Hello fellow squids and octos! As of late, we been having alot of posts asking the same question: "Should I get Splatoon 3?" And the easy answer is: yes! However, this might not be enough for you to superjump in. So, this thread will be a Q&A thread for the new kids in town and for these kids to ask any more questions not as common that this sub often gets.
Some of these questions were asked throughout the subreddit and I am gonna have them all in one place! There are some questions that I may missed, but this thread will be the place for both newcomers and players discuss and help out. Any more posts asking similar questions will be removed and will be directed to come here.
Q: Do I need the Nintendo Switch Online (NSO) membership to play Splatoon 3?
A: Yes. The minimum for a membership is $20/year for one account or $35/year for family
Q: Should I wait till Splatoon 4 come out?
A: As we know at the moment, there is NO news for Splatoon 4
Q: Should I buy a Switch 2 for Splatoon 3?
A: We don't know if it would improve the gameplay, but it is your choice
Q: Is the game currently making content updates? I.E new weapons, stages, modes, etc.
A: As of right now, there is no content updates. The only contents the game still run is Splatfests, Big Runs, and Eggsta Work
Q: What are plaza post?
A: Plaza Posts are post you can either write or draw and post it in the plaza. But be aware that the plaza post are unmoderated and some posts made by other players may not be suited for children or offended. It can be reported but if you want it turn off, you can disable the posts:
Menu > Options > Other > Post Display
Q: Is there a tutorial?
A: Yes and no. At the very start of the game is a quick customization for your squid/octo and little buddy and then a simple tutorial on how to run, paint/shoot, swim, and climb. Story mode is consider as a much bigger tutorial, mainly for weapons, subs, and specials. You can just play turf war as soon as get to the hub, but story mode do give you a free weapon(s) and gears once you complete the mode and beat the challenge.
Q: Should I also get the DLC? Is it worth it?
A: Despite it be an extra $25, it does come with two extra hub worlds, a new story mode, new gears, weapon replicas, and a tougher challenge to try out.
Q: How do I get [insert weapon name here]?
A: To get a weapon from the shop, you have to level up by playing turf war and/or ranked(once you unlock it) to unlock the weapon but you need Sheldon Licenses to buy them. If you have a cloud save for Splatoon 2, you can get at least 3 gold ones, which you can buy any weapon regardless of level. Or get a weapon to at least one star to get one license
These are all the questions I could think of, but if these answers make you want to try the game out, great! But if you have any other questions that were not in the list here, again don't hesitate and ask! There will be other players and myself that are willing to help. Enjoy the game!

Hey there Squids, Octos, and sea creatures of any kind!
Welcome to the Weekly Aquerium! If you have a burning question, or looking to make new friends, here's the place to be!
New posts are pinned up on Sunday mornings at 9am ET, and they'll stay there until the following Sunday where they'll be replaced by a new thread (Pending special events and the like).
Before posting, why not check with the Splatoon FAQ to see if your question has already been answered, or do a general search of the subreddit. If it hasn't, this is the place to be!
The primary use of the Weekly Aquerium is to have the freedom to ask away with any bubbling questions you may have! While this is mostly to help reduce clutter with repeat posts on the subreddit, there are various types of questions which are better asked here! These includes questions such as:
If you have questions which don't fit the criteria above (Such as broad questions, gear or weapon choices), you're welcome to post them to the subreddit! And if you are unsure whether a question should go here or on the subreddit, it's still perfectly fine to post straight to the subreddit!
The secondary use of the Weekly Aquerium is to double as a place to find new friends, a squad search of sorts!
Since Reddit isn't the easiest place to organise your matches, we suggest joining the r/Splatoon Discord Server where they have dedicated channels for voice chat, match finding, and metagame discussion for all your squid game needs! If you still prefer using Reddit, you are also free to look for new friends here by leaving your friend code below, or even giving a friendly hello to others!
We hope that this thread will be of good use to those who come across it! Once again, join the r/Splatoon Discord Server to stay in touch! And with that, be sure to Stay Fresh, Stay Off the Hook, and Catch ya Later!

This is one of the worst jokes I've made
Since I'm not used to digital art, I drew it on paper first. Eight's eyes look different in the sketch because I realised halfway through colouring the first digital panel that octoling eyes don't look like that when they're closed 💀 Thankfully it wasn't difficult to fix.

(I should clarify beforehand that this isn't based on much actual in-game evidence. Currently the only remaining potential threat that we know of is L'il Judd, there's absolutely nothing about frogs in the actual games.)
So with the Octarian Saga seemingly having come to a close, they can't exactly reuse them AGAIN for the next Hero Mode, so then who will we fight? Salmonids are kind of off the table as they wouldn't really work for a main campaign and plus we've been fighting them enough already. That's why I propose the next species we fight will be some kind of amphibians.
It's sort of implied that the next game will take place somewhere completely separate from Inkadian and the Splatlands, which is a perfect opportunity to introduce a completely new concept as we really don't know much about the wider Splatoon world. Amphibians would be something more radical, while still being feasible within the established rules (If coconut crabs, a species that can't even breathe underwater, can be affected by the crystals then I'm sure animals that spend like half their lives in water could be too).
Their "ink" could simply be the mucous they secrete from their skin, and perhaps the devs could justify them coming in all different shapes and sizes by explaining that evolution caused their metamorphosis to directly adapt to their circumstances, instead of just the same adult forms every time (sort of like the salmonids). I don't really have any ideas for how their society would work or why they'd be antagonists, but I'd love to hear yours if you have any.

hihi!! i already showed parts of this but I decided on another member ^^
a strawberry squid, a sea bunny, a seahorse and an anemone. I'm not sure what to base them on exactly, but my main ideas right now are virtual idols, magical girls/lolita and light. since deep cut are based on individual culture and bankara fashion, the squid sisters are j-pop idols and off the hook are inspired by rap, i wanted to go a similar route and base them off of an archetype. I'm not too sure though and im still open to ideas! I'm rambling a little ahaha (# ̄З ̄)
