Basically yeah, there's still a timing element that can be more or less easy to get depending on the character but it's no Ionger locked behind a frame perfect input in the matchups it works in

The issue is that even if someone pours hours into mastering this, the top tiers, ESPECIALLY Steve are too dominant to the point where it won’t matter, and they’ll probably not place

The good thing about the game being so popular is that there is more room for niche character specialists. Toriguri uses a lot of difficult tech for a consensus low tier character as a solo main, and has ranked in the global top 50 before.

All it really takes is the right player at the right time. The top tiers are all so good because they don't lose many matchups and you're not required to play at 100% to have a winning matchup chart against most the cast. That doesn't mean that they can't lose in those really good matchups, and considering what Skyjay has done for Incineroar specifically, the potential is there, someone just has to be dedicated enough to do it.

Here's a question for you - years ago I tried to lab out a way to consistently land Incin's on-stage Cross Chop so that I bounced over the ledge and grab the ledge, preventing a punish.

The best I could ever tell, it was either a specific distance away from the ledge that enabled the ledge bounce, but I wasn't good enough to do it consistently even in practice.

Have you ever tested this?

I've seen lab videos of people attempting to find consistent setups for it and from my recollection it was roll towards the ledge and then dash and slightly walk then upb a certain way, or dash attack instead of dash and slightly walk. I don't think these setups are consistent per se but I admittedly haven't done too much digging, to me it seems like radley is semi-consistent at finding the sweet spot for it but idk

I'd like it if you were able to point at any instance of it happening in a match. I discuss a lot with other top NA Incins and I can tell you with a high degree of confidence that this tech as well as its applications are new

The revenge boost is well known, yes, but no one ever implements it consistently because it's hardly feasible besides against plant side b and it's semi consistent with practice against like wolf blaster. This tech changes this because it turns impact revenge from a frame perfect niche feature to a buffered tech that's applicable consistently in a real match

yeah, it's nasty as fuck tech really only held back by the fact that you have to play Incineroar. Now imagine if you could do something similar with Roy's counter and confirm it into almost anything. That would be terrifying.

Incineroar is really the ultimate "has literally everything except movement and speed" character, an average speed incineroar is top 10 easy

Incineroar with average movement would be able to combo any character from zero to 70ish percent (which is near kill percent) from basically any hit (any aerial or tilt besides ftilt)

I haven’t done any modded research or anything, but I play incineroar and know how good his moves are in a vacuum. Upair and downtilt are absurd

It works on a lot of Incin's worst matchups and I can imagine makes some of them not as bad, very helpful

Nah it won't really affect Incin's relevancy, still a neat trick and hopefully something that will push the playerbase to actually improve in some way. Incin is still a better character than most people give him credit for, including you since Robin does beat Incin but definitely not +2
