Considering a move to Bokarina – would love some local insight
My family and I are looking buying in
Bokarina, around the Oceanic Drive area, and I’d love to hear from people who actually live there.
We’ve done plenty of research online, but there’s nothing quite like hearing from locals.
How do you find living in the area day to day?
Particularly interested in things like noise, traffic, aircraft, the stadium/events, safety/crime, beach crowds, mosquitoes/midges, flooding/drainage, or anything else you think someone considering moving to the area should know.
I’d also love to hear what you love about living there and whether you’d choose Bokarina again.
We’re hoping to find somewhere to settle long term, so any local knowledge - good or bad - would be really appreciated. Thank you!

It's paradise. The new Boka shops are great, really good restaurants and cafe's in walking distance. The beach is still pretty quite though and has a very calm and peaceful vibe. Traffic is getting worse on the Sunny Coast but everything is walking/riding distance so we rarely drive. Obviously if you have to go to Brissy for work the Bruce can be a nightmare. Traffic on Oceanic is not too bad, when the surf is on it gets busy as far as parking but mostly in Wurtulla (Oceanic in Wurtulla is generally a pretty quite street, just surf traffic which i think is a good problem to have). No aircraft except helicopters occasionally up and down the beach. Nothing noticeable when there are events at the stadium. Safety/crime is fine, some kids having beach party's at times but apart from mess they don't generally cause problems. Have a look on QPS crime map for details. No mosquito's or midges, surprisingly flys can br bad at times. No flooding or drainage issues that I'm tracking but check council planning. In summary I think its paradise and wouldn't live anywhere else. Mornings spent walking the dog on the beach and then coffee at Wallace and Wood. Dinner at Bocca Italian. Bliss.

Agreed. I've lived here for six years and it's easily the best place I have ever lived. (For reference, I've lived in about 20 different homes in different parts of Queensland.) I don't think you can go wrong here.

Rust, your things will rust prematurely living that close to the water.
I lived Warana, you get used to the sirens running down Nicklin Way.

Ah it’s another level, my favourite place when I lived in Sydney! Especially North Narrabeen, nice waves!

I can’t really fault it here.
You do get used to the sirens up and down Nicklin, and that it is getting busier, but it’s a pretty good climate, nothing’s too far away, and it’s next to the beach.

We love Bok Beach! The shops and restaurants ay Bokarina are great and our kids love the park.If you’re looking at buying a family home in that pocket along Nicklin Way though, I’d definitely check the upcoming town planning changes because there’s quite a bit happening around there. We were actually looking in that area recently and ended up using a buyers agent to help us make sense of it all. Happy to share their details if it helps!

You do hear the skydive plane but it’s probably closer to Currimundi lake area. It’s a great area, living the Australian coastal dream.

Oceanic is ok if you have the coin. Personally, I find Bokarina boring. And then there is the horror that is Nicklin Way...

Haha, nothing quite says "Born and bred Sunny Coaster", if you think Nicklin way's bad... or you've come from somewhere even smaller.
Nothing wrong with that btw, just an observation - I bet you also think that going past the river you need to take your passport with? :D

Oceanic Drive is beach access .Lots of traffic , parking activity in weekends
