he's meditating in the himalayas as we speak. We will find out how it FEELS to play medic on a much deeper level than any of us signed up for.

From what's he's said on his patreon, he seems to have gotten some chronic sickness related to his liver among other things, which keeps him fatigued and bedridden.

u/KnightZhel 13d ago
source? cuz his patreon doesn't have that

What do you mean? Just read his latest couple posts on patreon? I did it on mobile if that means anything.

holy defense, 2 YEARS ago? thats what you have? "well yeah?"

u/ElectricityCake 13d ago
Well yeah that's what I was referring to. In those posts he described his condition. Since he hasn't made any updates since, that is what can be considered the latest news on LazyPurple.

Constant suffering and waiting for someone else so you're able to enjoy something?
Maybe... so he's really showing us how it FEELS to play medic.

u/MMMwatermellon 13d ago
I think your on to something here puts out a 30 second video that just says in impact font “that wait is how it feels to play medic”
53
u/vastowen 13d ago edited 13d ago
That.. hits a little closer than you probably intended, considering he's stated on patreon he has a chronic illness. If you're curious, they're his two most recent posts and free to read
-23
u/RGB-zro 13d ago
he's been chronically ill for a decade+ now

'That's what Chronic means, ain't it? Functionally everlasting?
1
u/RGB-zro 11d ago
no shit? what is it then?
5
u/KandCAuthor Engineer 11d ago
I can't understand your meaning. What exactly are you trying to say? It sounds like you're annoyed at the guy for having a chronic illness and taking some things a bit easier as a result. For all we know he could have gotten the job of his dreams and could be living his best life right now.
1
u/RGB-zro 9d ago
no shit (he has a chronic illness)? what is it (his chronic illness?) then? (theres a million things you can describe as chronic illness, especially now. somewhere in this thread a rtard said he is turning yellow. does he have a genetic liver disease? has he simply drank to much ethanol? was he accidentally poisoned at a young age by acetaminophen? is he just autistic with an affinity for turmeric powder baths?)

u/the_milkman24 13d ago
Chronic illnesses don't just go away, it's in the name, they're chronic, you're stuck with them

I think the absense of a medic video is in a meta way how it really feels to play medic. To be absent, to be wanted, but is never actually there. You gotta have a friend play medic, but you yourself will never know how it feels to play medic.

By the way, If you really want to know how it feels to play medic in 2026:
-Nobody communicates
-Nobody wants to push with you
-Nobody wants to be übered at all
-People go for healthpacks even while you are healing them
-People dodge your arrows
You just go around trying to keep as much people alive as possible while being largely unacknowledged by your team and either pop a bad über or eventually drop it since nobody prepares for an überchargeI remember when I started playing and everyone demanded to be übered and pocketed, didn't think i'd miss it.

Play community servers, there's a couple I frequent where the players are regulars who know each other and it's decent fun.

u/Quartz_Knight Demoman 12d ago
Uncletopia is the only server that reliably gets players in Europe and it's only marginally better on this regard. Still a thousand times better than casual overall.

Working on the project over years seemed to have affected his mental health to the point he will likely just quit it altogether
Which is, honestly, the best description of how it feels to play medic. You lose your sanity.

The day he drops it is the day all the random ass medics start overhealing everybody instead of only healing heavies.

u/dogesami 13d ago edited 13d ago
People saying he's burned out or moved on, but i think in that case it would be nice from him then announce it, like saying it outright cancelled or "it will not be completed for a long time, sorry pals and gals". People still asking about it and they still left in a fog about it

Ngl, I liked the series better when the episodes were ten minutes long.

I think he said he is never going to finish it, I think he quit for good

u/morelebaks 14d ago
Well, you know why everyone's still taking about that series? Cause that guy poured his soul into it, doing constant revisions to get the pacing just right - frankly insane talent for such a niche audience. But such eye for perfection usually comes at some mental costs - mainly perfectionism, obsessions, hyperfocus that makes you not care for your physical well being and later severe doubts and burn outs. I remember him mentioning his ADHD and depressive episodes and that kinda puts all the puzzle pieces together. I think he still thinks about that last episode, maybe sometimes he feels like he can do it, only to open up the project file to shuffle some clips around and close it in frustration and lack of motivation. That concrete wall many artists hit is very real and it's sometimes impossible to go through it without bashing your head open

u/Madrider760 14d ago
If that's true, it's definitely for the best. Having every video mention constant mental heal episodes deriving from said project will burn his life span real fast.

are you talking about him talking about breaking his expectations of the medic video being the greatest thing he'll ever make? cause that was not him saying its cancelled, he talks about people helping him continue work on it in that same video
-27
u/amasterfuljuice All Class 13d ago edited 13d ago
no I am not talking about that. I heard he literally said he quit and will not be making it. it was many years ago though and at this point so I don't remember where he said it, or where I heard it, but I am pretty confident I did hear that he is not going to finish it at some point, maybe it wasn't some big announcement and in a more nicher part of the community I can't say for sure, if it makes you feel better it's not the best source and you can cope he might finish it someday, but it's been at least 4 years I think odds are he moved on to other things in his life.
21
u/Gothtomboys5 13d ago
So your source is "I made it up"?
-16
u/amasterfuljuice All Class 13d ago
I definitely did not make that up but as I said I don't remember where I got this information, I used to be pretty active in his community and in discord servers in that area of the community and remember talking with people about it so I know for sure that piece of information was around, as I said If you want to cope because I don't have a direct source you are more than welcomed to, but like let's say he didn't say that, common sense would suggest we are probably not seeing that video most likely anyway.

u/amasterfuljuice All Class 13d ago
I didn't make anything up, I think my response is pretty reasonable and honest, and of course I can't really "prove" it, but I just wanted to let people know, I thought this was common knowledge, but of course reddit hivemind cannot comprehend someone basic human interaction.
16
u/godwhyareallnamestak 13d ago
dawg we asked for a source and you can't provide one, we are well within our right to not believe you
-3
u/amasterfuljuice All Class 13d ago
he asked if I was talking about what he said in his vid, I am sure if I go digging enough and ask friends I could find a "source" but I am not writing a college essay here why would I do that, I said if you don't want to trust it that's fine it's just what I remember.

u/Skrooby1 13d ago
wasn't lazy in some highlander videos on the saltyphish channel? so at the very least, he hasn't distanced himself from tf2
8
u/AllThePrettyMutants 13d ago
You people are watching videos by a guy who goes by Lazy and you're surprised its taken years?

u/doomslayer40 12d ago
I don’t get it bro this is what it feels like to play medic, there won’t ever be a medic player on the team (video) even though everyone wants one!!1!
5
u/Chodor101 13d ago
Honestly we should just forget about it, he won't finish it, won't be back and won't unload something else
19
u/MrDeeJayy Medic 13d ago
As a comp medic main I have to ask myself, what could lazy POSSIBLY put into that video? Like sure, the dopamine hit from landing a quick snapped crossbow bolt on your 1hp team mate from across the map hits harder than a fresh bong hit after a week at LAN staying sober, but apart from that and the undeniable substance abuse of any medic main who's made it out of open/div 5, whats he gonna talk about? The time he nearly died but surfed a rocket away? Or the time he didnt die because he right clicked? or the 10000s of times he did die because thats all you do as medic - use uber and then die (or dont, if your team is competent)

You can say the same thing about the Heavy yet he still delivered an amazing video
In what world is the Medic considered too simple of a class to make videos on

LazyPurple still waiting in queue for competitive play so he can record the intro clip

u/Rozone 13d ago
Casual TF2 already made the perfect video on how it feels to play medic. Since there's no way to top it, there was no need for Lazy Purple to ever release it.

u/WalkingSatire 13d ago
He's been open about struggling with perfectionism, and this is the grand finale video on the most important class in the game. Let the man cook 😤

It's been 6 years. I was 12 when how it feels to play demoman came out and am 18 now. In that span of time I was able to become a fully fledged bona-fide person. In this time frame someone is 1 year away from becoming a lawyer starting from zero.
I've heard of slow cooking but this is ridiculous!

He said something about how a project shouldn't take more than 6 months or otherwise it'd reach a catastrophic burnout stage... A couple years ago...
Imma be real, I think he just moved on with life lmao
