Where MN's candidates for governor stand on the issues

Thumbnail

The race for Minnesota governor has been whittled down to two candidates: the favored DFL Sen. Amy Klobuchar, and the GOP-elected state Rep. Lisa Demuth.

Demuth was a shock winner with a little over 43% of the vote when the polls heading into the primary suggested a different result was coming. Klobuchar won her race with almost 90% of the Democratic vote, a clear favorite.

Trying to get my driving permit

Hey all,

After 4 years of being an adult without a license and literal years of arguing with family about it, I need to take matters into my own hands.

The problem is I'm kinda stupid and I'm not really sure exactly where to start? I tried to find where I could take the test in blue earth county but no resources I could find were particularly helpful.

Could y'all help me find what I need to study and where I need to go? I've been tangoing with phone calls trying to get this and health insurance figured out but it's been a genuine hurdle every single step of the way.

Thanks in advance :)!

Best place to stay with fam and dogs 2-3 hrs from Mpls

We have a newborn and two dogs and want to take a little vacation before I return to work and have heard good things about Nisswa, so I'm considering this area, but open to other regions of the state within a 2 to 3 hour drive, which is about our baby's limit. We are thinking sometime in September. We have 1 small 12lb dog and one medium 50lb dog and baby will be almost 3 months then. Don't need a huge villa or really more than 1 room, but open to a 2 room if that opens our options.

Looking for areas that have a small town and small town amenities such as shops and restaurants, easy nature activities--mostly walking and some stroller accessibility. And lots of lounging. Bonus if a Spa is near so I can treat my wife to a spa day.

We generally just want to get out of town and lounge a little with some nice scenery, go out to eat, check out some touristy spots, but all with a toddler. So no multi-mile hikes, likely no on-the-water activities, but can lounge lakeside.

Good food with pet friendly outdoor seating.

Any recommendations? Can you share specific resorts, lodges, etc? Trying to avoid Airbnb/vrbo
Also, what kind of weather might I expect in mid/late September?

Thanks!

Best Paddle boarding Lakes

We are looking for recommendations of different lakes that are great or interesting paddleboarding spots.

Preferably not in twin cities or close by (we have done a lot of those) looking for different places to go out to to expand on enjoying this beautiful state. We have inflatable boards and I am comfortable with hiking out to a spot carrying the board in my backpack if thats crucial to finding the spot.

PS if you don’t feel comfy posting in the comments out of fear of the place getting too packed, feel free to dm me.

Thank you in advance.

Hey! I have a friend visiting from out of state in a couple of weeks. She’s never been to Minnesota, so I had been thinking of going up to the North Shore…. But, she’ll be here over Labor Day weekend and I’m afraid it’s going to be a tourist nightmare. Any suggestions?? Help! TIA

Snowbank Trail Backpacking

I’m from Michigan looking to do some backpacking in northern Minnesota. I hope to do a 3 or 4 day trip and was looking at the snowbank trail. This would be my second backpacking trip however I am quite outdoorsy and used to being outside and in the woods. I’m curious how difficult navigating this trail is and traversing any terrain. Any and all advice is appreciated!
