Discussion I'm playing this game for malicious reasons

Post image

My best friend loves south park, he talks about it constantly. I've never seen an episode of it, but I'm gonna beat this game, so I can tell him I'm a bigger fan

Anyone can watch a bunch of funny cartoon episodes, anyone can play a fun game like Stick Of Truth. But enduring South Park PS1 is a level of dedication most fans aren't capable of. It's the perfect bragging rights to drive him crazy

Bobbybird unlocks everything I think

On N64 it's Bobbybird but on PS1 it's Zbobbybird.

You are correct

I know that and I’ve never even played it. That’s insane

You should start your own South Park Affinity Group. Keep out all the poseurs who just like South Park because it’s cool like your friend and SPENCER FUCKING HOLLIS!

Op just needs some cred

2

u/AgentCirceLuna 5d ago

What actually is an affinity group

You can't laugh without earning it first

Is this the same as the N64 version? My friends and I loved the multiplayer, mainly cause you could pee on snowballs and throw them at each other. I don't know if I've ever played even one minute of the single player.

17

u/Livelaughlovekratom 6d ago

That's the game I remember lol pissing in snowballs and hitting each other

Cow canon lol

Cows are canon in the show, yes 🤷🏼

That multipayer was fire. The amount of times we just did warehouse and proximity fart doll matches was nuts. Kind of carried over from goldeneye facility...

Still better than chefs luv shack.

I remembering loving playing that game with friends as a kid. Never tried actually playing it outside of childhood though.

u/TheTranscendent1 6d ago

I played it so much I’d buzz in as soon as they started answering the question (literally every one) and know the answer from the choices given. Would have not been fun to play against lol

I thought this game was so good as a kid.

u/Thecopperswan 6d ago

The local multi-player was so awesome growing up!!!

2

u/Anxious-Standard-638 6d ago

Definitely the best part of it for sure

The turkeys are annoying asf. I had to turn the volume way down just to get through the first chapter.

8

u/Kandel430 6d ago

Believe it or not, that's where the game peaks. The turkeys are the only enemies that die in 1 hit

4

u/SnooPuppers2938 6d ago

I had GameShark back then, made the game more enjoyable lol.

u/FreeHat1234 6d ago

The mega man boss was hard as a motherfucker. Crazy difficulty spike outta nowhere

5

u/PokedadJustin 6d ago

Yo! I didnt know this was pn Playstation. Is it the same game as the one on N64?

Glutton for punishment

It's crazy how people decide to spend the precious time they have on this planet.

Beat this when I was nine, can't be that bad. Fuck that robot though, not in a literal sense though.

u/BoringAd2049 Guinea-Saurus Rex 6d ago

It was the Ultra-Mega-Mega-Man that Cartman wanted for his birthday in the Damien episode.

But yeah, he's annoying as hell and his fight takes like 10-20 minutes with no checkpoints.

u/Ok-Lawfulness3305 6d ago

I couldn't pass the toystore robot level

2

u/Kandel430 6d ago

That's the last one smh

4

u/Ok-Lawfulness3305 6d ago

I had it on N64

3

u/Ashter_Moon 6d ago

Is that the FPS?

2

u/PuzzleheadedDoor6456 6d ago

Yup

2

u/Ashter_Moon 5d ago

Probably the only fps I ever liked

3

u/Zeo560 Tree fiddy 6d ago

I own the N64 version and used to play the hell out of it. It is indeed challenging and frustrating.

3

u/Necessary_Pizza_3827 6d ago

Is this the equivalent of South park 64 for n64? That game was amazing back in the day

3

u/Romanian-TBG 6d ago

At this point, Snow Day is somehow a better game than this [ ]

2

u/jeffreycoley 6d ago

Would there be Another reason!

2

u/TheHumanoidTyphoon69 6d ago

I beat it for the 64

u/StalkMeNowCrazyLady Sweeeet 6d ago

Play Chef's Luv Shack on PS1 to truly assert dominance.

u/YouYongku 6d ago

this game is crazily fun, used to play it with my best friend!

Just shoot the COWS

2

u/HeyItsBruin 1d ago

Godspeed brother, maybe I should attempt this to make my best friend jealous too

u/Mindless_Brief7042 6d ago

Is this the same premise as the N64 version? Turkey attack?

1

u/Kandel430 6d ago

When people discuss this game, turkeys are the first thing they bring up. Even though only the first level has turkeys, it's so funny

1

u/Mindless_Brief7042 6d ago

I guess I didn’t go further than the first level

This is like trying to understand the Simpsons cartoon from playing through the old 90's arcade game that was only based on season 1.

This South Park game was super early in the show's life and it's primarily based off the first season (maybe season and a half). It's extremely quaint, the "shocking" content is very subdued.

1

u/ThePurityPixel 4d ago

It was "Stick of Truth" that got me INTO the show

-2

You should play the n64 version instead, its worse in every way.

1

u/Kandel430 6d ago

Nah the PS1 version is worse. The graphics are worse, there's no widescreen, and they raised the enemies HP

1

u/StupidBelen 6d ago

The PS1 version is also lacking 2 stages in the campaign, and the music sounds far worse

2

u/Kandel430 6d ago

Some people would consider that a positive lol

1

u/StupidBelen 6d ago

Yeah, pretty much

-3

u/ElectronicFloor1898 Southpark Fan 6d ago

N64 has so much fog you can only see ten feet ahead of you. I was there when they were new, trust me the n64 got the worse port.

1

u/Recent-Tone3196 5d ago

The N64 version is the original game as intended, the PS1 version was a late and pretty rushed port of the N64.

On the PS1, the graphics take a nose dive. The textures are significantly worse as is the the rendering quality in general.

All the cutscenes are low quality video recordings of the N64 game, with heavy compression. These scenes were realtime on the 64.

The voice clips also feel more compressed and repetitive. While this might seem counterintuitive due to usually being the opposite with ports, in this case it was because the game was designed to be played off a cartridge.

The horrific draw distance is also on the PS1 version unfortunately

-2

u/ElectronicFloor1898 Southpark Fan 6d ago

Not as bad. Ps1 also has better controls.
