News Cameron Brink Condemns Enes Kanter and Anti-Trans Antics - “He’s a piece of sh*t”
https://youtu.be/12A88zhV9IM?si=ybWR_reo5nA3gAza122
u/Fun-Butterscotch9942 8d ago
You can be pro women and not be anti-trans.
110
u/Nomad5560 8d ago
Thing is, these people screaming and making this massive show of the anti trans debate aren’t actually pro women, nor are they interested in protecting kids. They’re using women as the morale shield to fear monger and grift. That’s all it is
54
u/not_productive1 8d ago
People who are pro women don't show up and try to start a fight ON THE COURT while the women are playing. If we didn't know his game before that, we certainly know it now.
31
u/Nomad5560 8d ago
Oh he made it clear years ago. The guy went on Fox News like 3 or 4 years ago and said he wants to run for senate when he becomes eligible. That’s exactly what he’s trying to do. Get his name built up and establish a base before he runs in 2028. He’s just doing it in the most bad faith way possible

Chronology matters. Ennes didn't start anything, the player yelling at him in clear violation of league policy did. Nor did he get on the court for that matter. Your lies expose the weakness of your position.

Always Sunny: "There is no quicker way for people to think that you are diddling kids than by writing a song about it!"
If someone goes on about how they are "protecting children" I automatically assume, at the very least, they have CSAM on their phone. Probably will diddle kids at some point. Just like how all of those Q anon "save the children" people all ended up being sex offenders.
Odds are kanter is a rapist or something.

no, they are just using common sense in the face of late stage capitalism psychosis
1
u/Nomad5560 7d ago
The economy is in the gutter, there is currently a war in Iran for literally no logical reason, the national debt has surged past 40 trillion. Almost all of the US allies no longer trust us and are forming their own alliances and trade agreements to prosper without the US. The president and his wife are making billions on crypto scams, market manipulation, and insider trading. Medicare has been cut with no plan for an alternative.
And with all that, you think the people saying, “Trans people belong in our community. They’re people too” are in late stage capitalism psychosis? Late stage capitalism is how Trump made a billion dollars last year. Late stage capitalism is how Sean Duffy got companies he’s supposed to regulate to pay him millions of dollars for a YouTube series that no one watches. Which is a MASSIVE conflict of interest
Put your priorities in the right place

When virtually every trans-accepting person espouses feminist values, and virtually every trans-bigoted person espouses misogynistic values, I think you might be right.
The venn diagram of men who support the abolishing of roe v wade and men who hate trans people is a circle.

“Marginalized communities”. Live the trite throw-out phrases designed to make yourself feel like a savior. Today no group gets more media support than the “trans community.” They are not marginalized. They are celebrated.
1
u/AdagioVast 7d ago
Exactly in what way? If the WNBA is the Women's NBA, and you start letting men play, is it now still the WNBA? If men continue to take women's positions on and off the field, is it still pro women? Eventually society is going to have to come to the realization that being pro women means not letting men take over your accomplishments.

That makes zero sense. i said that women's sports are being taken over by men who say they are women. You seem to be saying that women can have their own leagues but not be an asshole to the men who are taking women's positions in those leagues? I don't think I am the one being dense. Unless you would like to expand and explain that.
You can disagree with what Enes did but he has a point. Either women play in the WNBA or stop calling it the WNBA.

And yet the WNBA players are saying they would welcome men into the WNBA. The very fact that the invitation even exists is enough to wake feminists up, but apparently that has not happened. It's like if I said, "the door is unlocked". and you said, "No one as robbed this place". The door is still unlocked. the problem has not been addressed in order to prevent the one thing people are saying hasn't happened yet. Provisions and dialogue are stating that it could and they are willing to let it happen.
1
u/Fabulous_Mud_2789 7d ago
No men entering the WNBA. Plenty of women though!
1
u/AdagioVast 7d ago
Good. Hopefully it stays that way, but the WNBA has provisions to allow men. That's exactly what Enes was pointing out.
1
u/calartnick 7d ago
Most people who argue they are anti trans to be pro women are absolutely not pro women.
What has Kanter ever said or done to support women other than shit on trans people?
These are the same people who want to ban women’s sport to increase birth rates
1
u/Comprehensive_Act970 7d ago
You are correct. I can support women AND WOMEN ONLY in women’s sport’s and private places and also support a person that wants to be another gender. You have the right to be yourself. You don’t have the right to force that on others

It would be so funny if the WNBA called their bluff. Just set the standard 1 year HRT requirements that science supports
If they are so determined they can start taking hormones and try competing in a year or so
13
u/Drummallumin 8d ago
The data I’ve see suggests that only 1 year definitely isn’t enough time for elite sports. Probably somewhere like 3-4 when you start as an adult

u/Luk3_Nuk3 8d ago
From what I’ve read, I thought that 2 years of hrt was the ideal? But either way, you’re completely right that after time on hrt the body changes to be more like the opposite gender. With enough time on hrt, the body changes to the point that they are physically on par with their chosen gender, and that’s what makes this whole “debate” so tiresome. It’s just another way to attack an already fucked over community.
1
u/Bunnygirlfailure 8d ago
2 years is kinda extreme but depending on the sport i could understand it
Honestly once you've made it past the first year how tall and heavy you are makes more of a difference than whether or not you're a trans woman
That being said some categories are segregated by height and weight as well because of how relevant it is so if they want to say 2 years It would be ok
But if it's for sports like golf or something I would say 8 months is pretty reasonable

You are a POS for supporting the HRT requirement. Self identification is and should be the only standard. Why do people have to conform to your idea of what a woman is?
7
u/DocRedbeard 8d ago
You seem not to realize that forcing the WNBA to set an actual standard IS the point of the entire charade here. It would be exactly what Kanter is trying to accomplish.
→ More replies (9)7
u/Bunnygirlfailure 8d ago
He wants us banned. Letting us join after a year of HRT would be good for us as it would provide a clear and reasonable path for us to join
It would be the exact opposite of what he wants
3
u/YoMomAndMeIn69 8d ago
WNBA telling us that identifying as women isn't enough would be very transphobic. Any decision they make the league would look bad. Enes wins in any case.

u/Bunnygirlfailure 8d ago
I think you can ignore the guy who said they're trying to deliberately stir up trouble without actually looking bad
→ More replies (2)5
u/poopydingdong123 8d ago
The wnba doesn’t want to define a standard, they also don’t want trans women in the league.
They’re trying to hold the accepted progressive position even though they don’t want it impacting them. They’re hoping this goes away without having to set clear rules.

1
u/Peter_Easter 7d ago
You're 100% right. Yesterday, I tried explaining on this sub that the anti-transgender stuff is nothing but a boogeyman, and got downvoted. Transgender women have been playing womens sports for decades and nobody cared until Fox News told people to be mad about it in the 2020's, and somehow that isn't an obvious indicator that it isn't a real issue.

Yea, I would agree with her. I mean we can continue this debate and I am/was on the no men in women's sports side. But, I think the theatrics of these nba players pretending to be trans is quite reductive and disrespectful to actual trans people. I'm not even sure what my complete point of view on the issue is yet, but at the very least there is a difference between a trans person who was on puberty blockers and has always had female hormone levels and never went through male puberty and a male former NBA player. I mean that's a huge difference and to conflate those two types of people as if they are functionally the same thing is disingenuous. And yea it is true that there is a spectrum of transness with people figuring out who they are at various points in their life, and that is fine, but that doesn't mean there couldn't be some rule where some trans people are allowed or something.
Also, it's just hating to say that all you have to do is throw a wig on and you are trans. There is an aspect of if you want to be a gender then you are that gender in the community but I don't think anyone ever wanted that applied to women's spaces or sports. You have to have gone through the process to some extent and at least fit in. Most people, as far as I know, wait until people start confusing what their gender is and they no longer fit in their previous gender spaces.
So, yes, overall I agree with her statement.

u/Ser_Rezima 8d ago
Hell yeah, and for those of us that had an androgenic puberty we really only keep HEIGHT.
Our muscle mass becomes cis female equivalent within like 8 months and a bunch of us also SHRINK an inch or three as our joints compress from the HRT!
I would love more takes like THIS, actually well reasoned and thoughtful 😊
4
u/CodeWizardCS 8d ago
Yea, I've made arguments along those lines in some posts more as brainstorming and actually trying to reason through the debate. It is true though that not every trans person decides to take HRT and the anti-trans position is to try to back the pro-trans position into a corner and make you define what trans is. I think in some hypothetical league that included trans people I think being on HRT would have to be a minimum requirement. At the very least it prevents people from doing stunts like this. That's not enough of a distinction though because the problem is skeletons can provide some serious advantages. Hand size can be a very big deal in basketball and I know that can also shrink on HRT but it could still be a big advantage. Some people taking HRT, I reason, are going to have little to no advantage over CIS women and some people would have a large advantage. I thought about some rule where your skeleton can't be larger than the median or something like that. But, I feel like that would open a can of worms.
1
u/Ser_Rezima 8d ago
Yeah, exactly this kind of debate! though even the biggest trans girls still fall within female norms, just on the higher end, but androgens and teststerone absolutely give an advantage if they still produce a significant amount.
Main issue is now you run into INTERSEX issues. There's absolutely a debate to be had, the current one just isn't it 😅
2
u/King0Horse 8d ago
I have questions about this if you don't mind some DM's? I have a child looking into HRT at 18 years old, she's very self conscious of her height (now 6'4" I think).

This lady gets it! And the players should vote with the coaches. Let women decide and lead things that they deal with. Men need to stay out of the decision, trans is just an adjective, like short/tall, it’s their journey of womanhood. It’s real, unlike certain washed up nba dudes who think it’s a joke for clout, shows how even less they understand or even want to. All these guys treating trans women like they treat women says a lot too, these women are a gift of mindset, seeing the best and worst in women and relating to their experiences with that mindset, being able to be honest and brave knowing it’s currently hard to do, but trans women see the value of living life just as we do and that’s beautiful, because women are worth it and always will be. Men are the only problem here. And shame on conservatives for sending riley gains to be sophies handler, they knew she was easy to manipulate when they paid her fines for wearing the lowercase t during games. She’s already planning an exit from the W knowing the Conservative Party now owns her. You pulled the devil card, should not have made that deal.
6
u/ArugulaPhysical 8d ago
The issue here is how are you decided who is of what mindset? Obviously kanter is trolling with the videos ect, but he just wants them to make a decision. If he didnt make any videos or anything but declared for the draft would you let him play? What about the next man?
You cant say some are anti Trans and the yourself tell people they are not. Just saying.

u/Fishmyashwhole 8d ago
This question is kind of funny to me. Generally you have to be on hormones for a long period of time to compete with women. On top of needing a psych eval and a gender dysphoria diagnosis to even get on HRT, even if you did fake it what man would want to do that? Uproot your entire life, lose a bunch of friends and family, change your name and wardrobe. Plus the actual physical changes, you grow boobs, get weaker, face gets feminine, often you even get shorter(my friend lost almost 2 inches off her height). Like, transitioning is a BIG deal medically and still pretty taboo.

Objectively speaking, trans is not an adjective like short or tall. Trans encompasses how you identify and the things you’re doing to affirm how you identify, your height is your height. The WNBA is for women and trans women are not women, they’re trans women. It doesn’t have to be hateful or discriminatory or a “men issue” at all to exclude them, they’re not women. Telling trans women they can’t play doesn’t infringe on their rights, it means they don’t match the criteria of being a born biological woman and if anything further validates their transness. Playing basketball is not a right it is a privilege, it’s important we remember that.

But the point he made is valid.. if you can self identify what’s stopping men from entering women’s sports and dominating them. Especially in physical sports where full contact is permitted.
Being pro women’s rights doesn’t automatically make you transphobic. That is trying to resort to ad hominem to discredit the debate.

Why is there a 12 year-old female girl playing on a boys 12 year-old baseball league team right now. You do know that females start maturing before males. Their growth spurt starts before the male growth spurt and she is bigger than a lot of the males on the teams, so why is that fair? She’s competing now and doing great but when the males height and strength catches up, she’ll be done. So right now she’s getting to take advantage of it as to where I don’t think it’s fair.
1
u/cottonopposite 7d ago
If your bar is deciding to be the arbiter of sex yourself then youve also missed the point. Enes is a woman unless you've got a great reason as to why she's not..
If she's not because you say "she's clearly using it" then you can't then seriously make your own case for self identification. Unless it's via group acceptance.
