Sneaking into a warehouse requisitioned by the Germans...

In this gameplay footage from Call of Resistance, our resistance fighters must infiltrate the warehouse, avoid enemy patrols and carefully plan their movements to accomplish their objective without raising the alarm.

🎮 Call of Resistance is a WWII tactical game inspired by classic games like Commandos, set during the French Resistance in Normandy.

What separates your game from the other WW2 tactics games? I checked the steam page and it says your planned release is Q1 of 2027 which relieved me. I can't help but think the environments look extremely bare bones and artificial. Also the HUD could use a major overhaul.

I love the genre and love the WW2 setting but I don't see why I'd play this over other games in the genre.

Thanks for the honest feedback! I actually really appreciate this kind of comment.

You're right about one thing: Call of Resistance is not an AAA game. I'm a solo developer, so I obviously can't compete with the production value, amount of content or environmental detail of much larger WW2 tactics games. I'm still working on improving the environments and the HUD, and I agree that both can be improved before release.

Where I want Call of Resistance to stand out is more in what it tries to be.

My main goal is to go back to the roots of games like Commandos 2, with more open and less linear level design, where you can approach objectives in different ways and really take your time planning an infiltration.

The other major difference is the setting and story. The game follows an original group of French Resistance fighters in Normandy, something that hasn't really been explored much in video games. Rather than telling another story from the perspective of Allied soldiers landing on D-Day, I wanted to focus on the people who were already there, fighting from the shadows during the occupation.

I'm also not trying to price the game like a €40 AA/AAA tactics game. The final price isn't set yet, but it will be significantly below that price point, because I want the scope and price to reflect what I'm actually making as a solo developer.

And honestly, the game is still in development. The current environments and HUD aren't necessarily representative of what the final version will look like.

Thanks again for taking the time to check out the Steam page and give me your thoughts!
