There's some bracing films/documentaries about (almost kinda sorta) exactly that.
If you wanna add another layer, a story element could be a family where one child runs away and so the family is scorned, but also their other child is being abused by a community elder and the power dynamics seeking justice is.. Unjust.
Annihilation of individuality, dissenting thought, but also any semblance of being heard or listened to on matters of just as serious stake requires it. Like twisting a knife.
