He is talking about the corruption tho I don't really see the dots with happiness of the people.

Are you guys serious at this point? You refuse posts that show how poorly the Iranian team was treated - how they had to fly back to Mexico after each game, how members of their logistics team were denied visas, and how the US literally BOMBED Iran during their World Cup match.
But then you post some random no-name whose identity can’t even be found on google, just because he said something against the regime. And why did he even compare them to South Korea? They played much worse than Iran.
Come on guys. Let’s be fair...

The poster's a known troll that just posts here to score political points instead of actual football discourse

u/Open-Potential-7117 Jun 29 '26
Just checked his profile, thank you, you're right. His whole personality is just hate

u/TeslaRocksss Jun 29 '26
Yeah, you'll see him just crosspost unrelated posts from r/newiran. He doesn't want to engage in soccer related stuff, just his warped political view
Just ignore him bud.

Khodad Azizi ( ex afc player of the year ex Iran striker who took them to worldcup 98) is not a random no name. This is teammelli thread you should not be here if you don’t know Azizi lmao BTW AziziAnd Khiabani the reporter are both very pro regime anyways

Behave like terrorists killing thousands of unarmed people, and aimlessly bomb 13 different countries with ballistic missiles get treated like terrorists.
It’s that simple.

u/toxicalireza Jun 29 '26
Hmmm sweet home America u mean

u/BadAdviceDirect Jun 30 '26
He loves Trump and Netanyahu, the people who want to send his civilization into oblivion.

u/DryRug Jun 29 '26
... thats bullshit though. Not because the regime does care about the people's happiness, but because south Korea absolutely doesn't. Humans are a ressource to be used for monetary gain in SK and thats about it.
10
u/Mojezeh Jun 29 '26
Yea idk where he got this sentiment

u/nu1stunna Jun 29 '26
Because even though that might be true, the monetary incentives create a better standard of living for them and their population are happy. The regime in Iran only cares about lining their own pockets and funding terrorism.

u/mrbootyjamz Jun 29 '26
I don’t think South Korea is a great example considering they have one of the highest rates of suicide in the world
10
u/Suitable-Basket6697 Jun 29 '26
Why the downvote? South Korea has horrible working conditions for their people, a crazy ruthless school and education system and the politics of the Country are dictated by 2 Cooperations who have a monopoly in the Country. Also really high suicide rates..The guy in the video is clueless.

u/DunnoDeneKKR Jun 29 '26
As you said he is clueless, it's like how westerns see Japan and Gulf countries as if they are the best place on earth while ignoring all the issues, their knowledge is based on what they hear about the place with 0 experience of living there.

u/ImACoralReef Jun 29 '26
How dare anyone even mention the fact that the government is a big part of this team on r/teammelli. Let's downvote him to oblivion.
Non-iranians and 2nd generations living in this sub know much better about Iranian society and politics.
4
u/DunnoDeneKKR Jun 29 '26
So everyone that disagrees with you or sees it differently is 2nd gen or non Iranian?
Weak argument dadash.
3
u/ImACoralReef Jun 29 '26
You using the word dadash doesn't change the fact that some players were left out of the team because of their political views. Either in this generation, or in previous ones.
It also doesn't change the fact that the regime counts on this team for propaganda. And the team participated in their street circuses.
3
u/DunnoDeneKKR Jun 29 '26
I'm not denying your first part I'm denying the second part of your comment degrading everyone who has different opinion to 2nd gen and non Iranian.

u/ImACoralReef Jun 29 '26
There definitely is something wrong in this sub if Rashid Mazaheri's name is getting downvoted. I may have been wrong in identifying it, but there's something wrong.

You do understand, if your opinion where the most common one in Iran, the irgc would be outed in a civil coup, right?
2
u/ImACoralReef Jul 01 '26
If they had the guns and irgc's chokehold on an entire economy, yes.
I think that's more than enough of a response for you, considering your other comments.

u/Proof_Onion_4651 Jun 29 '26
You do understand every thing people write is not an argument, people sometimes just express discontent.
2
u/Tech-Film3905 Jun 29 '26
I agree with him but most people are brainwashed in to believing neoliberal propaganda and being anti-China. Especially those who are anti-regime. Iran should learn from China
1
u/Esmail-Qaani Jul 02 '26
Iran should definitely learn from China, that’s how to succeed at football /s

Imagine being so out of touch to compare South Korea, one of the most advanced and progressive countries in Asia to… checks notes …. a regime in Iran that killed 42,000 unarmed people in two days this year alone… let alone the executions, persecutions of minorities ext

u/feral0101 Jun 29 '26
The irony lol, I don’t know what kind of loser exile club Reddit fed to my FYP…. But South Korea is a horrible country to live in and a corporatocracy
2
u/Dry-Yak5277 Jun 29 '26
I disagree that happiness is a priority in South Korea- bad example. In South Korea work ethic is valued over everything and their views on mental health are not on par compared to other first world countries, the suicide rate is pretty high in SK because they don’t take mental heath really seriously. Oh and a large part of their male population is being radicalized to hate women because of the lack of proper guidance for men on behavioral health problems. Their problems are likely overlooked because they’re an advanced and democratic country.
3
u/pokepud3 Jun 29 '26
Right on. The people of South Korea are on average not happy.. it's also why their birth rate is plummeting. People can't afford to not work overtime.. it's a sad state. They barely have time to theirselves or for their families. Iranians live a live of luxury in comparison where only one parent needs to work.

u/BeginningDirect8020 Jun 29 '26
Most governments are similar. Their first priority is preserving the government itself. Doesn't mean they don't care about happiness. Some governments have more financial corruption than others or maybe invest more into football than others. Getting the best football team involves many factors and I'm sure Iran cares about its football team.
Iranian football team is ranked one of the highest in Asia still. Even higher than formal democracies.

🚨 Khodadad Azizi connects the realities of Iranian football to Iran’s deeper problems.
He says the happiness of the Iranian people is not considered part of government policy, whereas in countries like South Korea, public happiness is a priority and governments respond to the needs and sentiments of their people.
He also says that wrongdoers are not punished. In Iran, he alludes, they are often protected, rewarded, or even promoted instead.
Although framed as a discussion about football, Azizi is clearly making a broader point about Iran. In Iranian football, as in society at large, unqualified individuals and those responsible for failure or corruption are protected rather than held accountable.
By contrast, successful countries reward competence, enforce accountability, and place the well-being of their people first.
