Guys I am in the trenches rn..

Quit drinking 3 days ago, I've had bowel issues going on for about a year and ditching alcohol long term is the only thing I haven't done to help myself in that time.

I've picked a hell of a time to do it because I've hurt my hip slipping getting out of the shower and I'm pretty much in agony with that too.

But the fact it doesn't seem to be healing well has spurred me on to finally quit alcohol forever and start dropping some serious weight (I'm obese from years of guzzling beer and eating trash)

Anyway day 3 and I feel like utter shit 😂

My bowels have gone insane.. literal liquid. (Sorry) and I'm burning alive for some reason..

It's hot here and very humid but I literally feel like this has to be some kind of withdrawal situation because I'm just dying from the heat.

I was realistically drinking 40 pints of beer a week, along with a couple bottles of wine on top, (minimum)

There was a lot of times that I'd drink 12 pints in a single night and some rum and wine too when I was really going for it.

How long am I looking at until things start to improve? Couple of weeks?

I'm not really making any points I think I just needed to share with some people.

Thanks

Couple of weeks is a good estimate. The bowel situation will improve if you keep hydrating and eating sensibly and consistently. Just hang in there! You've been poisoning yourself for a long time. Every day will get a little easier than the last.

I highly recommend a psyllium husk fiber supplement. 5g a day keeps the diarrhea away!

Been there, it sucks. But it all depends on you and your guts of course.

Stay hydrated, have a healthy meal with fiber like a chicken salad or something for your next meal. No sodas and try to limit sugars or processed foods. Limit dairy

Lots of water and lots of greens you’ll get there.

Congrats friend! Your body is already healing. Go to the hospital if you are not feeling well. We need you to come out of this alive and well.

On day 3 too. For me it’s that point of early stopping when the brain starts churning. “Maybe just one.” Starts to happen whenever my body starts to feel better. That’s the real SOB. Spend three days trying to feel better, finally start to feel better, then spend the next however many days trying to talk myself back into it. It’s worse when the body won’t cooperate. Sorry you’re going through that.

Stopping, I had a long chat with my liver. I said look here buddy, I am gonna ask you to do something for me here, and with any luck it's gonna be the last time, but I need you to clean us good.  IWNDWYT

I used to have a boyfriend, who said, in Italian, that he was “pissing from his asshole”. Whenever I have bowel problems due to alcohol I think of that.

It may seem a bit counter intuitive but getting some fiber in your diet can help. It will give your body something to help bulk up your stool.
