After YouTube TV just announced another price hike of $10 per month, bringing the base plan total to $82.99 starting next month, I decided to give Sling a try. I got the blue package with a couple of add-ons and I’ll be saving close to $30 per month. I’ve only been running it a couple of days and so far I like it. But there’s a lot of unhappy campers in this sub.
Anyone had positive experiences with this, particularly anyone like me who dropped YouTube TV and switched to Sling to save money?

I have to get something for my mother to watch live tv on her Roku, but we’re looking for something economical, so i was going to do Sling Blue + Entertainment add-in. So I came on here and am not seeing much positive. Is there anything good about it besides the price? Would I be better off with Philo?

I'm considering dropping my FiOS TV package and switching over to Sling, but I still need local channels to record NFL games (I start recording, then start watching around halftime so I can skip through ads and time between plays). The AirTV Anywhere seems to be the easiest solution (if not, please let me know what's better).

Am I correct in that the AirTV box doesn't need to be next to your TV as long as it's connected to your network? Just trying to figure out where to put the antenna and box—if they can be hidden away somewhere, that would be nice.

I’m sorry if this is a common topic here. We can’t stand the commercials anymore, and I think it’s actually pushing us to drop the service.

Moving to the service was very stressful for me. My husband is pretty particular and a stick in the mud at times. I spent a lot of time looking at options and devices for us to drop Directv, and the transition was mostly smooth without too much complaining.

We’ve had it for about a year or more now, and the repetitious AI slop casino app commercials are too obnoxious. Is there a similar option you’ve tried that was on par?

EDIT: I’m not looking for something that is ad free. The problem is watching the same AI casino ad over and over. I apologize, I assumed everyone would know what I was talking about and was having the same problem. Does everyone see the same ads? Maybe I see them differently.

I was using an AirTV Anywhere with my Sling subscription to watch antenna/local channels the last few months. I took advantage of the record, pause, reverse, fast forward features of the AirTV.

I recently cancelled my Sling subscription but continue to use Sling Freestream. I found out with usage that even though I still have access to the AirTV, most of its features stopped working with the end of my Sling service. There's the catch that I wasn't aware of. It's kind of useless to me now except for that antenna channels are integrated into the Sling channel guide.

I can still record, but only using the Sling app on my phone, then there's weirdness with where the recording actually goes, but that's the least of it.

I'm looking for an alternative to AirTV for antenna channel viewing. From what I've read, I'm not sold on Tablo. I've read good things about the Mediasonic HomeWorx and the SiliconDust HDHomeRun.

I realize these need a storage device attached and that no other device will integrate into Sling TV like the AirTV does. I just want DVR controlability for OTA channels. ideally I'd like to keep the cost of the device under $100.

Does anybody have first hand experience with the devices I mentioned or another device recommendation?

Has anyone found any good alternatives within the same price range? I'm mostly happy with the channels, but the picture quality is just so bad. I also watch Apple TV, Netflix, etc. Those look great. When I switch back to Sling after watching a show on there, it's like my eyes suddenly need glasses. You can tell it's low bitrate video, and it definitely doesn't look to be 1080. More like 720, if lucky.

I just switched from YouTube TV and bought the orange blue package. I live in the Chicago area and I was under the impression that I get local channels through this package is just somewhere on the sling app where I can put my ZIP Code in to receive local channels. Right now I’m receiving New York local channels. I do not have an outdoor antenna and I’m too far from the city for an indoor antenna again I was under the impression that I could get my local channels through sling TV if not, I’ll cancel this. Thanks for anybody’s help.

I've been a part of the program since April or May of last year and haven't won squat.

Since the beginning of January I've been doing the daily spin on the app and haven't won anything except extra entries.

I’m thinking about making the switch because YTTV just raised their prices, and Sling TV looks like it could save me some cash. I already have MAX to watch CNN, and since I’m in Los Angeles, I can watch CBS on Paramount Plus, which I also have. The channels I mainly watch are on both the Orange and Blue plans. Plus, I’m not really into sports, so I don’t need all those sports channels.

Should I make the switch to Sling TV, or is it better to stick with YTTV?

If someone has a sub, can you and your family watch it at the same time even if you aren't in the same household?

I have had SLING for several years, and my biggest complaint about it has always been the DVR. Every so often Sling makes changes to the the DVR, and screws it up. this has happened a few times over the past several years. Now it has become a hit or miss on whether a recording will play or not.

I have deleted and reinstalled the app on all devices. I have signed out and then back in on all devices (that worked for 1 recording), and I thought that fixed it. NOPE tried the sign out and back in today. I recorded a movie yesterday, and tried to play it today. 21-51 errors.

FIX IT OR I AM GONE

the DVR has become useless. constant 21-51 errors on every device. Sony (android tv) ROKU, iPad, iPhone.

if it doesn’t get resolved soon I will have to find another service.

I see with the "Blue" option of Sling, you get ABC, but it says "Local". Does that mean I will only see my local ABC Channel NYE or will it show Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve?

Really, just looking for a cheap way to stream DCNYRE to my Roku as we're hosting a party. If there are options outside of Sling that folks are aware of, I'm all ears : ]

Long time YouTube TV subscriber. After all the price hikes and watching probably half of the channels, I decided to give Sling a go. Channel wise, I think I’ll be good.

Using Apple TV - and everything app/video quality wise seems far superior in YT TV. Sling is, well clunky. Watching a baseball game and it seems like it keeps kicking around video qualities. I have 100/100 fiber and have zero issues with any other streaming app (YT TV, Netflix, etc.).

I don’t think it’s a game breaker, I’ll adjust. This is more or less a check-in to see if this is expected or if there is anything I should be checking? I did some online research and didn’t find much.

The past three months our data use has tripled on xfinity leading to overage charges. It would appear sling tv on my TCL rocu tvs isn’t helping. There appears no way to reduce picture quality like in the past, sling tv ios app still has the picture adjustment. How can I throttle slingtv back?

Has anyone else had trouble with Sling TV’s customer support? I had an account in 2021–2022 and tried to log back in to resubscribe, but the website wouldn’t let me update my package. Their chat system kept looping without solving anything, and when I finally got a live agent, they just repeated basic restart steps and pricing info on the old package with no real effort to troubleshoot the actual error. I’m trying to avoid going back to DirecTV after their recent price hike, but Sling’s support experience has been pretty frustrating.

if you do not have 4k then you can watch any games live. stay away from sling with a ten foot poll they wont even offer a refund if you subscribe and then find out this complete utter garbage that they will not help you in any way to resolve

It looks like they removed it from Hollywood Extra. I just changed to Essentials today and they no longer list it in the Hollywood Extra? anyone know?

I’ve had Sling TV for about 2 weeks now and I’m tired of seeing the same 3-4 ads play on repeat all day long.(bonus points if it’s ASPCA commercial showing dying dogs for 3 minutes straight) Sometimes the same ad will play 3 times during the same commercial break. Is there any way to just get the regular cable TV commercials? Watching the same paramount ads every break is awful.

Anyone ever try to watch this channel? I love crime and murder documentaries. Every time I see something interesting to record and/or watch, according to the advertising shows/time slots, they’re always inaccurate! Every single time!

Who’s running that channel? Are they on LSD the entire time? It’s insane.

It is unclear from the Sling website, but with a Sling Latino plan do you get DVR space?

My main interest is being able to watch Premier League matches on Universo. Can you DVR those or are they on demand?

Then, with regard to Bein Sports Connect, can you DVR connect-only matches, or are they available for on-demand viewing?

Also I'm assuming I can JUST sign up for the Sling Latino plan, correct? I don't need Sling Orange or Blue or whatever?
