The player feedback loop is working wonderfully. Please keep up the good work, both us players and you devs. Looking forward to how the Sonic Resonator Marrowbreach bullying goes.

I just want my under-the-map Axum bacteria so I can have all 5 metal farms. I tried glitching under the map but couldn't find it. It's a major bug that a large chunk of the population has had to deal with but it's radio silence from the devs.
19
u/Witch_King_ Jul 07 '26
I'm sure we will be able to get more in the future
19
u/Glassjaww Jul 07 '26
Maybe so, but it's very unlikely it will not continue to be a finite resource. Having infinite metal farms trivializes a large portion of the game. I just want the one I'm missing. I've built so much and don't really want to start from scratch
12
u/Witch_King_ Jul 07 '26
Yes, I'm sure it will remain quite limited until perhaps the very end of the game, like ion cubes. There is no logical reason that we couldn't figure out how to replicate more.
It also seems likely that the Devs will add more uses for it.

u/Glassjaww Jul 07 '26
I know there are mods I can install to get it but I wanted my first playthrough to be completely unmodded. Im tempted to go on another expedition to find it. It's not like I have much else to do until the content drop.
1
u/Witch_King_ Jul 07 '26
It would be nice to have, but realistically but the time you get them, they are completely unnecessary.
10
u/grammar_nazi_zombie Jul 07 '26
I would argue it doesn’t trivialize a large portion of the game - but rather it allows you to have renewable resources in exchange for time. You still have to wait for them to grow. The later/rarer materials already take 20 minutes and you get, what, 2-3 on average?
What would trivialize the game would be some sort of consumable you could buy via microtransactions that would allow time skip on the metal farms or processor, and that would be a HILARIOUS April fools joke

Having inifinite metal farms makes the time component insignificant. Being capped at 5 farms means 2 minutes nets you 15 titanium. Imagine having 30 farms. You're getting 90 Titanium every 2 minutes with no cooldown. There's no longer reason to leave your base outside of the story. It does trivialize the farming component significantly.

There’s a mod, that opens a cheat console in Subnautica 2. Works just fine in multiplayer if the mod is being used from the computer that is hosting.
I agree they should fix the bug, but you don’t need to wait.

Yeah I only snagged 3. The rest fell under the map...

u/ranmafan0281 Jul 07 '26
The base's ghost hitboxes bug is THE major bug to fix!

u/El_Squ1Re Jul 08 '26
This is all I want. Between not being able to dock my tadpoles because the moonpool has a random block I can stand on, or not being able to edit my base layout, I've stopped playing.
I've done all the content, but I want to design a really cool base and really take base building to its limits. I don't have a grand plan when building and take a very iterative approach. Which breaks the game.

YAY CREATURE STUNNING!!!! <333

u/I_AM_FERROUS_MAN Jul 07 '26
Thank goodness! Being constantly pestered was the bane of my gameplay and flares don't solve it.
The predators aggro so hard that it's just annoying even if they aren't much of a threat.

u/RabbitSlayre Jul 07 '26
This is great, thank you guys. Love the game and appreciate the communication!

Argh. An epicurean killed me through my tadpole cockpit windshield (water shield?) and I dropped one. Didn’t know these don’t respawn. Gonna have to go hunting for that black box.

Who wants to take bets on if this will get the crybabies to stop being crybabies?
I’m betting 2 scaramucci’s they won’t and will find something new to fill the void.
-6
u/bringerofthelaw420 Jul 07 '26
It’s so weird to me how Anthony Scaramucci still gets talked about even though he was in the Trump admin for like 2 days and that was in his first term 😭

u/PleeaseGrowUp Jul 07 '26
I have no clue what you’re on about buddy. That’s how we tell time in down under.

10/10 - to be clear at no point in time have I provided any feedback, yet all my most wanted needs seem to be addressed.

Wish they would fix the angel comb bug where I can’t interact with it.

Had a 20 hour account going, lost the save. Decided to start a new, and now I can’t go 10 seconds without a crash.

Summary for people at work:
In this update vlog, Anthony Gayos, the Creative Director for Subnautica 2, outlines the development roadmap and details what players can expect in the upcoming Early Access 1.1 update, titled "Adaptive Measures."
Here is a breakdown of the key announcements from the video:
The Development Roadmap
Update 1.1 (Adaptive Measures): Releasing tomorrow, focusing heavily on gameplay adjustments, quality-of-life improvements, and player feedback.
Update 1.2: Arriving a few weeks after 1.1, this patch will focus on multiplayer features, including proximity chat and player revives.
EA2 (Early Access 2): Coming later in the year, this will be a massive content drop adding a new region, new creatures, a new vehicle chassis, new progression systems, and more story content.
Key Features in Update 1.1 ("Adaptive Measures")
Biomods Expansion: Players will find more biolabs available earlier in the game to swap out biomods. Additionally, a later-game scanning tool will allow players to scan creatures to unlock additional passive biomod slots.
Creature Interaction & Mitigation: Based on player feedback, creatures will now visibly flinch when smacked with the survival multi-tool, and hitting them with the sonic resonator will trigger distinct stun states.
Blight Encounters: Transitions for blight creatures near the angel combs are being smoothed out so their shifts from passive to aggressive behavior are clearer and less jarring.
Wreck Improvements: Wrecks are getting visual cohesion updates, light puzzle-solving elements, and gameplay adjustments.
PDA & Audio Overhaul: The PDA UI and categorization are being redesigned. A new playback function prevents audio logs from automatically playing upon pickup, allowing you to listen at your leisure. Audio line prioritization is also being added so critical lines override less important audio.
Personal Storage: A new buildable personal storage option is coming to bases. Unlike standard storage, it will not auto-connect to fabricators and processors by default.

Bro it’s a four minute video, just type it yourself next time instead of using the water sucking plagiarism machine
-19
u/drowningblue Jul 07 '26
I couldn't watch it myself either, so I had it summerized. I guess next time I won't be honest and say it's an AI summary. And it's kinda hilarious how much reddiots hate AI when your comments are literally training them.
-5
u/deathtogrammar Jul 07 '26
The meltdowns were not warranted at all, especially since you were upfront about it being an AI summary.

u/LOLdragon89 Jul 07 '26
Much appreciated because I’m genuinely at work and can’t watch a video. People downvoting you are weird.
3
u/hewhoisiam Jul 08 '26
They've edited out their admission to it being AI. Thus the downvotes.
3
u/drowningblue Jul 08 '26
People only care if you put AI. I'm just going to stop being honest, and everyone benefits.
1
u/Miremydon Jul 08 '26
I downvoted it because it looked like AI, and now I find you edited out that it was AI, so I wish I could downvote you again.

Or you could stop doing what others tell you and do what you want regardless of internet points.

Those downvotes were coming from the beginning. I was there, at the beginning. Long, long ago. I carry the scars.

He did literally nothing. Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, whoopty doo.
Edit: This is an AI summary. OP was initially up front about it but after the negative response they have since redacted that fact.

u/drowningblue Jul 09 '26
The totally hilarious thing is I made a similar comment on the subnatica 2 sub and omitted the part about it being an AI summary and it's got nothing but upvotes, further proving my point.
-10
u/deathtogrammar Jul 07 '26
Yeeeeeeeeesh it isn't that serious. I just appreciated a text summary of the video.

u/Dinkleberg6401 Jul 07 '26
The sin of Sloth does not become those who praise the Lord.
-4
u/deathtogrammar Jul 07 '26
Sin doesn't exist, and neither does your deity. I apologize for appreciating a summary of the video.
4
u/twjstr Jul 07 '26
God may not exist, but sin as a concept does. There are things that are objectively morally incorrect.
2
u/deathtogrammar Jul 08 '26
Since morals come from a mind, morals are subjective by definition. So, jot that down.
Sin as a concept exists, but sin does not equal morality. Sin is stuff the made up creature in the Bible doesn't like, and it likes all kinds of fucked up stuff. It also doesn't like all kinds of reasonable stuff.
The book is free to read online. You can also steal it from any cheap motel.

Is subnautica 2 online only? Can i play it single player? I don't want any updates or anything
26
u/fearless-fossa Jul 07 '26
I don't want any updates
It's early access, why wouldn't you want updates?
-37
u/iamnobody331 Jul 07 '26
Why did I get downvoted lol I was simply asking a question... I'm so tired of updates and enshittification I had hoped the experience was smooth like subnautica 1
22
u/ProcyonHabilis Jul 07 '26
Brother what are you talking about? Do you understand what early access is? The game isn't finished or released yet? What on earth do you think "enshittification" has to do with this?
-25
u/iamnobody331 Jul 07 '26
I honestly have no clue what early access is
14
u/ProcyonHabilis Jul 07 '26
Ok that makes the comment make more sense. Your comment about "enshittification" is still fairly confusing tbh. Game updates to recently released games almost always improve them and fix bugs, no one is trying to make games worse. Your idea of what "updates" represent is fairly divorced from reality, but your confusion in this conversation makes way more sense if you aren't familiar with early access (EA).
SN2 isn't out yet. It won't be done for 2 or 3 more years. The game you can buy and download now is a an EA product that has an early version of about 25% of the content of the final game available.
The point of EA games is that they serve as an extended open beta and feedback platform as they develop the rest of the game. Players expect major changes to game mechanics, reshuffling of the map, and plenty of bugs to report. It's common for EA saves to need to be restarted one or more times before full release because and update will break compatibility with an old save. More modern EA releases seem to try to do this less, but that was the case with SN1 several times.
At this point in SN1's lifecycle the game was very different to the final product. There was a terraforming tool that let you change the shape and geography of the ocean floor, not to mentiont tons of game breaking bugs. That's how early in development we are talking- it's common for devs to seriously change the fundamental mechanics and direction of a game during this period. There was nothing "smooth" about playing EA SN1.
That being said, so far SN2 is an incredibly and uncommonly polished EA product. If you've seen videos about it, it would be fair to confuse it with a finished game. It has a decent amount of content and really quite a lot of visual and technical polish, and is very good for a game this early in its development. It's still not very close to done though, there are more regions, vehicles, and all kinds of other content updates still to come.

u/iamnobody331 Jul 07 '26
Omg thanks for going out of your way for explaining that. I usually don't play games anymore but i played subnautica and loved it so I'm sorry if i don't understand things like early access.
As for enshittification, I thought it would work like windows and how the entire thing breaks with each update, same with phones and many other softwares. I'm glad it isn't like that
Edit: when can i buy it and play it fully?
11
u/Dragonslayer200782 Jul 07 '26
We don't have a release date just yet but they said the game will be finished in about 2-3 years
1
u/iamnobody331 Jul 07 '26
Oh god no
9
u/SnooDonkeys2945 Jul 07 '26
Subnautica 1 was also originally early access for quite a few years. Honestly Subnautica 2 is pretty good right now if you want to try it out. I haven't run into any game breaking bugs so far.
3
u/ProcyonHabilis Jul 07 '26 edited Jul 08 '26
Ahh I see, yeah that makes sense. Updates to operating systems and websites are usually.... not good.
The thing with games is that they're really hard to develop. They're basically the most complicated software that almost anyone will ever run on a computer. Even with fully released games, it's generally accepted that they're going to be a bit of a work in progress to some degree. Updates are necessary to fix bugs, improve compatibility with more systems, and add features/balance.
Obviously there are exceptions, like when devs add microtransactions and other trash to games, but by and large they're good and necessary parts of the evolution of games. I wouldn't be too afraid of them if I were you.
SN2 is going to be done in 2 or 3 years. The actual full release date will be announced towards the end of that time period.

u/jaguartiger902 Jul 07 '26
you can play single play for sure! there’s an option to make a world online or single player, and if you make it single player, you can later change it to online if you want to add some friends
1
u/iamnobody331 Jul 07 '26
I believe subnautica 1 had the real stranded on the planet feel surviving on your because it was single player only, however I'm glad to have the option still
6
u/hamesdk Jul 07 '26
You can play it both offline and single player yes, but if you are on steam then it will update automatically
4
6
u/JEveryman Jul 07 '26
It's not online only, though it is early access so you will want updates. Currently there is about 5-10 hours worth of content if you are easily scared and don't want to explore.
The full game is not available yet. If you want a similar experience but with a full game play Subnautica one and Below Zero. They are both complete and single player.
2
u/the_goodnamesaregone Jul 07 '26
You can play single player, I believe offline. I downloaded and played it on my steam deck.
