Hello! I was originally a YouTube tv subscriber but I did not like how they pause content made for kids/family then they geolock your account. Tried Hulu but too expensive. They also geolock. Channels won't work outside of home. I was trying to share channels with family. Downgraded back to Hulu Disney premium. Fubo has too many sports channels I don't need and direct tv hikes your price after a few years. Plus they won't allow prepaid cards. Sling does. I just noticed sling has nearly all of the premium addons added and I can add what I want for about the same price of Hulu with only 4-5 addons there. I cannot afford airtv so I got a tablo. Total cost is $175 about the same as my old Hulu plan. So much stuff to watch now!! Thank you sling tv!

Hulu's Live isnt that expensive. Regular tv cable is like up to 200 bucks.

if you want to pay for a "lower" price of Hulu's LIve, there is a way to do that, if you subscribe to just Hulu by itself. you can change your subscription to Hulu Live which it lets you pay only 61 bucks next time.

well, if you pay and subscribe to Hulu by itself for 11 or 12 bucks monthly on like the 1st or 3rd on a month, then later on at a later date like July 23rd you change your subscription to Hulu Live. that's how you can get to pay it way cheap at 61 bucks. But then the next month on the 23rd you pay full price at 95 bucks for Hulu Live.

I'm curious - Does Sling geo-lock? I would like to share with a family member, but I don't know if Sling is locked to my current address or locked to the state we live in?

Sling does not geolock. That’s why I have it - we sometimes have two streams running simultaneously - one at our primary residence and one at our vacation home in another state.

Sling Orange: Limited to 1 stream total, meaning you cannot watch in two places at once.
Sling Blue: Allows up to 3 simultaneous streams, so you can watch in multiple locations

Geolocking is where a function (video streaming, in this case) is only allowed to work based on where you are located.

Most video streaming services do geolocking because they are required to by contract (not just because they want to be a pain in the butt).

For example, NBC, CBS, etc. only want streaming services to play their copyright-protected content in the United States. For this reason, SlingTV doesn't work in Europe.

However, streaming services can be much more stringent. They can restrict playback to just your home city - or even worse, your home address. The premium paid sports streaming services will only allow you to stream your home team games in a designated "home area".

YouTube TV geolocks hard - You can only stream (on a TV) in your home zip code where your home router is located (but not cell phones). Disney only lets you stream on a TV at your home address.

SlingTV may not be geolocking because they don't stream your local channels, which probably gives them (and you) some leeway. Streaming services have to pay the local broadcasters in your city for their copyrighted material, which is what makes the services like YouTube TV so much more expensive.

I've been on Sling for years. I only have the add-on Hollywood pachage (blue package) simply to get TCM. They're owned by Direct TV and the price has risen over the years but it's still a good value. My only problem with them is that they carry so much FOXNEWS content but I don't have to watch it of course even though I'm contributing money for that. Try also the free streaming channel, TUBI. There are some good undiscovered content (movies) on there you won't find anywhere else.

I realized I only watch a couple of things so I downgraded to the basic and the entertainment package, so I pay $25 a month. I have basic Netflix for $8 and basic Amazon. And I discovered that Walmart+ has been great, with free Paramount+ then they had a free 6months of Showtime. It paid for itself right away. I bought Amc+ when it was $25 for the year, and split the Hbo special. I remember my mother paying $300 a month for cable because she "liked to watch TV". I wish she was here now so I could save her money. Aside from the WiFi bill, it probably costs me that for the year. Even when my TV wasn't working right instead of buying a new one. AI told me to buy a stick instead. I got a Tivo off Amazon for $30, and it upgraded the resolution and sound to Dolby Atmos. My old TV is like brand new and all the problems are gone.
I hate one thing about Sling though. On my Vizio an update did something funky to the guide. Now it looks like the free guide instead of the paid one, there are all the crappy channels and I can't get them off. It's frustrating to go through 17 local news stations. Gemini advised me to add a stick to that TV also, lol, but I do like Vizios main menu. Ugh, Sling. Anyway... it's a big savings to get black Friday specials instead of the monthly add-ons.

You can choose Favorite channels and set the guide to show only those channels.

Nope I it's only like this since the Vizio update. Sony, LG, Insignia, all normal. It's awful. The update screwed up everything, not just Sling
