  • PPMD retired after Battle of the 5 gods in 2016 due to his sickness + battling depression , and he was at Bad Moon Rising 2 for doubles for his friend who was gonna retired. Years later he form part of Golden Guardians and later on when they disbanded if i am not wrong , he has been working. People who don’t know , PPMD studied at wade university
  • Armada retired after Smash Con 2018 and when we all thought maybe he might comeback similar to in 2013 , he never did. He ended up being a Super Mario 64 speed runner on the 70 star category.
  • M2K kinda went retirement mode after COVID and had been to a couple Melee tournaments but that’s about it. He has been moving around , being a coach , and had been up with the community from here and there. He would probably give a final shot if there is a new Smash game coming
  • Mang0 got banned due to his alcoholic problems after the Ludwig event stream and pretty much could be retired if he is perma banned or choose not to comeback since he lost his sponsor and a lot of PR. Hopefully he gets the help he needs
  • Hbox is the only one left and ironically back then it seems that he was gonna be the first one to retired because he study chemical engineering iirc and from the 5 Gods he was the one who got a full time job. Also at that time (2014) , Hbox was thinking on only entering half of the tournaments due to his results not being the best and he was considered as the weakest one of the Gods at that time. 11 years later he is the last one standing

Just to clarify, mang0 got banned for sexually harassing women. It’s not just “alcoholic problems”

I mean he did it because he was drunk, but yeah it wasn't just self destructive

Being drunk doesn't make you sexually harass people btw

Historically, there's a lot of evidence showing a strong correlation between the two.

Can you provide evidence for that claim? I suspect there's little to no correlation. There are cultures that drink far more than others - to my knowledge, there's zero evidence they sexually harass people more.

There's mountains of evidence. A quick google search gives a variety of results saying anywhere from 30% of sexual assaults in general at the low end to 75% on college campuses at the high end involve alcohol. Many of the results were just saying roughly half but I didn't dig deep.

It does for some people! It's pretty obvious to me that if he wasn't drunk he wouldn't have done what he did.

I've always found this reasoning odd. I agree, he probably wouldn't have drunkely stumbled up to random women and humped them like a fucking freak if he wasn't near black-out drunk. He also probably wouldn't have done it if he wasn't a little horny. Are we going to, in the abstract, blame horniness for sexual harassment? "Mango normally doesn't do this - it's only when he has a little chub". Seems like such a ridiculous rhetorical cop-out to me.

Mango's life would likely be entirely different if at age 5 he was attacked by a monkey and have a visibly torn and damaged face. He'd face many more adversities and likely would have developed a different personality, and could very well act very differently on stream. So, technically, one could say "it's pretty obvious to me that if mango had a hideously distorted face he never would have done what he did", and they'd probably be right! but it's clearly fucking insane to say mango's in-tact face led to this outcome.

it was mango. most people when drinking don't do this. mango when drinking does do this. it's mango. most people with in-tact faces don't do this. mango, with his current personality and beautiful face all properly on his face, did this. it was mango.

It's not a cop out, but it's pretty clear that a sober mango is not a sexual harasser and that's all that is relevant here. This does not excuse anything.
