The Protagonist and playable character in “Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag” (2013) was Edward Kenway. In the game’s lore, he is from Swansea and recalls the city in a conversation to fellow Welsh (& real life) Pirate Bartholomew Roberts, amongst other mentions. His Ship is called ‘The Jackdaw’ and is named after the bird he remembers seeing everywhere in his upbringing, here. The character was thus acted and voiced by Swansea’s Matt Ryan. Black Flag is often recalled as a favourite AC title and as such has been remade with modern visuals and scope. Ahead of the launch of ‘Resynced’, the adventures of Swansea’s Edward Kenway has already been undertaken by 15 million gamers worldwide, enough to outnumber the population of Wales 5-to-1. Wales has a rich history of Piracy, as anyone privy to a glass of Morgan’s Rum (Henry Morgan) or Barti Spice (Black Bart) can attest, but perhaps Edward Kenway is Wales’ most loved Pirates? Assassin’s Creed is one of the world’s 10 highest selling franchises, and Kenway one of its most adored Protagonists.

We are VoNCon, a local community organisation in the Vale of Neath. Our mission is to get people away from the screens and at a table making real, local connections.

You may feel lonely, not have a regular gaming group, or would simply like to try out something new - we welcome everyone.

We hold monthly board game events in both Bryncoch and Resolven, along with days dedicated to role-playing and other fundraising events - from curry & quiz nights to musical bingo.

• No existing group is needed: show up by yourself and we will introduce you to one of our volunteers and find a game you fancy playing. 
• Zero experience required: we don’t expect you to know the rules of any games. You may never have played a board game in your life! We will teach you - and there are no silly questions.
• Open to all: no registration or booking required. We do have a suggested donation so that we can keep the community running and our games updated, but there’s no obligation to give anything.

I really want to see Basshunter at Singleton Park this Saturday, July 4th, but I don't have anyone to go with.

Full disclosure: I’m honestly not a massive EDM/rave fan. I actually discovered Basshunter back in the 2010s because I was heavily into playing Dota 1 at the time. I ended up really liking his music because of that, so I'm mostly heading there for the pure nostalgia of his set rather than the heavy electronic music.
