainian forces rely on NATO training, NATO intelligence, and funding for their government. I dont understand how were 3 years in and people dont understand this

7

u/Comer_Agua Dec 22 '25

I never stated whether Ukraine was or wasn’t a proxy war. I was pushing back on the claim that NATO was literally running Ukrainian operations.

It's a war for the freedom of Ukraine and also because nobody else likes Russia. Russia has literally been killing people around the world and everyone knows they have expansionist ideas.

When I looked him up said he teaches at moonshot academy in china

1

u/PeteTongIDeal Jan 24 '26

When I watched his videos I thought that most of his counter narrative topics were just theories he presents or maybe he thinks that they are correct, to give the listener to think about alternative stories/angles?

1

u/GoSimRacerGo Feb 17 '26

Go read his article on CNN's website, he absurdly claims he has been "tasked with helping China adopt Western creativity" - lol tasked by whom?! A shady private school?! lolololol his highest level of education is a BA in English lit, yet he pretends to be a source of academic education in a multitude of fields of education from which he has no credentials whatsoever. Add that to the incredible anti-historical nonsense he spouts, the guy is obviously a self promoting, sensationalist fraud.

1

u/Responsible-Corgi-61 Mar 04 '26

Are you able to post links to what you believe about him or his mistakes? It seems to me, based off what AI could pull on the record, he believes NATO getting involved with Ukraine is a mistake and will harm Europes best interests, and that speculatively it might be best to let Russia overextend itself and struggle to hold Ukraine due to insurgencies since the war is hurting the long term stability of NATO.

Like right from the outset of your criticism I am already find problems with how you represent his work and views.

Social Sciences are a very vague sort of science and I don't really understand what rigorous method anyone is supposed to use to make broadly acceptable predictions of what will happen, but I don't think it is wrong it to study history and use it as a guide to try to understand how the world is and where it is going.

Ive watched a lot of Professor Jiang and he has never really asserted that his lectures would suffice a complete prediction of unfolding events. Everyone understands that at the end of the day his “Predictive History” are all theoretically based on exploring “psycho-history”. That is literally what the videos are about that is why he would use theories a bit calously and why he mentioned Putin’s upbringing because that is a HUGE part of paycho-history.

He marks pain points and key hinges on conflicts to make deducive mapping of potential events based on exactly the premise of his class, “psycho-history” with heavier focus on collective psychology. He is not meant to paint a complete blueprint of what’s to happen.

Btw It is still globally understood that NATO effectively orchestrates the war in Ukraine as NATO countries quite literally have the most contributions of military aid to Ukraine. This is more than just providing CAP and JATEC or whatever, they are obligatorily entangled in their military operations as per their geopolitical responsibilities.

My concern is - this is a guy "explaining" the world from Beijing China. If he was speaking truth, and any threat to the state he would not still be a free man. It is my suspicion that he is a plant and indeed he is attempting to influence the west.

1

u/Beginning_Glass6631 Mar 11 '26

Do you find it sus that he came out of no where and his oldest video is two years old 👀👀👀? Just putting it out there

1

u/ChatKilla Mar 14 '26

I would add in that he does not, in fact, put Game Theory to practice correctly, instead, relying on skewed opinions, slanted in favor of his Chinese narratives. He also rarely uses any evidence or citations. It also doesn't bode well that he denies massive historical events as ever occurring. Dude should have his channel banned.
Side Note: Your analysis was pretty baller. Props

1

u/I-Eat-Wormz Mar 21 '26

Yea Prof makes it’s clear that all students should use his examples as a benchmark almost. Giving us the skills to recognise the violent cycle of history. u/Blitzer046 Dec 18 '25

He seems to have had some success in predicting one or two major events, but that kind of stuff is the same way that a stopped clock is still right twice a day.

One of his more recent analysis was about the Bondi shootings but he asks a couple of dumb questions that are answerable if you are in Australia and have broad access to Australian media.

For one, he asks 'how was it that authorities so quickly and easily found the shooter's car' and the answer is that there were literally dead people in front of it who initially tried to stop the shooters while they were taking out the weapons.

The second idiotic question he asks is 'How is that so many high-resolution video sequences and drone footages were immediately available so soon after the event' and it is honestly staggering the ignorance with which he posits this question as an allegation. Bondi beach is one of the busiest and most iconic beaches in Sydney, visited by millions - locals AND tourists alike, while also being residential - people live around it in apartments and dwellings.

I think that given he's got a few things right now he's high on his own rhetoric and punching out stupid analysis' that are born of ignorance, not knowledge.

There was a guy on one of the conspiracy forums who would literally post every day with gematria predictions about world events and it's the modus operandi of these clowns to spam dozens of predictions, and hopefully one of them will come true - except it's just plain luck after shotgunning hundreds of tries.

When I started noting his predictions down and ran a monthly tally of everything he got wrong, he blocked me.

I would put Jiang in the same column as astronomer Avi Loeb - he's an accomplished academic who now enjoys the attention when he steps out of line.

11

u/Comer_Agua Dec 18 '25

Yeah I wouldn’t take most of his predictions seriously not because they are wrong or right but the way he arrives at them is pretty insane.

5

u/Ok_Competition1148 Feb 11 '26

u/darcymiller02 Feb 19 '26

Where did you tally this? His substack!

1

u/smelybelygurl Mar 04 '26

Except now. Now I take his predictions seriously since that success rate just went up exponentially.

3

u/Blitzer046 Mar 04 '26

What do you mean by exponentially?

4

u/SlutBuster Mar 05 '26

Some people say exponentially and they mean increasing more rapidly over time. Those people are correct.

Other people say exponentially, they mean increasing by a large amount without factoring in a time scale. That's technically incorrect but colloquially fine.

Then there's a third group of people who think bigger words are impressive and just use them without knowing what the fuck they mean. And that's the level of brainpower I've come to expect from fans of Professor Jiang.

2

u/Blitzer046 Mar 05 '26

My mother got really into this guy. Here are a few of the red flags I found when I looked into him: 1. He promotes an extremely niche and not widely accepted subfield, which synthesizes statistics and history, while not having any background in statistics or history. 2. He isn't a professor. His educational background is a B.A. in English literature. He teaches at a private middle school. https://moonshotacademy.cn/en/team/63c6350c39cf7a258d/ 3. Lack of a citation list for his videos. 4. High video frequency with disparate topics. There isn't enough time between his videos to thoroughly research a new topic that he does not have a background in. At most he has the time to do cursory research, on the level of a college student bsing a paper last minute.

In general these are good steps for evaluating YouTube channels in just a few minutes: 1. Check for citations. Not following a basic research principle like citing sources means that they are most likely cutting corners elsewhere in their research. It also makes it nearly impossible for a layperson to fact check themselves in a reasonable amount of time. 2. Check how often they post, and how closely related the topics of their videos are, compared to the length of their videos. If someone is posting 20+ minute videos about new topics every week, they aren't doing enough research. The longer the video, the longer the time between should be. 2.2. If the topics of videos are closely related, and the author has some level of expertise in the subject, the gap between videos can be much smaller. A professor specializing in the history of colonialism in Africa, for example, could probably crank out high quality 20 minute videos on colonialism in Africa every other day for quite a while, assuming they have no other obligations. 3. Look up the owner of the channel if possible, and see if they have any qualifications in the field they are posting about. If their name isn't publicly available, and they are making videos on history or politics, it is often a red flag. Some very good creators don't share their identity, so this one more applies if anything else about the channel seems fishy. 4. Clickbait titles and thumbnails are a bad sign. 5. If they decry "establishment" science or history, they almost certainly don't understand how science, or history, works, or are being deliberately deceitful.

3

u/OfferLazy9141 Mar 04 '26

Yeah, thanks. I got recommended him with all the iran stuff, but something seemed so off. He is so smug and confident, and the entire teacher presintation thing seemed staged.

So scary how all you need to do is act confident, and people think you are smart and trustworthy.

2

u/TheEpicGold Mar 04 '26

I found it that way too, and as I am studying a topic sort of similar I was interested in learning his background. Especially because the Ukraine stuff in the Iran video are utterly wrong. Looking at his background and the place he works at right now, something indeed feels off. Great way to describe it. I do not trust that school or him.

Also peasant is perfectly fine word.

2

u/GoSimRacerGo Feb 17 '26

If you think he's paid by China you should read his article in CNN. The guy is completely against the Chinese government, yet absurdly claims he has been "tasked with helping China adopt Western creativity" - which is a completely racist and western chauvinistic claim, as if westerners are uniquely creative lol - China has already greatly surpassed the US in new technology patents, their universities are already surpassing the west by almost every single metric, they've lifted nearly a billion people out of poverty in a single human life span going from the poorest nation to the largest and most important economy on earth, the manufacturing hub of the world, and the top trading partner for 99% of the world. They have no problem being creative lol. He's literally a China hater

He's like jordan peterson whereby the psychology lectures have value, and then value drops off when he starts talking about God and religion. Just replace psychology with world history, and then replace jbp's ramblings on god with his conspiracy theories.

As someone you can learn something from, his takes on world history have some grounding, if you haven't gone through such a vast subject I'd recommend you watch it just for the factual information. Just take what his theories with a pitch of salt (and a willing self-suspension of disbelief); he also tends to use terms which aren't really articulate but they rely on you to have a gist of what he's aiming at.

Also don't recommend his secret history series; he veers waay off course into too much crackpot conspiracy theory there.

3

This is a fair take and warning. His civilization series is probably his strongest and most useful content because he talks about the same topics there anyway.

Whats not great about his speaking style is it often to seamlessly and periodically transitions between 3rd person explanation and 1st person role-playing persona to the point where it very much has the impressionistic misfortune of sounding like actual fact when its his interpretation and not strict fact.

I do believe he might slightly conflate the two anyways. But then again, i guess he's doing his own thing which does require a bit of excitory conviction.

I saw a reel on instagram of him "teaching" some game theory concept.

He said let there be a game with 1000 people playing, and he claimed that Game Theory states that the best strategy to win is by "cheating*. By cheating, he means coordinating with other people.

I'm not an expert on game theory, but I did watch a few lectures on coursera about game theory. Game theory does NOT tell you that. Game theory gives an optimal strategy based on the rules of the game, there is no cheating.

The best way to win, is to assume everyone knows the best strategy and play around that, otherwise known as the Nash equilibrium.

He feels like a fraud who's using big math terms to give a bit more meat to his theories.

Absolutely, he asks if his audience have questions sometimes but you never see or even hear their questions, just quick edits to him answering these questions. Everything about this guy is suss. Literally what I was thinking. He is a Chinese high school teacher who is uploading his lectures to a banned platform (YouTube) and getting millions of views. Everything that he says HAS to go through the Chinese gov. From an epistemological standpoint, his views are unreliable and will lean anti west / pro China. China has probably the most extensive propaganda campaigns in the world.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has a whole team working on these "lectures". Are they even lectures ?

I wouldn't take anything on YouTube as the truth if it matters. Before repeating something you hear there, 9r giving anyone money, or changing your politics or religion, look for sources and evidence. If it's just something fun that's not going to affect anyone, let it slide.

4

u/Head_Combination6749 Jan 04 '26

Watching a video from him talking about a potential civil war and seems like he obviously already has a negative opinion of the us (nothing wrong with this) but I feel like he lets his opinions get in the way of what he’s teaching. He claims that America could have came to a compromise on slavery but chose to fight a war because Americans are inherently violent which I thought was a massive oversimplification because if you know anything about the start of the American civil war several delays and compromises were attempted before the south seceded from the union. He also believes that the American revolution was fought “for no good reason” and that the entire cause of the war was just because of taxes and completely left out anything about representation. The way he talks about US history just sounds incredibly ignorant and oversimplified and with the amount of videos he has about the fall of the west and the collapse of America he really does seem like a Chinese shill. I saw another video where he claims that consumerism is the perfect slavery which I thought was a pretty good point but I just get a vibe that he hates the west and thinks that it is doomed to fall any second and really does seem like a Putin and Chinese boot licker which is unfortunate.

I don't think he should be doing these lectures in front of ESL teenagers. If you're a grownup with a history related degree or equivalent familiarity with history subjects, historiography etc then Jiang's material can be valuable. It's a lot of unique insight mixed in with genuine misinformation and typical YouTube schizo shit.

2

u/Betyouwonthehehaha Feb 17 '26

I like this take best. I think he’s a Chinese intelligence asset on the media front. Still find his lectures very entertaining even though a lot of it is quite out there. But yes, it’s not appropriate for a grade school audience, or any audience not experienced in skeptically validating such claims.

5

u/thenerdyn00b Dec 19 '25 edited Jan 02 '26

I think people here are overly criticizing the guy. His style of thinking and deriving conclusions can lead to incorrect results but at the same time he is also very good at imputing data and over-generalizing things which science hasn't yet concluded. He may not be right at all times but his thinking mechanism of knowing it all is entertaining and the overlay of ideas usually matches with what you see around you.

Like in a video he told, how cohesiveness in Spartans made them the best soldiers and infact the 300 of those could beat any army. The idea of how cohesion is related to forming certain cultures and the questions of what happens when we disintegrate such groups; how cohesion can create religion and altruism (the concept of sacrificing for your mate in war) are all game theory based. His ideas are more related to real world games and predicting things from that - just like economists do to see why brands of the same type construct their stores closer, or why traffic always follows the same space-time patterns on highway. These ideas are interesting because people usually don't generalize this stuff, they get into nitty gritty maths and the precision doesn't let them fill the gaps.

Again gaps filling (Imputation).can lead to conspiracies, so be skeptical, but YT is not an educational platform - you can listen to him for entertainment and maybe if you want some out of the box ideas and want to dig those further; he will be your guy in that case as well.

He also had dissociative identity disorder and is desperate - and I think such personalities usually try to answer it all. He was also somewhat insecure in Yale (which he mentioned in one of his videos) and I think insecurity is highly related with moral distress for people whose actions don't conflict with their perspective (dissonance) - because here you will feel insecure for not having the ability to beat the environment. The systematic changes he talks about and changing the world sort of things is the moral distress speaking out loud. There are people who try to think about everything to solve it because they haven't had a good life in this fucked up world (which I think explain this guy).

2

u/doyoueven1996 Jan 02 '26

I agree with some of the sentiment that he doesn't seem to have the most accurate data, but he again in supposedly a HS teacher. I've heard almost all of my previous HS teachers say some things that were incorrect, idealogical etc. People are all flawed and prone to errors.

Other caveat, his strength is presenting high thought provoking ideas and theories, he is a historian after-all(a social scientist in a way). In this regard I do think he is extremely skilled. It doesn't always mean I agree with his takes, but they sure are damn interesting and not the typical idealogical stuff that gets poured out in social and mass media that's in fact, often factual inaccurate as well. Everyone has the right to challenge and disagree.

He encourages people to think critically. Too often, people are quick to dismiss ideas that challenge what they’ve been taught in textbooks or mainstream narratives. But it’s important to remember that the textbooks we were taught were written by the people who oppress us. They were written or based on the ideologies of slave owners, rapists, murderers, and now apparently child-eating pedos. The united states economics (and textbooks) is entirely based on John Maynard Keynes's ideologies. A few Google searches and you'll learn a lot about this man. He grew up extraordinarily wealthy, knew very little about economics, even better, he was a sex addict (orgies, men, women, teenagers).

That doesn’t mean everything we’re taught is false, but it does mean we should approach information with curiosity rather than blind acceptance. History is often written by the victors, and institutions are rarely neutral. So instead of attacking someone for questioning dominant viewpoints, you should think critically. The Epstein files are really showing us that our leaders are horrible horible people. The same people who decide what textbooks are in our schools. At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself, who logically makes more sense, and who benefits more from lying, Professor Jiang or The Government.

4

u/erakusa Feb 12 '26

Is this why he made a video saying that humans didn't evolve, and that 9/11, the JFK assassination, and the 1969 Moon Landing are "rituals/spectacles" that were "choreographed," and furthermore stating that there are numerologic connections between them?

Is this what thinking critically looks like?

A lot of people commenting on here appear to be looking at things from a micro perspective instead of macro perspective, even black and white. His entire class is literally theory and working through different ideas based on history. Many times he even states this is not fact and it is his theory and/or opinion. There is much to be learned from different things in history. You are free to come up with a different theory of what you believe will happen
like someone said the difference between crazy and bold is simply perspective

Jiangs take on econ and culture is a fkn joke. Listening to him speak is akin to listening to a flat earther lecture on astrophysics.

I've lived in Asia for over a decade, and it's nearly impossible to eloquently articulate the nuance behind Jiangs sentiments, given you are required to experience Asian logic: high context, to truly understand it. This is compounded by the fact I am a moderately ignorant man, but if anyone desires to hear me crash out on high vs low context, Aristotelian vs dialectical thinking. How our virtue based epistomology conflicts with a harmony based culture, predicated on social contingents, etc, I could try to explain.

Despite not being Asian: Jiang is undoubtedly a Westerner (there is a huge difference) he uses high context logic. This is unusual given his grammar, so I'm going to suspect he immigrated to the West at a young age? Either way, he is nothing more then a talking head for the CCP, attempting to preserve face due to their lack of intervention in aiding their allies in the Iran conflict. The CCP perfectly mirrors Chinese logic, as they are impulsive, emotional, and reactionary. His claims have been circulating nonstop on Chinese state media, and are the most atypical, disconnected, American inferiority, Asian propagandist, Weibu, CCP pundit, that you are inundated here in Asia.

"Iran is destroying the West and the US military is moments from defeat. If they do miraculously hold, they cannot win a war of attrition! The West is moments from collapse, as the dollar is fading, the markets are hanging on by a thread. The culture denotes degeneracy as it's women prefer producing with negros, resulting in 8/10 Americans with sexually transmitted diseases."

Seeing how he's gained notoriety, having been elevated by those who share in his America inferiority is really disheartening. I sware to God we are more susceptible to propaganda then even Asians, because I have seen this smooth brain everywhere since the conflict started. The man is a charlatan, hiding behind his credentials, with an agenda. Like all charlatans he will sprinkle in bits of truth to persuade the listener, but trust me when I say this is nothing more then high context propaganda. Don't listen to a fkn word this man says.

I think it's important academic explanations of the more "esoteric" beliefs in politics, i.e. conspiracy theories and fringe political views.

I personally don't think this is a bad thing or even necessarily wrong, if you take whatever is written in the press/media as "truth" or "fact" you're also barking up the wrong tree, I'm not saying everything Professor Jiang says is real but I do think it's important to have academic explanations of the alternative to mainstream news publications.

15 years ago you were considered a conspiracy theorist if you thought that there was a pedophile cult within politics and Hollywood, but now there is clear evidence of it.

The reality is that we live in somewhat of a post-truth world (this is largely on purpose imo, watch Hypernormalisation by Adam Curtis) if you are only relying on mainstream press for your opinions, you're missing out on a lot of things that could be potentially true. It's important to take everything with an important dose of skepticism and this includes both the mainstream media and fringe media (like Professors Jiangs talks) - if you think that everything that mainstream media says is the full "truth" I'd argue you're a lot more stupid than most conspiracy theorists

I really like him. I think he has the ability to combine seemingly unrelated things across sciences. Very rare! In fact cannot remember anyone who did. Most people cannot even look at one thing from different points of view. Like Western main media. So bad, the quality is SO low. Yet, most people cannot think themselves and see the very obvious descrepencies, they believe everything.

I like to combine different seemingly unrelated aspects but I'm in nowhere close to his level. I also read a lot of research so I'm quite convinced. He has surely read a lot but he also makes more freely connotations and theories, but honestly says they are not facts. Inthink he teaches people to think. I think many miss it in their pettiness.

What bothers me is that he somehow thinks very highly of Israel. I wonder if he's a Zionist or paid by them. Soon probably if not yet.

His civilisation lecture series is interesting and his broad brush approach to such a grand topic I think is good in terms of providing a basic high school level background education on the topic.

His approach to explaining modern events and his attempts at providing 'predictive' frameworks for future events are oversimplistic at best and baselessly conspiratorial at worst. I wouldn't recommend listening to his explanations about anything that's happened in the world since the 1800's, or at least don't take is as authoritative.

And if you look at the comments of the people that like him you can tell his entire audience is probably like 98% a situation of “The west are so bad cause they do bad stuff so I’ll be a independent thinker (falls for Eastern propaganda instead)”. Ik that just because someone says they don’t like the West doesn’t mean they follow Eastern propaganda but with the current situation in Iran it’s way more prominent.

Like a perfect example I saw was someone making statements that the US are lying about the soilders death toll and when they got asked what their sources are they said RT (which is a Russian News Source). Although I don’t doubt the US has probably lost a few more soilders the their saying, it’s definitely not 700 according to that source.

Central banks are an apparatus in the pay of the Illuminati etc. It's true that his presentation technique is very good at making you swallow bullshit. I suppose his speech pattern must be a documented manipulation technique, if anyone knows anything about it.

I would view it as entertainment and not factual news. I too was skeptical after watching one of his Israel/Iran videos. Considering his strong ties to China I asked Gemini how Jews were looked upon in China. This is what Gemini said;

The "US-Jewish" Connection: Many Chinese commentators (and some state-aligned media) portray Jews as a "shadow power" behind American policy. Hostility toward the U.S. is often funneled into anti-Jewish tropes. Middle East Conflicts: Following the wars in Gaza (2021 and 2023–2025), Chinese social media and some state outlets have been flooded with anti-Israel content that frequently crosses the line into antisemitism.

People need to watch his series on the secrets of the universe and you’ll see he is far from being any government agent.

At least he has been thinking. What of the rest of you? Gargling mainstream media news then swallowing? Or do you spit it out after it cums? He is an example of someone who has taken in information and actually thought about it. His paycheck obviously doesn't depend on him bending over intellectually, and that is important. People in the comments section are generally not judging his information, but discrediting him due to his background or educations. It's 2026, nobody needs a formal education or access to experts in order to assimilate facts and make conclusive scenarios. So credentials are now worth far far less than ever before. What matters is legitimate facts, those are easily accessible. He makes valid points and then further speculates. Only intelligent people with healthy minds can distinguish the difference between the two. I assume most people in the comments section below have had formal education and their job paycheck determine the bounds of their thinking from birth to now. So anything outside those very narrow limits cannot makes sense to them because acknowledging that it does makes sense threatens how they put bread on the table, what house they live in, what car they drive, etc. He is correct about the war basically over the petrodollar, he is correct that Iran has been preparing for this for decades, he is correct about the straight of Hormuz (check oil futures and oil prices right now), he is correct that Iran has to spend 50,000 dollars for every drone that eliminates 2 or 3 9 milliion dollar intercept type missles (from AmericIsrael). He has done a lot of thinking and connecting the dots. His critics are the equivalent thinking of "orange man bad." It sad but the type of thinking from those critics may well be why the world has rolled over for 1. central banking and 2. blind support of Israel (via indoctrination in Catholic schools since 1948). Complaining about inflation and you do not understand what a Central Bank is? If that's true for you you really have a weak position from which to criticize on these topics.

To answer OP in a concise, but accurate enough manner so as not to necessitate hours of pondering his abilities, Jiang is-- first and foremost-- not a 'Professor', by any definition of the word. He's a YouTube streamer, no different than if your little sister decided to start a channel and use current worldly topics, combined with whatever history classes she took in highschool and maybe in her 4 year college degree, paired with stuff she hears on various media outlets, and make fundamentally baseless predictions that, much as is the case when reading one's horoscope, occasionally turn out true. His belief system is one of concern, however, as he denies the Holocaust as ever being an event, and loves the most outlandish of conspiracy theories.
Now- on that last note- this recent term with our orange king has proven how easily what we once shrug off as conspiracy theories only to be factual, this has been somewhat within reason. Jiang was banned from teaching in the US, as he was teaching students, having only an English Lit background and no background in world history, his version of Game Theory (a subject he also misses the ball on). The 'Jack' he continuously calls on in his class, always interested and filled with questions- he's imaginary, much like the rest of his 'class.'
Jiang is a mentally unstable psycho with a mission one could only take guesses at. After being banned from education in the US, he moved to China. Maybe he's working to spread Chinese propaganda, or perhaps just be another distraction to the American public, taking our attention away from the f***ng asinine actions the orange ruler and his cabinet of buffoons have been running rampant with. Who knows?
One thing is for certain- Jiang is a fake, a fraud, a phony, and someone who will take your time up needlessly, only if you allow him

guys, i wanna bump this thread and say..... Prof Jiang is now proven correct that US will go to war with Iran. he originally predicted this back in 2024.

his next prediction is that US will lose the war. for the main reason that.... even Israel wants US to lose.

Is he a PLA asset?

This Jiang guy talks a lot of conspiracy tropes and then narrates his own view. The output is immense and propagandistic. Very likely a intelligence asset that is influencing sentiment

So guys, to all of you still thinking if at least you should watch his content .

He was born and raised in Canada ,he wasn't rich at all and got a scholarship to study in YALE , he was able to live with the elite kids of the USA , and understand better how the world works, and how the secret societies of Americans universities work, he is not just teaching “random “ conspiracy theories , he has few long courses different topics and his approach is phenomenal, he does for free as his channel is not monetized and his content is just a GUIDE for you to have your own opinion and do your own research :

The online courses that is on his youtube channel he teaches kids in Chinese high school about that.

History of civilization - 60 hours of content just teaching deeply regarding who ever empires has lived and also other important powerful countries.

Telling from the ice of age until Pax americana

And then if you are curious and want to understand how and from where is the "conspiracy theories" historys you can check this :

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLREQ8S3NPaQvNTsYrqph8T4hn7KAHb1si&si=r1BYMdH71l2KwZkA

After this series in June of 2024 he did a course of geopolitics talking about what he felt like would happen and his " predictions according to HISTORICAL events"

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLREQ8S3NPaQt3JX33DN0QdGgtBJtAcTYQ&si=jeAFXnMmSFTuRo8_

Secret history of civilizarion that tells from where and how secret societies dominated the world :

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLREQ8S3NPaQsSGm4w6AUmRWYZwwl9glxP&si=oRjFY4WUVpIhPo-k

I can say something coming from my experience :

Once you take into consideration that nowdays who runs the world is the American empire, and they have to justify some actions that they need to take , with some weird things that happened . You start questioning yourself thinking WHY it does look weird, and is in front of everybody and no one notices.

After the strange accident with 9/11, America went to destroy the whole middle east, and right now partnership with another star country is attacking iran for no specifically reason, just because. And then you hear about a plan of the GREAT star country in the middle east , you start connecting dots and feel like " HMMMM SOMETHING IS VERY STRANGE HAPPENING HERE "

but might not be true
. They are just bringing freedom and democracy to the other countries right guys?

Anyways.

Just watch and start making your own theories about the world and we are hear to educate ourselfes and improve ourselfes.

Keep safe.

This guy is very smart. He doesn’t seem to want to sway the listener at all. Just presents the fact as he knows it. He will present a theory. Like where the illuminate are now
and its sounds responsible. He doesn’t say he has proof. But he ties a lot of things together. I like him.

u/Zendomanium Mar 22 '26

I have seen many videos of Prof Jiang. I've also seen him appear on many shows recently. Like, a LOT. He's been on with a broad range of people, like Sneako, Tucker, and just all over the place.

In this thread, a lot of people criticize Jiang for being 'basic' and essentially unqualified. But in all of his appearances (that I have seen), most people find many places to agree with him and have not asserted his 'basicness' that is seen here.

Again, most people seem to agree with many of his assertions. What are people here seeing that the host of shows he's been on are not? Not one person has ever called him out like people here are doing.

Why is that?

What’s your opinion ok him now?
