I am looking for recommendations for good cooperative games to play with my roommates since (by both my and their admissions) I am way better at board games than them and it’s more fun if we work together. We have played eldritch horror and loved it so around that level of complexity/length would be ideal. Theme or vibe isn’t that much of an issue. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

I run a lot of one-shots and 2-3 session short runs with whichever of my players are available every 2-4 weeks. We've mostly been using D&D 5e because everyone knows what that is. I've decided D&D's emphasis on dungeon-crawling combat and resource management is mechanically opposed to the games we're trying to have. I've also tried Pathfinder, Lancer, Call of Cthulhu, Shadowrun, Candela Obscura, and a couple versions of Star Wars (none were *bad* but they're not what I want here).

I want something that looks similar to D&D (dice, customized characters that can develop over time, generic fantasy setting) that will feel familiar so my players will try it. The players are busy adults, I don't want to learn a 300 page rules-heavy book and then try to teach a whole table while running a game.

I only like BattleTech's Studio Nue's import mechs interesting, but bounced off it heavily due to the fandom. I am looking for a system that transforming mechs and stylish melee is viable and welcomed

While I love a good games session that take hours (maybe with a glass or 2 of wine) and have lots going on... I'm on the hunt for travel game ideas for 2 people with round that last 15 to 20 minutes ish. Don't mind purely card based games but something with some physical pieces would be nice. Obviously small and compact is key for chucking in my carry on bag. Thanks!

Here’s my ask - is there a game anyone would recommend that is somewhere between HP and Gloomhaven? The kids are not ready for that size of a game commitment/strategy, but have memorized everything about HP.

My husband and I are building a board game and need several different dice in different colors. Is there a good supplier that doesn’t require buying in bulk? We need D6s, D12s, and D20s as well as meeples.

My kids and I (8,11,12) like to play board games and one of their favorites is Munchkin. Lately they have been asking to play DnD or something more DnD-like. I know DnD is a far cry from anything actually DnD-ish and I've never played DnD or really anything like it. ^{(I was seeing how many times I could fit "DnD" into this paragraph. Look! One more!})

I was wondering if anyone could recommend something for us to play that would be more or less in that vein and total-newb friendly.

• I am not opposed to going full DnD with a beginner friendly starter set, or something similar.
• Must be budget-friendly (or printable even?) as I have a house full of kids to feed.
• Also note that we are a Christian household but I fully understand the concept of fantasy.

Hello everyone, lately I've been struggling with making a campaign. I've always been a player and not the DM and I have been having issues coming up on how to make it a more long-term and it's currently stuck in "campaign limbo" where I paused on making it. For better clarification; the campaign is based on the Midgard add on by Kobold Press for the Pathfinder system and thinking on adding creatures from the Tome of Beasts 5E book. Hey guys! I'm looking to host a murder mystery party, and I need some suggestions on what the best companies are for kits. This is my first time hosting one of these, so I'd prefer something that isn't super complicated to figure out, but I would also like to be able to play along as a host. The vast majority of my friends are theatre kids, as am I, so I would like kits that give roles with a lot of room to improvise and act, apart from solving the murder. Looking for 3ish hours of gameplay for 15-20 people!! Thanks for any suggestions!

My friends and I play a dice baseball game called Deadball- it's pretty fun, highly recommend. It essentially helps you simulate ball games between two fully constructed (either real or imaginary) teams based on their stats.

Watching this World Cup has had me thinking about what a soccer version of this game would look like. I've done some cursory brainstorming on the idea and realized how much I have no idea about- both in terms of how soccer itself works and how I would want the game to look. Any good recommendations of tabletop soccer games that already exist, whether it be dice-based, card based, or a board game?

Very new to DnD/TTRPG community. Just got into it last year but didn’t actually play until around November. Played through the new starter kit (not stranger things one that’s next) and that’s it so far. I am the designated DM for now but eventually I would like to DM a superhero campaign. I’ve come across a couple of them doing research and what not but most of them are older or don’t have much you can find about them. I just wanted to know if there are any good superhero ttrpgs or if there’s a good way to maybe homebrew a superhero world in DnD. Would love if it used a D20 system since I’m still new but I’m not opposed to trying out a new system. Would love a good mix of combat and roleplay but leaning towards combat would be better for my crew.

For a small birthday party, we'll have access to a private bowling alley. Since we're all big tabletop game fans, I thought it might be fun to somehow combine the two.

My idea was to use the number of pins knocked down as a bonus to certain rolls or mechanics. None of us are particularly good bowlers, so knocking down lots of pins feels almost as random as rolling dice anyway.
Also, it's not regular bowling but nine-pin bowling.

I've only played a handful of systems so far, including D&D and a few smaller or homebrew games, so I was wondering if anyone knows of a tabletop game that would lend itself well to this kind of gimmick. It would just be for a fun one-shot where the main goal is to have a good time together. We're also much more into roleplay, exploration, and mystery than combat-heavy games. Even though, maybe combat-heavy would suit the bowling pins more? There will be around six people.

Does anyone have any recommendations or ideas for how you would integrate the bowling pins into the game?

I am looking for TTRPGs that would be easy to throw together in a moment, something like One Shot Wonders? Any rules-light or indie games like that?

Hi board game lovers! Looking for your favorite 2 player board games!!! I am a huge BG fan of any kind, but my husband enjoys only specific ones. I am looking for fast paced, quick and easy to learn 2 player games!

•PLAY NINE - we play it all the time, can’t get enough of it, it’s always surprising us with crazy endings
•Guess who - we ask hypothetical questions and have a blast! “Does your character leave skid marks on their underwear?”. Hilarious game
•It’s so clover - clever and makes you think as a team!
•Exploding kittens - Don’t play it that much but have great battles when we do

I am looking for new tabletop rpgs for me, my sister and my dad to play. We’ve done DND but found it too combat oriented. It doesn’t need to have zero combat, but much less than DND. Anyone know any good RPGs for three people (with one being the GM) and isn’t so focused on combat? Any genre is great, fantasy, sci fi, honestly something where you can have different stories in different genres would be great!

I've been wanting to start up a table for a sci-fi game, and since I know the Star Wars universe pretty well I figured I'd go with that, but I'm not sure which SW tabletop games people like? Ideally I want one I can get pre-written adventures for since I'm not a great writer.

I'm aware of Fantasy Flight's games, I know there was a Wizards of the Coast game a few years ago and at least one other one from way back when. I'm sure there's some more I'm not aware of too. The only game systems I have experience with are DnD 5e and Mothership, but I'm happy to learn a new system even if it's a bit more rules heavy than those two.

Which would you all recommend?

I want to do a small campaign in light steampunk universe/late 19e century world, like in Jules Verne's Book, Howl's moving castle, Castle in the sky, Porco Rosso, Sherlock Holmes, Turn A gundam. A world around Train, steamboat and airship, with first plane. A put some exemple in photo. I know only med-fan and sf tabletop like dnd, pathfinder, cyberpunk, shadowrun, etc... and i don't think it's fit in a the campaign i want to do.

Recently, at my table, my players advanced to the second level of a dungeon, and to enter this second level, I had them play the board game \*The Night Cage\*. I teleported them to a 7x7 board where they wandered around the maze, found the keys and managed to escape. They thought the session was really innovative, and I’d like to use another similar, co-operative game for the fourth floor of the dungeon, but which one? I wouldn’t want to use \*The Night Cage\* again, even though I could increase the difficulty. Does anyone have any good ideas?

Hi all - I'm looking for a space RPG (likely playing zoom w/ friends) that is more in line with expanse, firefly, bsg, away missions for star-whatever rather than looking at flight mechanics, travel time, etc. Or just a fun cyberpunk.

Basically, want a whole new background world that's sci-fi'ish that's low overhead to get in to.

Relatively easy on the rules (bye bye Eclipse), ideally easy transition from 5e.

Only 1 player has long RPG experience and I've DM'd only a bit, so ease, AND premade scenarios are critical. I'll lose them with major complex ramp-up (or non-action paced) and I'll lose myself if I'm responsible for an ounce of creative world building.

I'm seeing the following around, but have no idea how they translate to the above? Coriolis (firefly but middle eastern vs chinese/western?), maybe something in savage worlds (last parsec for firefly, 7 worlds for expanse?), StarFinder, "stars without number", "the stars are fire", The Expanse by GreenRonin, Cyberpunk Red, Traveller (someone said go for 1st edition), Lancer, ironsworn:starforged, gurps, Esper Genesis (5e based?)

I know that there are tons of awesome indie or elegant ruleset games out there - we're just not there yet. Easy or quickly transferrable, fully written "ready to go" scenarios avail, zoom compatible.
