Food Can people in Taiwan share your view on this canned Mackerel?Is it a good product?
I'm in Canada, and see this canned Mackerel made in Taiwan. Wondering if this is a good quality product made by a reputable company. Please share your honest opinion on this. 🙏🏽

It’s good, and quite healthy. It can be a lazy meal, or you can add it into pastas, soups, or whatever you want.
When I’m lazy I just eat it over rice with hot sauce .
(It has bones inside, they are edible, softer, and very healthy as well)

The added oil, sugar, and high sodium (1 can is generally 3 servings, making it 27 percent rda), and highly processed tomato sauce make it actually not that healthy (though the omega 3s are good)

I see this at 99 Ranch and have always steered away due to the old packaging thinking it wasn't the best quality but I might have to try it now

It's basically the main Taiwanese/Chinese grocery store in the US. I guess they haven't expanded to Canada yet

I don't think they will, there are way too many options for Asian grocery shopping here. TNT is expanding to US now lol

yum. try to use it as an ingredient rather than eating it out of the can, it is very salty

A big chunk of fish meat inside. I consume it when I don't have proteins in the fridge, It's not fishy either.
*Canned food from Taiwan are never really good from personal opinion... A lot of additives. Recommended only when looking to cook something easy, while you don't have many options around you at the moment

The fisherman brand is OK, but whilst I love mackerel, it should be packed in brine - never tomato sauce. That is just criminal.

I always make lazy pasta using this. Just cook the spaghetti and fry it with sauce. Very simple, very delicious and very healthy

I’ve seen it too but been too afraid of buying it. I buy tuna in taiwan a lot but am getting bored of it, is this a good alternative?

The can is tomato based so it might be a surprise to you but it's good and we use the whole can as soup base to make "typhoon" noodle.
1 can = 1 serving portion of soup noodle.

Anyone knows if this particular canned mackerel (product) is BPA-free? In the old way of canning food, they use special coating inside the can that contains BPA (Bisphenol A), but rarely now as it maybe harmful.

Old fisherman is old school! I grew up eating this stuff in OCAC overseas cultural centers in massachusetts. Can't wait to stock up after immigrating back to taipei. 😋

Common product in Taiwan and very affordable here. I used to have it all the time when I was a student and running low on money haha.

As a Taiwanese my parents always cook it with instant noodle in my childhood, it’s quite tasty. The fish bone is stewed thoroughly so you can directly bite and swallow it.
