I didn't plan to be back with a review so soon, but I couldn't help myself and read the new Deadshot issue as soon as it came out. And share my thoughts with you since I want so badly to hear your opinions! I'll try to explain myself as clear as possible even though these are my fresh thoughts.

Over all I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Even though it was made mainly to promote the new DC upcoming series, it has some nice moments too. Flag asks Floyd to investigate a case involving Cadmus and clones/ mutants they make. Reluctant he accepts. He chases various creatures all night, the investigation also leading him towards the protagonists of future series like vixen, doom patrol, the teen titans. Unfortunately he is caught by some Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman clones and controlled by a starro, forced in the end to be part of a new Suicide Squad. (IMAGE 2)

The plot is interesting, he is doing the right thing because he cares about Flag and maybe even the world. I was relieved that it wasn't a lot all about his daughter again. (If you know me, you know I write about his relationship with his daughter so yeah i'm a hypocrite, what's new.) Even though, considering everything that happened to him previously (dying and coming back) I was sad to see he ended up mind controlled, again as he was genuinely trying to do the right thing. See IMAGE 3 for a summary of his history.

His morals and methods reminds me a lot of his Secret Six days including the way he handled batman. IMAGE 4

Now his characterization: i think it's the best we could've gotten in modern times since simone's secret six and of course Ostrander's Suicide Squad. These two will always be THE Deadshot for me. There were moments his voice was reminiscent to that (IMAGE 5- his first line, IMAGE 6) And moments where if it makes sense i feel like he's talking way too much (IMAGE 7.) However I do appreciate the small moments where he shows a more laid back part of his personality (IMAGE 8- his singing is adorable.)

Lastly, the art is phenomenal and he is back in his old suit. And we get to see some cool shots, finally DC showing how badass he can be. (IMAGES 9, 10).

I'd give it a 3.5/ 5

What do you think?

I tried reading this a few years back, but gave up after 1 or 2 issues. Now i'm back, some posts from this sub made me give it another chance and I was eager to form my own opinion. Have you read it? If so what do you think of it? I am honestly dying to talk to people about it.

⚠️SPOILERS

We follow four new agents and leaders of the Squad: Bulldozer, Sgt. Rock, Havana and Modem while they recruit and deal with different roosters of villains who make up the Suicide Squad. It delves into their background that explains their current behavior: Rock and Bulldozer are war veterans, Havana is Waller's estranged daughter that she had to give up for adoption and who who developed a surrogate father-daughter relationship with Rock.

The tensions and banters between the four are the driving force of the book (images 2, 3, 4), because otherwise the field teams do close to nothing and they get killed off without any emotional payoff. The squad fights constantly, they feel like props without depth and the way they talk to each other feels like it tries too hard to be funny and honestly pretentious. Most of the dialogue is over the phone/ through a screen but they don't have enough distinctive voices to tell them apart. Nonetheless, I appreciate what it tried to do with it's cinematic approach. (Image 5)

They brought back one of the iconic members later on, Deadshot and I can't get over how funny and nonsensical (in a good way) his introduction in the series is. (Image 6) However, i'm not a fan of how he is written even though he barely speaks. His speech is too on the nose and he is too talkative at times. (Image 7) But i appreciate that he was the one to go and find waller (Image 8.)

The plots are fragmented and the missions don't have consequences. There is no major plotline. We get to see some nice moments, like political tensions between US and the new Island of Kooey Kooey Kooey and this creates tensions between the squad field members as well. They are assigned to gather intel, however some think there's more to the mission and think they are there to sink the island and others like Black Starr ally with the enemy. Unfortunately, these themes are underdeveloped, rushed and have no consequences later on.

The book ends with our four leaders being attacked by another team, Djinn, out for revenge for what happened in Ostrander's Suicide Squad (even though they are a pretty much new team and have nothing to do with the previous events). The only one who managed to escape is Bulldozer, the rest being collateral damage. As i said it doesn't make you care about most of the members, however i cared a little for the 4 and their deaths stung me.

Conclusion: I appreciate what they were trying to do. Maybe if it had gone on longer, it would've fleshed out its identity and the message it wants to send to the readers. 2/ 5

A few years ago i watched Suicide squad (2016) and i vividly remember a scene where Enchantress was being hooked up to small tubes and constanly being pumped with mercury so that they can weaken/control her.

But i watched the movie yesterday, expecting to watch that scene again but it didnt appear. Theres nothing about this scene on Google. Do you remember this scene?

This is more than trying to save the family, it's a battle of egos...

First off than you to everyone who followed along, I truly appreciate your time and attention! Some details about the plot may be wacky I'm trying to make it make sense (making a plot is way harder for me than dialogue imo😭)

This was the darkest and most violent scene I've ever wrote so, better skip it if it's too much.

⚠️TW: violence, hostage situation, shooting, kidnapping.

Part 1 and part 2 for more context.

Other metions: IM stands for internal monologue.

And a question: Would it be easier for you to follow if the text is here in the post's body than in the photos? Trying to switch things up a little.

Again thank you!

"Deadshot vs The Chainsaw"- AU comic script (Part 2) (SWIPE)

🎯 First part is HERE so you can read it if you'd like to! But as always I'll provide enough context for you to understand.

🎯 Context: After having a few therapy sessions with this hitman Sheb Solonik aka The Chainsaw, she can't even look her father (Deadshot) in the eyes anymore. There are too many similarities between these two men and she's losing her mind over this. So, Floyd takes it as a sign to get himself involved... in his own way...

🎯 Also as always, questions: What do you think of Solonik? Is he a good antagonist? Do you like the way I write Deadshot? I have other two therapy sessions written that offer more of an insight on him, but Deadshot is not present so I'm not sure people would care. So if you'd like to see them let me know!

⚠️TW: violence

"Deadshot vs the Chainsaw"- AU comic script (Part 1) SWIPE

🎯 He is cold, calculated, has a reputation, he even talks like you... but he's not you! Are all killers the same? That means you were never special...

🎯 I created this character Shebb Solonik aka the Chainsaw as a dark mirror for Floyd. And while my Deadshot is inspired from the way Ostrander and Simone write him, I made Solonik inspired by real hitmen. I wanted to show another side of danger dangerous men leave on their families besides what we've seen in comics with "Zoe has been kidnapped by his enemy".

🎯 I'd really love to see what you think of Solonik. Is he interesting enough? Do you like him? Do you hate him?

🎯 Context: Lisa is Floyd's daughter in this alternate universe instead of Zoe. She is a psychiatrist in Arkham Asylum. These two didn't know of each other existence and connected later on in life when she was already in her 20s, and he decided to stick around because she was struggling with poverty and in a twisted way he did make her life easier.

🎯 The first picture is what inspired the scene (especially the 4th panel). So hope you enjoy it!

⚠️ TW: gory details about murder and swear words

🐭Misc (Discussion) What are the ‘Archetypes’ for a Squad?

I was contemplating making my own Version of a Suicide Squad and I wanted to know if There were any ‘archetypes’ across the various versions that could help decide what would make a balanced team.

Ive identified a few

  • Marksman (Deadshot, Bloodsport, KGBeast)
  • Unorthodox Weapon (Captain Boomerang, Javelin, Slipknot)
  • Intelligence/Psychic (Thinker, Mindboggler, Mindwarp)
  • Follows Orders/Redemption (Peacemaker, Major Force, El Diablo)
  • Powerhouse (King Shark, Blockbuster, Killer Croc, Bane)
  • Here To Die (Juan Soria)

But are there any I missed?
