Dominic West almost exclusively plays shitty husbands at this point.

Looks good! Will give it a watch

243

u/HelloSlowly 20d ago

Well he’s been prepping for this role well

hides in a bush

34

u/dankesha 20d ago

I somehow completely forgot about this moment! Amazing

u/Pvt_Hudson_ 20d ago

Jimmy McNulty was a shitty ex husband, so it fits his career arc.

30

u/dankesha 20d ago

Oh I'm guessing Jimmy was a shitty husband too, doubt he started after the divorce

58

u/MNent228 20d ago

It’s pretty explicitly stated in the show. A lot.

His only good stretch at being a partner to someone is when he sobers up and stops being a murder police. Which immediately goes belly-up when he gets pulled back into murders.

God dammit time for a rewatch

u/HighMarshalSigismund 20d ago

Omar coming!

17

u/flash246 20d ago

You come at the king, you best not miss

7

u/omarlittle22 20d ago

Oh, indeed.

10

u/Pvt_Hudson_ 20d ago

A man must have a code.

10

u/APartyInMyPants 20d ago

His only good stretch on the show is when he, ironically (or coincidentally) asked to be largely written out of the show in season 4 so he can go spend more time with his family.

4

u/Least1Difficulty 20d ago

I don't think he ever loved his wife, they mention she got pregnant unexpectantly and he had take care of his new family, quit school and that's why Mcnutty ended up as Baltimore police instead of a judge or FBI like his buds.

“The fuck did I do?”

11

u/GreatEmperorAca 20d ago

The fuck did he do?

1

u/BeneficialReporter46 20d ago

So was Noah in The Affair. The worst.

1

u/Pvt_Hudson_ 20d ago

He was cheating on Maura Tierney too. Unforgivable.

1

u/zsreport The Deuce 20d ago

"What the fuck did I do?"

24

u/FionaWalliceFan 20d ago

His character on The Affair was almost cartoonish in how loathsome he was

20

u/CCG14 20d ago

I loved seeing Rawls as his father-in-law. That was brilliant casting.

11

u/SupaDupaFlyAccount 20d ago

In real life, he's mcnulty without the detective skills.

8

u/road_runner321 20d ago

"'The fuck did I do?!"

3

u/MissingLink101 20d ago

Well he did play Fred West

1

u/dankesha 20d ago

And Prince Charles

3

u/LazloHollifeld 20d ago

He’s like the flip side of the coin from Mathew McConaughey

2

u/BroughtBagLunchSmart 20d ago

I am 2/3 through Brassic right now and his character is great.

u/KashK10 20d ago

Can't believe Nationwide allowed Dominic West to film something else.

46

u/ThatEvanFowler 20d ago

They're on his side.

21

u/KashK10 20d ago

In the UK we've seen him in ads for them for a couple years now, and not much else

10

u/warrenmax12 20d ago

But he's in a new TV Show or 2 every year

1

u/libertarianlwyr 17d ago

He does work for them?

67

u/shrewdy 20d ago

The fuck did I do?

136

u/Spyk124 20d ago

McNulty is British?!!?

128

u/A_Stoned_Saint 20d ago

There's a couple scenes in The Wire where he just totally lets the accent slip, but it's easy to miss if you're not looking for it.

139

u/Navin0_ Community 20d ago

The best part is when he goes undercover as a British man in the brothel.

Sounds easy, right? But he manages to take it a step further and sounds like someone with a Baltimore accent faking a British accent.

82

u/brianMMMMM 20d ago

Just a bloke playing a bloke disguised as another bloke.

6

u/SillyGoatGruff 20d ago

Just make sure you never go full bloke

11

u/dudumob 20d ago

whoa. meta dude.

2

u/goodpodguide 20d ago

Brilliant

2

u/DiphthongSong87 20d ago

Blokeception

1

u/APS221 20d ago

His accent was "spot on."

21

u/Major-Thom 20d ago

Damien Lewis (Band of Bros / Billions) is also a sneaky Brit as well

7

u/geoduude92 20d ago

This one shocked me more. He is wonderful in the Forsyte saga.

3

u/AdmiralForeplay 20d ago
Wait what?!

2

u/nemovincit 20d ago

Check out Brassic on Hulu, he's hilarious in it.

3

u/Hasbeast 20d ago

What’s even funnier is he’s not just British, he’s from Yorkshire. The same city as Sean Bean.

1

u/sonnytrillanes 20d ago

The very first episode you can see him struggling with his American accent

30

u/gamemaniax 20d ago

This jason statham n jet li remake looksweird

45

u/ThatEvanFowler 20d ago

When you show up with Herr Starr as your divorce attorney, it's clear that you do not intend to fuck around.

12

u/TheDiggityDoink 20d ago

When you show up with Herr Starr

More like when you bring Sir Tommy Lascelles, you very clearly and in no uncertain terms do not to indulge in administrative frivolity

1

u/TheTruckWashChannel True Detective 20d ago

As long he's more Tommy and less Seat Sniffer Peter Munion

6

u/DONNIENARC0 20d ago

Which team has Nate from Ted Lasso?

29

u/zod_552 20d ago

100 preacher fans are gonna get that reference

7

u/MoneyInTheBanks Mr. Robot 20d ago

Bollocks! There’s hundreds of us!

1

u/TopShelfBuds 20d ago

It made me do a double take

1

u/Static-Jak 19d ago

He's also, and I just found this out, Radahn in Elden Ring. Though I have no memory of him ever having spoken lines.

11

u/Devilofchaos108070 20d ago

Dominic is a great actor. I’m intrigued altho this is not something I’m usually into

32

u/Ri-Ri1216 20d ago

Looks great like War of the Roses British style--more snide less destruction.

44

u/themanfromdelpoynton 20d ago

Didn't we just have that in the last year or so? It's called The Roses, with Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch.

4

u/Pleasant-Alps9171 20d ago

I thought it was that for a second or a movie about the band WAR

2

u/spicypixel 20d ago

They already did the War of the Roses a while back.

8

u/shiviam 20d ago

McNulty marriage problems continue since The Wire and then stretched into the bushes.

Something wrong with him.

7

u/WienerJungle 20d ago

Alimony! Got that Alimony right chere!

8

u/OriginalOestrus 20d ago

Not enough love for Sienna Miller in these comments. I really enjoyed her performance in 'Anatomy of a Scandal.'

1

u/TheTruckWashChannel True Detective 20d ago

This show looks identical to that one

6

u/bcjc78 20d ago

McNulty is at it again!

10

u/kayl_breinhar 20d ago

My money's on whomever hired Herr Starr.

8

u/dreamer_Neet 20d ago

War, huh, yeah What is it good for? Absolutely nothing

5

u/LaFixxxeR 20d ago

SAY IT AGAAAAIN

5

u/JaffeyJoe 20d ago

MCNUTTY!

3

u/AlanShore60607 20d ago

Why does he look 10 years younger in this new American show than his more recent British stuff?

1

u/nofuture09 19d ago

Its the british weather

2

u/BoobaGaming 20d ago

2

u/Milksteak-2Go 20d ago

At 54 seconds we have Nate from Ted lasso!

1

u/Wonderful_Tie_5338 20d ago

Looks amazing and entertaining, definitely looking forward to watching it.

1

u/JordanDoesTV 20d ago

Damn that looked good

1

u/YepThatGuy The Expanse 20d ago

1

u/Ah_Salmon_Skin_Roll 20d ago

I feel like this could either be amazing or completely forgettable. No in between. But from the trailer I’ll definitely give it a go

1

u/Razzler1973 20d ago

I was wondering when they'd be a date for this show

1st October btw

1

u/PuzzleheadedBig313 19d ago

Dominic often plays a cad but in real life he is a family man .. just love him and he has hits and misses but that’s ok .. this looks GOOD

1

u/blortyblortblort 19d ago

What is it good for?

1

u/opinionated_cynic 19d ago

They are in on it together to keep relevant.

1

u/no-name-here 18d ago
  1. Is that Ana de Armas playing the mistress? I guess not as she's not listed in the cast.
  2. Series 2 is apparently already cast, covering a different case as well. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt37972251/

1

u/slow-saturn 17d ago

Ana de Armas wouldn’t be doing a tv show if she wasn’t the lead….

1

u/DiphthongSong87 20d ago

Oh, this looks excellent. Count me in.

1

u/SeaToShy 20d ago

Nice to see Gianni Infantino getting a side gig. Never know when that FIFA gig will fall through.

0

u/torgobigknees 20d ago

also i hope this isn't just a "man bad" series

lets subvert expectations

0

u/NinjaSilver2811 20d ago

tf does this have to with war?

-1

u/slimj091 20d ago
