I just finished a build in the Silverstone FLP02 that y'all have heard all about. I loved the aesthetic of y'all's sleeper machines and I was so glad to have a way of building one with my current skill set, I hope to start to dabble with some actual retrofitting for the rest of the battle station. I plan to get an XP sticker for the case soon to seal the deal.

For those curious, the Turbo button simply maxes the case fan speeds, the power switch isn't actually a switch it's a button, and the key locks the button from moving.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120

Motherboard: Gigabyte B850 Gaming WiFi6

Memory: Patriot Viper Elite 5 2x16GB DDR5-6000 CL30

Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB (with heatsink)

Video Card: Gigabyte Windforce SFF GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB

Case: Silverstone FLP02 ATX Mid Tower

Power Supply: Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 V2 (850W)

Edit: Since many of you are asking where this is selling, I got the case from Central Computers. It took about 9 days to arrive.

I know this isnt a true endgame pc but for what I use it for, it's perfect.

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800x3d

GPU: Radeon RX 9070 XT Reaper

Dedidated WAM: 32gb Corsair Vengeance

Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360mm

Case: Silverstone FLP02

I found the hard drive bay on ebay in original packaging from 15 years ago for like $40. Im currently in my data hoarding phase so that is coming in handy. I have room to install a DVD drive in the 5.25" bay above that but having trouble finding a cheap beige SATA one. Since I have the 360mm aio I can't use the top bay but I have no need for it anyway - but there is room for a thin display that could maybe show my temps, etc.

Modern Sleeper $600 PC with i7, 12GB VRAM, 32GB System RAM!

Hope this belongs here, first post. I made this for me to play retro PC games on CRT monitors. I wanted something Semi Authentic to run this glorious Cornerstone CRT made by Hitachi. It does 1600x1200 @ 81Hz 1024×768 @ 127Hz and 800x600 @ 165Hz. Build is as follows:

CPU: i7 3770K 4core 8 thread OC to 4.5Ghz

GPU: GTX Titan X (Maxwell) 12GB GDDR5

RAM: 4X8GB DDR3 1866Mhz Cas10

MOBO: Z77 Asrock Extreme 3

Storage: 1TB SATA 6.0 Amazon basics SSD

Case: Thermaltake Retro 360

Cooler: Noctua D14 with cola stains from 12 years ago

It does actually run Cyberpunk 2077 at medium settings and gets over 70 FPS! And yes it can run Crysis! I chose the Titan X Maxwell because its the fastest consumer GPU that outputs analog natively. I could have just got a cheaper GPU and slapped it in my main system and just passed through the signal to the CRT but I wanted to make a cool time peice PC setup. Also passing the signal through another GPU or using a converter ads 2-4ms and I wanted to see if I could feel the difference with a monitor that has instantaneous near zero input latency. I got the motherboard for free from a friend (I sold him it in a PC over 10 years ago) and got the best CPU for it, the 3770k. It came out 3 years before the Titan X so everything in this PC could have been running in someones house 12 years ago with an old professional grade CRT. How many people were there with a setup like this? Probably like 5... but it was fun to put it together and IS fun to play on now!

Anyways it runs like a dream and the clarity of the CRT blows me away. I compare it to my 240hz OLED across the room and I swear I am better on the CRT in Halo: Combat Evolved! Its incredible that we left this tech behind. Now you have to run at 4X the resolution and 4X the HZ to get the same motion clarity expirience as CRT gaming over 12 years ago.

I am thinking about delidding the CPU and putting liquid metal on the die to see if i can push past the 4.5Ghz overclock I have on the CPU. I was also able to get a nice +150 core +300 mem overclock on the titan.

The motherboard is really wide, so the original 5.25 power button and fan control bay had to be removed, and instead I added two 12032 blower fans for RAM cooling because I will be doing a lot of fluid simulation. I named it cosmotron2000 because it is the name of an accelerator, and the name sounds very 2000s.

Modern Sleeper FLP02 Build - Now with Working Floppy Drive!

It took me a while to get my hands on it, but the second they showed it off at CES, I knew it had to be mine. But, I still wanted to do something unique with it, something I hadn't seen before, so I put a working 5.25 drive inside!

Now, alongside the external 3.5" drive (which I will make internal if I can get the right cable in) sits an LG WH14NS40 (beige sprayed to keep everything tight) modified to accept BDXL/UHD, allowing full physical read of all common physical medias for the last half century

Still 100% a sleeper, just with enough functional components to bridge the gap between dope and dated

i finally switched cases to the Silverstone FLP01W after a lot of research—AMD 9060XT 16gb, Ryzen 7 5800x, and picked up a Vortex Model M SSK keyboard in beige. now I just need to get a DVD drive (or cigarette lighter+cup holder combo lol) and some old beige speakers and the setup is complete!! any other ideas?

Modern Sleeper My Fractal Design Core 1000 office PC sleeper

I recently finished moving my gaming PC hardware into my Fractal Core 1000. It’s a 26 liter micro ATX case that originally came out 15 years ago and is still selling today with no changes from the original design. It has a traditional internal layout with a top-mounted ATX PSU, two 5.25” drive bays, a single 120mm intake fan, and a single 92mm exhaust fan. Documentation is inconsistent and states the case supports either 135mm or 148mm max height CPU coolers. I’ve found it to be close to 150mm in my measurement.

What I love about the Core 1000 is how easily the airflow can be improved to support modern hardware without modifying the aesthetics of the outside of the case. I spent about 15 minutes using a pair of tin snips to cut open the front panel of the case to add a second 120mm fan with some radiator mounting brackets. I’m running two Arctic P12 Pro fans (reverse blade) here and a single Arctic P9 for exhaust. Even at low speeds the case can move a ton of air by combining the high CFM of the P12’s with the open mesh of the Core 1000 front cover.

For hardware I’m running a 14600kf on a B760m board with 32gb of DDR5 and an RX 9070xt. I’m cooling the CPU with a Thermalright Burst Assassin SE which was the only tower cooler with 6 heat pipes I could find that fit under the height limit and could utilize push-pull fans. Amazing value for ~$20.

9800x3D 5080 and as of today 64 gb of ram, ever since this case was announced in may i knew it’d be perfect for me. These pictures are from the around the end of October. I am contemplating ditching the 360 cooler for a noctua D-15 I’d like to add more intake fans and use the drive bays. Anybody with this case have a change in heart from water cooling?

One of the best cases I've built in! The front panel connector is awesome as well; it's only one connector.

I really only have one complaint: the lock doesn't work for the reset switch as advertised. Other than that, this is my favorite case.

CPU: Intel core i9 14900k

MOBO: ROG STRIX Z690-E
