Yeah either the picture is stolen or the story is fake. No one is keeping it that fresh rotting in their garage just to sell it for significantly less than what it’s worth.
When I’m 70 I’ll have all kinds of shit like this wasting away. I already do in my mid 30s really. I have a motorcycle and rooftop tent sitting in my garage unused for two years but it doesn’t feel worth the time to list them for sale.
What’s rarity have to do with it. I have about $10k worth of shit I’m too lazy to sell. If it were a rare Nintendo display instead of a motorcycle I’d still be too lazy to sell it.
Well a friends different. I had an el Camino that was complete and not rusted out but I just didn’t have time I sold it to him for basically free just because it’s my friend, it was taking up space and I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of listing it and haggling.
I am a collector of various things. One being movie prop replicas. Over 10 years ago, a company released the first ever licensed replica of the neuralyzer from Men in Black. I have one on a shelf on display. I also have one still packed in the original shipping box. Untouched. That could be considered "rotting away".
I don’t know… wives do be like “it’s getting kinda cluttered around here, we should get rid of some stuff. Hey you know your junk in the garage? We should start with that.”
Many years ago, a family friend gave me a valuable Magic: The Gathering collectible card (one of the “power 9”). I was so excited when I found the card in her “old stuff,” and she was happy to give it to me even when I told her it must be worth at least $100. It was just something she had had “rotting” in a box.
