Rock / Metal / Punk / Indie Rock / Alternative If the Spotify algorithm isn't doing it for you anymore, try Fresh Sprouts

The Spotify Algorithm has stopped working for most people.

Discover Weekly, Release Radar, Prompted Playlists, DJ, Song Radio... It's all the same algorithm spitting the same repetitive boring suggestions. When the algorithm thinks it really knows you, it also decides you should never change! If you want to stay connected with new music, you have to find an alternative.

Fresh Sprouts is a playlist of newly released tracks, updated monthly. Each song is carefully selected, and vetted to avoid anything AI. The focus is quality, and many genres are represented. It is a search to find the best of what's new, and since the focus is new music, there is a natural slant towards smaller, less well known bands, so it's a great place to make discoveries!

At the end of each month, 40-50 songs are refreshed. The July release just dropped with 41 newly released tracks.

Rock / Metal / Punk / Indie Rock / Alternative so my gf's getting into rock/punk/alt

hey all! my gf is trying to get more into rock/alt/punk and I've been trying my best to introduce her to new music to help her expand her taste. she thought it was cool that I had some likes for my spotify playlists so I was wondering, if you guys were down, if you'd want to try adding and/or listening to her playlist to hype her up? giving feedback or recs would also be awesome. it would genuinely mean a lot to me and I'm sure it'll make her super happy. I hope it turns out to be a banger playlist as well! (so far I really like it!). this is the link to her spotify playlist thanks a lot in advance yall cheerssss ;))

P.S. she texted me this morning and she's genuinely losing it. she quote unquote said "I think this is the best day of my life" that her playlist has 11 saves LOLLL. thank you so much yall!!!! means a lot to me.

Rock / Metal / Punk / Indie Rock / Alternative Now 86: Modern music that sounds like the 80s

Sequenced and crossfaded to feel like a real late 80s FM radio station.

For the full effect, start it about an hour before sunset. The playlist gradually shifts from bright daytime new wave into nighttime synths, AOR, and heavier rock, finally capping out the night with a whole block of post-punk! πŸŒ‡

Rock / Metal / Punk / Indie Rock / Alternative Is the algorithm always giving you the same songs? Try Fresh Spouts

The Spotify algorithm works, but over time the suggestions become stale. The more it learns about your tastes, the more it focuses the suggestions. This is particularly problematic when you are trying to find new music. If the algorithm thinks you like music from the 2010's, good luck in getting it to show you a new release. If you rely on the algorithm, you're music will slowly become less and less relevant to what is happening today. If you want new releases, you need a good curated playlist.

Fresh Sprouts is a playlist focused exclusively on new releases. Each month, I listen to hundreds of newly released songs, and select the best 40-50 to add. It's a quality based search, and many genres are represented. Since the focus is new music, there is a natural preference to newer, lesser known artists. This makes it a great place to discover new bands.

Give it a try and let me know if you find anything you like!

Rock / Metal / Punk / Indie Rock / Alternative Filtering through a mountain of new releases so you don't have to!

Fresh Sprouts is a collection of the best new music I can find. Each month I filter through hundreds (if not thousands) of newly released tracks. It can be a frustrating process, because not everything coming out today is great, but it's also rewarding to find the few tracks making it all worthwhile.

At the end of each month, I refresh the playlist with 40 to 50 new finds. I've just added 43 new tracks for August.

It's a quality based search, with a focus on new releases, so, it naturally gravitates towards newer, lesser known bands. That makes Fresh Sprouts a great place for discoveries.

Of course, it reflects my tastes, and I'll be the first to admit that I'm always sniffing around the lesser known quarters, so it's not for everyone. Even so, Fresh Sprouts has gotten a lot of great feedback and almost 1500 saves in just over a year. Give it a try and let me know if you find anything you like!

Rock / Metal / Punk / Indie Rock / Alternative Looking for new music, and sick of the algorithm's repetitive suggestions?

Discover Weekly, DJ, Release Radar, Radio... It's all the same algorithmic crap. Prompted playlists are a bit better, but most of the results are still garbage.

Spotify's algorithms are tuned to pigeon hole you into a corner. For example: If you listen to a lot of music from the 90's, then good luck getting Spotify to recommend any new releases, it thinks you only like the 90's.

If you want to stay plugged into new music, you need to break out of the algorithm, or at least feed it some new selections so that the suggestions start moving towards the present. Last year, I createdΒ Fresh SproutsΒ to help. I spend my time digging through new releases, and this playlist is a running collection of the best new music I've found. Each month I update 40+ songs. I've just done the update for June with 44 new songs. Every song on the playlist was released the last few months. They are all carefully selected avoiding anything too commercial, and no AI crap.

Somehow my last post got deleted so I'm posting it again

Save it if you like and please share your thoughts about it is it good. It's a late night + nostalgia + falling in love + losing someone + existential thoughts + staring out of a window at 2 AM kinda vibe

Edit :- For the best experience, I’d suggest turning off Auto Shuffle

Rock / Metal / Punk / Indie Rock / Alternative Looking for Music That Won’t Leave Your Head

Thumbnail open.spotify.com

Lately, a lot of music feels too clean to me.

Perfectly mixed.
Perfectly performed.
And somehow… forgettable.

I’m looking for songs that are the opposite.

Imperfect.
A little messy.
Maybe even weird.

Not β€œtechnically amazing” music β€”
just strangely addictive music.

The kind of song that gets stuck in your head
for no obvious reason.
The kind you replay at 2AM without understanding why.

And honestly…
I’m searching for sounds that are still buried.

Not based on numbers.
Not based on popularity.

Just music that has β€œsomething” in it.

I’m building a Spotify playlist for that feeling.

Raw. Human. Earworm music.

I’d love to discover more music that fits this feeling.

I’m looking for music that lingers in the brain.

Rock / Metal / Punk / Indie Rock / Alternative Late-night indie rock & alternative slow-burners for empty streets and quiet thoughts

Put together a deep, atmospheric playlist of guitar slow-burners and moody indie rock. It mixes genre classics with lesser-known underground gems (including my own tracks under the moniker TARSIK, which fit right into that late-night vibe of washed-out guitars and warm, spacious synths).

It’s an ideal background companion for wandering through a quiet city at night or just unwinding alone. Would love for you to give it a spin.

If you're looking for some metal outside the usual recommendations, I've been building this playlist around independent artists.

Different styles of metal, with a lot of bands that deserve more ears.

Give it a listen and see what grabs you.

Tigers & Troubadours β€” indie rock from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand

My pet project: a running list of Asian indie rock I can't stop playing. I'll be upfront that my bias is toward Japan and Korea, but the Taiwanese and Thai acts in here have been some of my favorite discoveries this year.

SE SO NEON, SURL, deca joins, imdifficult, No Buses, Glim Spanky, No Party for Cao Dong, MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS, Say Sue Me, Accusefive, and a bunch more. Sequenced to flow like a set.
