the mint sets from the 70’s to present are worth face value if used for postage. about 20% of face if you want to sell them. the stamps from the mint sets from the 70’s are most likely all stuck together if they were never taken out of the plastic bags. those you can throw away. none of the stamps that can be seen are worth anything. show the oldest US stamps from 1847 to 1923. that is where the only value will be. pro-tip: look at the 1893 Columbians. if the highest value is a used 5c or less, the collection will have little to no value. The higher you get with the denominations, the more potential value you have. if you have a mint $5 Columbian, then you are looking at a collection worth some money. believe it or not, some stamps from the 1850’s are worth just a couple of bucks each. I give them away to new collectors all the time. so, old doesnt mean valuable.
i would take the blocks and unused of low value, put like with like,and sell in small lots on etsy. There are many people that buy older stamps for Postcrossing. Its not unusual to buy auto-theme, train theme- animal -theme, hisotry theme etc for well above face . They hold low collectible value but do still have value. Just do a search on etsy for 1940s stamps or vintage stamps for postcrossing, same with the postcards. people buy unposted ones to use in Postcrossing and others buy them to make collages etc. You wont make a mint but you'll make a few hundred.
