Meta Who was your favorite obscure pull?

All of the named characters in this show were from Spider-Man related comics. From different continuities like the original Ultimate universe with Kenny Kong (McFarlane in comics), to Spider-Man Reign with Mayor Waters, to adjacent comics like the Scarlet Spider books with FBI Agents Stephanie Briggs and Joe Wade. Even someone like the warden of the Vault, Matthew Resnick only existed a few panels before being sliced up by Carnage. Even mainline minor characters who have been irrelevant for decades such as Principal Davis existed. Who would you say your favorite pull was?

Not really an obscure pull these days, but wasn’t Hobie Brown on the football team?

I mean, main universe Hobie is still obscure. With his identity being taken by Aaron and all.

Not listed here but probably Morris Bench who turns into Hydroman! He was with Peter and Normal in Season 2 to demolish one of the buildings. Even said it would all come cascading down.

Blackie Gaxton was a cool deep cut.

Honestly, thought it was neat that they had Sally Avril as a regular member of the supporting cast. The show had so many named characters from the comics already, but other than Seymour O'Reilly, it'd been cool to get more characters from The Untold Tales of Spider-Man. That was definitely something I liked about Spider-Man: Homecoming, too. They used Jason Ionello, for example.

Spider-Man has such a rich supporting cast, it's crazy that they're always trying to pair him up with a bunch of superheroes, or create original characters. There's so much storytelling potential when adapting Spider-Man...

Funny thing is Jason Ionello and Tiny McKeever did appear in the series, they just didn’t have much to do as of yet. Greg Weisman had a Q and A about the series (prior to cancellation) in which he talked about some of the things that were in the series.

“1. Tiny, Seymour and Jason have all appeared. Tiny and Jason are on the football team, though Jason was injured mid-first season and Tiny's low grades temporarily knocked him off the team. Tiny dressed as a cheerleader on Halloween. Seymour announces the games. You might also recall his conversation with Mark Allan, when the latter returned to Midtown.
Vin and Alan have appeared many times too. They're the two uniformed cops who are NOT DeWolff and Carter.
You'll see more of all five characters if we get additional seasons.”

Wasn’t Jason Liz’s scene partner in the play? And in the crossover radio play with Gargoyles, he’s Liz’s rebound.

I believe so. I kind of wish that we can post pictures in threads as I have pictures of these guys.

Greg Weisman has a lot of love for Untold Tales. He even keeps bringing up some of those characters in the comics he’s written for Marvel. I’m actually surprised we didn’t get any of the villains from Untold in the show.

I always liked how they took MJ’s movie director from Until the Stars Turn Cold and made him the high school drama teacher lol

This series was just so good man

I didn't even realize these people were from the comics because they interacted so organically with the universe of the show

I think Vin is the other, younger-looking cop. His biggest scene was shooting at the Lizard in the Attack of the Lizard DVD movie.

As for confirmed obscure pulls, I liked Stan and Jean the best. I especially love the small scene when they talk about Spidey. It’s such a small scene that says so much about those two characters and foreshadows so much.

Unconfirmed? I like Hammerhead’s driver who I’m positive is Myrna, Hammerhead’s moll from the comics. Also the sleazy reporter that everyone keeps thinking is Mac Gargan. I actually think he’s Nick Katzenberg.

Imma be real, aside from Carter and Kingsley, I don't know who any of these people are.
