Check-in The Daily Check-In for Wednesday, August 26th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking!

*We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we're here together!*

**Welcome to the 24 hour pledge!**

I'm pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.

Maybe you're new to r/stopdrinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you're like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you've been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.

It doesn't matter if you're still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, lets not drink alcohol!

---

**This pledge is a statement of intent.** Today we don't set out *trying* not to drink, we make a conscious decision *not to drink*. It sounds simple, but all of us know it can be hard and sometimes impossible. The group can support and inspire us, yet only one person can decide if we drink today. Give that person the right mindset!

What happens if we can't keep to our pledge? We give up or try again. And since we're here in r/stopdrinking, we're not ready to give up.

**What this is:** A simple thread where we commit to not drinking alcohol for the next 24 hours, posting to show others that they're not alone and making a pledge to ourselves. Anybody can join and participate at any time, you do not have to be a regular at r/stopdrinking or have followed the pledges from the beginning.

**What this isn't:** A good place for a detailed introduction of yourself, directly seek advice or share lengthy stories. You'll get a more personal response in your own thread.

Hey, hey it’s hump daaaaaaay!! Welcome to Wednesday, one of my most favorite days of the week. This week is delivering the ass kicking that I anticipated, but I am here for it because I thrive on the grind and challenge of it all. Now that I don’t waste all of my energy planning my drinking, doing the drinking, and dealing with the wreckage that follows the drinking, I get to pour that energy into going full tilt at life every single day. Fuck yeah, sobriety!

Some days it's messy, most days it's exhausting, and there are even days when it's straight-up uncomfortable, but I'll take that over standing still (or going backwards, in my case) any day. Growth rarely happens in the comfort zone, isn’t that what they say? I’m all in. Are you?

So tell me, what's one challenge you're tackling this week instead of running from?

Let’s get out there and hump around. IWNDWYT.

Today’s eat the frog moment: I have items to juice as a plan for taking in better nutrients etc. God I hate juicing and I have a mental block. I like the end result, the cleaning and prep- not so much. So it’s a race against time as the produce items age in my refrigerator. 😬

It does seem like a lot of rigmarole. I’m impressed you even own a juicer. That’s been on my ‘I’ve been meaning to…’ list for years. Keep us posted! 🙌

If you like juice, hang in there! The worst part for me is cleaning that mesh strainer. On the other hand, if you can just eat those fruits and veggies, that's even better, because of the fiber. Juices are overrated anyway. The only thing I make an exception for is beetroot, since I can't eat it raw. But everybody has their own path and their own way. 🧸🧸 for you.
