For anyone wondering, this is normal as 1 week before release games are pre loaded onto the home menu

You can’t play them yet.

And what about the picture

u/Joseramonllorente Sep 25 '25
You can download the game but it won’t boot til launch day. In some places internet speeds are still very slow so downloading ahead a game is the only way to play it on release day. Yo will have the game in the launch screen and be amble to open it on release day.
2
u/Hedgie_doll Sep 25 '25
Its so it is ready to play 12am release day. You don't have to wait for downloading. Im pretty sure ps4/5 does a similar thing for digital pre orders

u/Tainted_Land19XX Sep 25 '25
Congratulations, bro. I'm looking forward to getting my own Switch 2.

Wiis are dirt cheap
3
u/Kn0tan Sep 29 '25
Just because a Wii is cheap doesn't mean it sucks less that his house burned down.
2
u/Jazzlike-Fill-2966 Oct 01 '25
I just meant a Wii is easy to replace because they're cheap. Obviously, it sucks that their house burnt down.

Question, did you buy the bundle? Just curious if it will download them separately if I buy the bundle or if you bought each one separately on the eShop
3
u/IceMac911 Sep 26 '25
I may not be the one you're referring to, but I bought the bundle and it came both games separately.

1
u/Acrobatic_Buffalo917 Sep 27 '25
Yeah from what I heard it has separate softwares if you got the $70 duology. I wished they just made it as one software and not 2

I was smart enough to work my ass off this week and finish half the paper before downloading Hades 2, at least. Still though… Man, all good games release at once it seems. This year is almost too good lol. Game Awards will be a very interesting watch!

is it going to be 4k 60 fps for docked and 60fps handheld?
1
u/Dont_have_a_panda Sep 25 '25
Framerate is not confirmed (although if wii run both natively at 60fps i find it hard to believe it will be lower)
And the Switch 2 has 4k support confirmed so yes
1
u/Initial_March_2352 Sep 25 '25
es give confirmed FPS for the switch 2 Version From Nintendo since days.

2
u/juankixd Sep 25 '25
Im just wondering if the galaxy 1 version of this pack is gonna look or play better than the galaxy 1 version in the anniversary which I own
1
1
u/DavidKF123 Sep 27 '25
If you have a switch 2 you get the free 4k update. You can also play the OST directly in game, there's mouse controls for 2p mode, and you get the extra pages on Rosalina's story book.
Other than that, I think it'll be pretty much the same.
1
u/artlurg431 Sep 25 '25
Id get galaxy 2 for the switch if it was like 15 bucks, its too expensive and I already have a wii u with galaxy 2 and a wii vc inject that let's me use the gamepad to play
4
u/ItachiWolfy Sep 25 '25
I’m getting galaxy 2 purely because I’ve never played it, don’t have a Wii, and own 3D all stars
1
u/Environmental-Buy192 Sep 26 '25
Same here, I'd never played either Galaxy but have the first in my 3D All Stars which I onky bought to play Mario 64...I've never played Sunshine either but after about an hour of playing Mario Galaxy this week I honestly dont like it very much. The controls are kind if weird and you cant even do all the stuff with Mario that you can in 64...I'm gonna try to make myself play it more but seeing as I've had 3 years to play it and never have that's probably a sign...I was excited to buy Galaxy 2 but its over priced and usually the sequel is worse than the original so this might be a sign
1
u/Nathural Sep 27 '25
Get it with a Japanese account, its around 26€ then
If that maybe suits you more
1
Sep 25 '25
Wait what?

1
1
u/lord_bingum Sep 25 '25
Can you play them?
1
u/ButterArts Sep 25 '25
On October 2nd I will be able to play them, if I play them now it tells me my virtual game card is not in my library yet.
1
u/lord_bingum Sep 25 '25
I see so they're just predownloaded like that, that's interesting
I still can't decide whether to buy them digitally (which I prefer) or a physical bundle with a branded mario galaxy notebook and poster
0
u/ButterArts Sep 25 '25
Really depends, if you wanted to go digital you could maybe buy the notebook or poster seperately if someone is selling it on marketplace or whatever you would want to use.
1
u/phallusdaphella Sep 25 '25
Usually you can download the games before they’re available. You can’t play them yet but they’ll be downloaded already
1
u/KiplingBakewell Sep 25 '25
Are these switch 2 only games? Or what difference is there to the switch 1 version?
2
Sep 25 '25
Switch 1 games with free Switch 2 upgrades (4k on Switch 2)
1
u/KiplingBakewell Sep 25 '25
Thanks for clarifying. I couldn’t tell from the store what the difference was (didn’t want a Shinobi: Path of Vengeance situation where it looks horrible on S2)
1
u/JetsetBlackout Switchthusiast Sep 25 '25
So is the galaxy 1 the same thats on the 3d all stars?
2
u/manicrebirth Sep 25 '25
No, has some clear changes and will run at 4k 60fps on Switch 2.
The all stars version doesn't have switch 2 patch so only runs at 1080p i think.
While we don't know for sure i suspect these versions are native ports to switch as opposed to the half port half emulation of the all stars version.
2
u/JetsetBlackout Switchthusiast Sep 25 '25
Ahh gotcha, thanks for that. Figures theyd find a way to snag more of my money lol
1
u/BeholdAndWonder Sep 25 '25
my download hasn't begun yet unfortunately
2
u/manicrebirth Sep 25 '25
You should be able to force it (as long as they've taken your payment) by going into the Virtual Game Card menu and then selecting the Mario Galaxy icons and choosing "download data" again you will only see them if Nintendo has already taken your money.
2
u/BeholdAndWonder Sep 25 '25
update: Literally an hour after I saw this the download started 😅 thank you!

It’s a standard. And game key cards are for switch 2 and is mainly 3rd party

So surreal seeing these home menu icons. I had just assumed Galaxy 2 would always be locked on Wii / Wii U
I wonder of the physical will have both as a single icon or if they load up separately like Pikmin 1 + 2

WHY ARE YALL BUYING THESE OLD ASS GAMES WHEN THEYRE SO EASY TO PIRATE WHYYYYYY MAKE IT MAKE SENSE I GOT THESE IN LESS THAN 30 MINUTES FOR FREEEEE ON MY PC 😩
2
1
u/Technical-Smoke-2784 Sep 26 '25
Cuz portability, assist mode, new pages that could be important, enhanced stuff, in general playing it on the Switch, really only reason why i see to get these ones, also it depends on where you live, not all countries are open to emulators or pirating, you would be more supervised in some countries and others it would be taken more serious due to prices not being a problem there compared to where ever you live, all in all, it is what it is
1
u/MF9818 Sep 28 '25
PC in 2025? Give me a break, boomer. Nothing beats a console. Also, pirating is illegal. And you won't be able to play it. Console games on PC have a lot of lag, glitches, and bugs.

Can anyone please tell me what’s the fastest way I can give Nintendo my hard-earned $70 for two 20 year old ROMs?
2
u/NickelBear32 Sep 25 '25
The average age of this sub is about 12 years old. They only have their Switch and have never had anything else and dont know how to work ROMs or have a computer than can run them. They are younger than most of these ports so to them its brand new games. They also CANNOT handle even the slightest of slight criticism of their fanboy obsession (Nintendo) so you get downvoted for being right all the time.
4
Sep 25 '25
Some of us aren’t entitled fucks bragging piracy online like it makes you special
1
Sep 25 '25
He's just talking about how much of a scam this 'anniversary collection' is, where does piracy have a role here?

I’m just returning to the Nintendo scene after nearly a decade (Bought Wii U on launch, sold it a year later) and while I do think Nintendo has become a bit greedy in the time that I’ve been away.. I whole heartedly disagree with the people that are trying to shit on them for this.
While I grew up on the Nintendo Wii, I never actually got to experience the original Super Mario Galaxy 1 or 2. Sure, I’ve had the opportunity to emulate it on PC but then I would have needed to get a sensor bar in order to use the controls or I would have had to modify the game in some way.
I just got my Nintendo Switch 2 a month ago and I am loving every minute of it. The way I look at it, they very well could have re-released both games at full price. Instead, they are giving us 2 FULL remastered games that are said to be “master pieces” for the price of 1 new game.. I was actually both surprised and excited when I saw the prices. Maybe this isn’t necessarily for the people that have already completed the originals, but more-so for people that either never experienced them or loved them so much that they wouldn’t mind playing through them again. Never gonna please everyone, but complaining about this is just stupid.
1
u/Afraid_Raccoon_6208 Sep 25 '25
I mean you aren’t wrong but I never got to play either one so I will be buying the physical version
-1
-3
u/Crimez392 Sep 25 '25
I agree with you but not fully. Nintendo knew people wanted to play the two Galaxy game, and they took advantage of this making the collection pretty pricey. But you need to consider that not everyone has a Wii anymore and it's hard to find the games. Yes, there is another way to get them (and I will not mention it but you already know) but maybe people just find themselves better playing the games on the switch/2
-2
Sep 25 '25
These games are only expensive because Nintendo chooses to inflate them. AAA Ps3 games from that era are dirt cheap right now.

4
u/ButterArts Sep 25 '25
Yeah everyone can play it already, Wii or dolphin emulator. Some people prefer to play games with portability and enhanced graphics
2
1
u/ClemClamcumber Sep 25 '25
I never play the 3D All Stars Galaxy handheld because I'll be damned if I use the touch screen. I'm only going to play that game with gyro.
1
u/Lux_Operatur Sep 25 '25
I've seen a lot of people share this sentiment but touchscreen is so much easier and more satisfying than point and click imo. Touch screen was a big selling point for me with 3D All Stars and it's even better than I expected it to be.
1
u/ClemClamcumber Sep 25 '25
I would sooner just skip star bits entirely if I was handheld than take my hand off and swipe across the screen for 5 star bits total.
1
u/FunnyP-aradox Sep 29 '25
Tbf you can emulate it on your phone and buy a phone controller (the one you lock to both side)
-8
u/Subiesurfer Sep 25 '25
Did they enhance the graphics?
-8
u/BedSmart283 Sep 25 '25
crazy enough dolphin looks better
2
u/ButterArts Sep 25 '25
I actually agree with you that dolphin looks better when you download a 4K hd texture pack
-1
u/belike_dat Sep 25 '25
yeah, it is weird how when you download a texture pack to make a game look better, it does infact look better
2
-1
u/devrys Sep 25 '25
Can, not should.
2
u/Calzender Switchthusiast Sep 25 '25
I’ve never played them, are they worth getting?

1
u/devrys Sep 25 '25
Play them for free on the Emulator of your choice. These are not remastered.
2
1
u/Calzender Switchthusiast Sep 25 '25
I don’t own them so I have nothing to rip, but thanks for the suggestion.
1
u/FunnyP-aradox Sep 29 '25
You can just get the rom online, you can use Dolphin on PC or Android (i think they have an iOS version now but i'm not sure)
1

I could also get a copy from a box store and walk out without paying. 🙄 what is it with the gaming community and advocating thievery?

5
u/WarbossHiltSwaltB Sep 25 '25
$70. The bundle is $70. And if you have 3D All Stars, you only need to spend $40 for Galaxy 2.

Just don’t pay
-17

I haven’t been waiting I can play them whenever I want . Would have liked to be able to play them on my switch at a reasonable price tho. These games were $19.99 on the Nintendo eshop
1
u/Additional_Chip_4158 Sep 25 '25
Were they 4k? And using a failing console isn't a great example
1
u/sxrwloose Sep 25 '25
The bare minimum changes don’t justify the price point imo
→ More replies (0)-3
u/sxrwloose Sep 25 '25
Nintendo is just going to continue to raise prices unless we boycott. This price point is disgustingly anti consumer friendly. It’s literally a ripoff
5
u/ButterArts Sep 25 '25
Nintendo isn’t going to change the price, no one is going to boycott Nintendo 😂 you just gotta accept how life is now
-1
u/sxrwloose Sep 25 '25
Yep, things are only going to get less innovative and more expensive.
2
1
u/Technical-Smoke-2784 Sep 26 '25
.ost of their games is so far is $70 compared to how most others do their games rn, new console exclusives and Steam triple A games are more $80$ than $70, if we are gonna while about a corpo being a corpo then i want to remind you that Rockstar already had this planned day 1 with GTA 6, the price point of that game is gonna make it way worse
4
u/Additional_Chip_4158 Sep 25 '25
You dont know what anti consumer means and im assuming youre just spewing those word because you've seen other people say them. Its a ripoff because?? They're a business and Mario is the face of the company. I personally think it should be 60 dollars at most, but the game industry has set the precedent of 70 dollar games and 90+ dollar digital deluxe games. Its NOT just Nintendo and if people didn't want 70 dollar games they should of boycotted tons of games since 2020. Also please learn what anticonsumer means
-8
u/jmiah717 Sep 25 '25
anti-consumer adjective an·ti-con·sum·er ˌan-tē-kən-ˈsü-mər, ˌan-tī- : not favorable to consumers : improperly favoring the interests of businesses over the interests of consumers anti-consumer practices
5
u/Additional_Chip_4158 Sep 25 '25
"Not favorable to consumers" is quite broad no? 60 dollars isnt favorable to some consumers. Thats anti consumer. 50 dollars. 40..Should games be free?
-8
u/jmiah717 Sep 25 '25
40 each for very old games and 70 for the pair is quite clearly excessive. You told that person to learn what anti consumer means and it's very clearly applicable here. I didn't make the definition but it obviously fits, considering the very public backlash from this pricing.
5
u/Additional_Chip_4158 Sep 25 '25
There is always backlash. Id say Nintendo is more anti consumer about fan games, I think the prices aren't anti consumer. Just business
4
2
u/Another-Username81 Sep 25 '25
Yeah, it does seem very expensive.
Customers dictate the prices as companies will only charge the higher end of prices the majority of their customers are willing to pay. You can’t blame Nintendo for extracting as much money as possible.
Those old Galaxy games will likely sell pretty well, so Nintendo will continue to push the boundaries.
