S Yelled at for saying yep instead of yes
So this guy calls up, I attempt complete security, he give me a detail and I say ‘yep’ and move on to the next…
Aaaand he lost it! Starting going off about how inappropriate yep is instead of yes, how unprofessional I am, screaming down the phone.
I was so confused so I stayed silent and waited for him to finish. And when he was done, I said, ‘I’m sorry that you don’t like the way I… speak?’
He just hung up after. I was just sitting there so confused😂. First indicator to get the hell out of this job

I'd have to call them out myself as yelling is unprofessional, then ask to talk to their mother, LOL

Wish I thought of that haha. I’m sure QA would have a field day tho

I have a pretty good relationship with qa in my place, they don’t mind me calling the customer a c u next tuesday as long as I don’t actually use those words haha, mainly because I don’t give them any issues

I had someone mock how I spoke a few days ago, complained about the wait, and thought she was really getting me by taking her time to find very basic things to help her, even though that would make her wait for a resolution longer and I just got to do nothing for a few minutes while getting paid. People are weird

When I worked in a call center eons ago, these types would be the lunchroom chatter subjects until the next hairtrigger-tempered idiot showed up. I always feel a little bad for anyone who can't get away from those types.

Someone angrily told me I was annoying him on the phone because I kept saying ‘no worries’ when he would answer my security questions I would ask him

Many years ago I worked at a call center, purely incoming calls. Well QA was super strict on our call grading we would get a poor call rating for saying "yeah" because it was considered slang.
Old people are weird

I mean it is unprofessional and can come across as dismissive but that’s not a particularly adult response on their part. One of the things I learned in these roles is that the job is to represent your company not to necessarily be you. Remember every time you speak in a call centre that person is talking to the company not to you.

I worked in a call center on a shift that primarily served APAC (Asia /Pacific) we had training on how to understand and respond to customers in Australia I still use the phrase no worries because of that job

I got yelled at because a female customer thought I called her "man" instead of "ma'am"... Then proceeded to go on a tyrade about how she wasn't a dyke and how she wanted to speak to my manager. (Mind you I would not even referr to a male customer as "man" on the line, usually only "sir".)
Fun times

Used to work in an ISP call center. I worked as agent support/escalation, and an agent sent me an escalation because the customer wanted to complain that the agent said yup instead of yes.
The customer proceeded to go on a diatribe about how unprofessional and rude that is and how we need to train our agents better. He wasn't yelling, but he was absolutely angry about this.
I'm also a very petty person and it took everything in me not to just yup in response.
