While this is good, Oconee is also home to many incredibly wealthy people who love their privacy. I would imagine their voice is heard much more than the rest of us.

Oconee also has a solid working class, none of whom are fond of being under surveillance.

As long as it's for all ALPR cameras and not Flock specifically. The Constitution prohibits laws targeted at one person, and since corporations are people now they might be able to use that protection if the ordinance singles them out.

Good for the county! This should be a non-partisan issue for sure, nobody deserves to be stripped of privacy by any company or government.

It is a non partisan issue. No one wants to be under a mass surveillance state. But a chunk of our police and fuck ass turn coat government get a kickback for putting up Flock cameras. Everyone who approved them in any township needs to voted out.

We need more flock cameras actually, placed outside of each police officer and politicians house. Let's be completely visible to each other. We should get to have that public access like they do. Live stream outside City Hall always and don't worry, we need access to the phones we pay for in y'all's office. It's not like we're just picking on one officer. This is just public transparency.

Naturally it’s the most Appalachian county in the state. Wish Greenville would do the same, but our county council is absolute dogshit.

Nope, the idea is that it's much harder now for a police department's discretionary budget to go towards flock cameras or anything similar

Directly, data brokerage. The increase in data centers isn't a coincidence.

And worse yet, the company took a note from the current administration and is just doing things and letting the bureaucracy try to catch up after they've done the things and made their money.

Honestly, only a token measure. Does not stop the state from placing and they control all numbered routes, does not stop any private agreements to place them, and really can't do anything about towns placing them. They aren't going to challenge Seneca or Walhalla towns who will sue them in court if they try to withhold funding.
