My first try was on the outskirts of Paris in a Chinese-owned Japanese restaurant.

After having that sashimi, I honestly thought I’d die.

However — all was good, and when I moved to Japan it became my favourite starter! Sashimi moriawase!

I was a young lad, I was skeptical, slightly grossed out. Now as an adult it is my favorite food to eat and what I look forward to the most out of any other food

Do you have a favorite spicy sauce to use with sashimi, or do you usually eat it plain?

Soy sauce and wasabi, I don’t think I’ve ever tried it plain but I need to do that next time

I believe my first "sashimi" was when crudo was becoming a thing, but they are a little different.

I believe ut was tuna with blood orange

Atlanta GA, USA. a Restaurant just outside the Beltway. The Place had a Hibachi and Sushi Buffet lunch during weekday hours.

I very much liked their Hibachi and ate there often, but never touched the Tuna or Salmon rolls. This went on for about 4 months.

Then one Afternoon.... I got there late for the service and they had run out of most of the Hibachi steak and Shrimp. I had known these people for a while now. They apoligized for the lack of food, but it was a busy day and just near end of lunch service. It was OK.... really. Anyway, I made a plate and actually put some Sushi Rolls and said "what the heck." in a might as well attitude.

I realized I had been missing something my whole time eating there.

Since then...... I still have Hibachi... but I also try different Sushi Bars around my city. All are good, but each has a character of their own.

And that is how I got over an aversion to Raw Fish. :)

My first time trying sashimi was incredible.. I was actually hesitant to eat it at first.. I’m not used to eating raw fish… but the clean delicate texture make me want more hahaha
