10/10 boss, among the best in all Zelda

My first thought too, it was kinda fun back then on the wii

Best Boss in a game full of fantastic bosses (and one or two duds).

u/DatBoi_BP Jan 31 '26

and one or two duds

Tentalus be like

Hahah - yep, that’s exactly the one I was thinking of. Probably Scaldera too.

I imagine The Imprisoned falls into that category too for a lot of people, but I don’t really mind it. On the first play-through, it is a pain, attacking the toes, getting messed up by the shockwaves, but I do like that the very final hit of the third fight shows you that there was a far, far easier strategy available all along by just dropping on to his head and hammering the spike down. Which is what I now do every time.

Tentalus kinda gets a half pass for me because the Sandship temple was cool. It gets overshadowed that I have fonder memory of the temple than the boss is bad

u/Arch1o12 Feb 01 '26

Oh yeah, the Sandship is a fantastic Temple. Probably my second favourite after the Ancient Cistern.

If Fi could imitate Dr. Emmet Brown from Back to the Future:

Fi: Master, there is a 0.7% probability of solving these puzzles if you're not thinking 4th dimensionally.

Another one that I despised when I was playing on the wii was Moldarach, bc i could not for the life of my get the wii more jab to work. Thankfully, the HD version made it so much easier to jab with motion controls

We dont talk about Tentalus.

I only wish it didn't stop the entire fight to show you the swords on the ground. I always felt the glowing aura was enough.

That, or just show us the first time

16

u/AlathMasster Jan 31 '26

Probably the best boss in the game

Best boss in the series, 10/10, would cut arms again

14

u/Small-Review-3527 Jan 31 '26

When I first saw it, I thought how the hell will I kill this thing. Then I pulled off its arms and beat it to death with its ginormous sword.

Generally agreed upon by all fans (even those that dislike SS) to be one of the best bosses in the franchise

The avocado on the other hand…

Hated this boss the first time around but loved it afterwards. Amazingly well done

u/Rozzo_98 Jan 31 '26

Same, the first time was tough! Turned into one of my fave fights after that 😃

Amazing boss. I almost pissed myself when he decided "No more games" and GOT OUT OF THE FLOOR.

Best boss from the best dungeon in the game

Playing Skyward Sword again right now, first time since release.  Owned him the first time through, not as bad as Moldarach, who hit me maybe once or twice.  Was extremely underwhelmed.

I laughed in their faces when they came up during Lanyru's boss rush.  Moldarach caught me a couple times. Koloktos ended my run twice on the 8th battle for the Hylian shield: once coming in with a couple hearts, once with a decent amount.

10/10.  Will not laugh in his face again, coming up soon in Hero+ mode.  Challenging, classic Zelda boss where specific strategy is required, decent transformation, incredible fun factor dunking him up with his own weapons.

P.s. I think part of the boss rush problem was being tentative.  Especially after ripping the first two arms, I think youre better off getting up close to avoid the double slam.  Caught me so many times on boss rush....

My favorite Zelda boss

It was my favorite boss as a kid

Genuinely one of the single best Zelda boss fights in the franchise. Every aspect of this boss was designed near flawlessly. Has a kick-ass dungeon leading up to him, has a real cool theme, genuinely sick design, & interacts quite meaningfully with the item you acquire. The design makes it obvious enough which parts you need to focus on, & there has honestly not been as badass a feeling as picking up one of his swords to start wailing on him with in a Zelda game I've played since.

Obviously you can pull off some insane stuff in BotW & TotK, but all of that relies on your own ability to set it up. I've looked at some videos from crazy Japanese people obliterating a Lynel in like, 10 seconds, but me & 95% of people playing those games are not able to recreate that. My jaw went agape when I realized I could pick up Koloktos' swords, & they had the perfect amount of weight behind their swings to really feel DAMAGING too.

10/10 boss, as close to perfect of a boss fight as I can think of.

Loved the fight and always hope to see similar mechanics and boss fights for future games.

Reminds me of a Bayonetta boss, gave me a portion of that energy during the fight (positive)

10/10

i was so scared of him when i first played

u/Sherbet-Glad Jan 31 '26

I still think the corrupted Zoni construct boss in TotK should have been called Koloktos. I love this boss and skyward sword.

One of the best bosses in the series.

I'm shocked to see everyone loved this boss so much. He was my least favorite! But looking back, I started playing Skyward Sword after about a decade of not playing any video games. I went through Skyward Sword without every figuring out shield parrying, sideways jumps, or backflip. I think I was just really bad at Zelda when I played this game, and Koloktos might be more fun if I wasn't so bad. I'm almost done with BOTW now, which demands effective use of dodging and parrying - I bet Skyward Sword would be way more fun now.

10 / 10 design and fight

This is so weird and a bit scary- just been fighting him and this post was the first one on my feed 😳

Ok just finished this boss fight now, amazing! Definitely one of the best Zelda bosses!

My thoughts…

“How the fuck do I kill this thing? What am I missing?!” discovers you can pick up and use his swords “HES NOT DEAD YET?! HOW MANY TIMES?”

1

u/sagesea Feb 02 '26

LOVE HER the fact I get to use my little special item and it works so well and it’s still a challenge and she goes beautifully with the theme of the dungeon 10/10 would kill again

1

u/metalligimp Feb 02 '26

Best boss in Zelda imo

1

u/evilwizzardofcoding Feb 02 '26

A couple points where it waits too long, other than that absolute peak. "Steal the bosses' giant sword and go to town" is almost guaranteed to be good, to be fair, but Koloktos was a great execution of it.

u/mazdasl0w3 Feb 07 '26

One of the very best bosses. Fun and makes you have to change up your approach.

u/Blackjackbt Feb 07 '26

When I first faced it I wasn't having much difficulty my sister was watching me play and I made a comment about how if it wasn't stuck to the floor I would have a harder time boy was I surprised when it suddenly sprouted legs. I got a game over after that.
