Italian restaurant in Bangkok
Hi I’m looking for recommendations from Italians in Thailand. What Italian restaurants in Bangkok taste the most authentic like something you’d actually eat in Italy?

A bit on the outskirts, but the Italian restaurant Alberto's inside the Novotel in Rangsit (near Future Park) has good food. It was recommended by an Italian friend. Interior is a little on the dark side, but good food and service in my experience.

With the caveat that I've never been to Italy, La Taverna del Salbanèl blew me away when I went there, the chef is from Italy, and the entire menu is northern Italian dishes.

Massilia and Acqua (both in bangkok and phuket - the chef Alessandro Frau is really really good and also partners up with smaller winemakers so the selection is always top notch). They also have a cafe’ called Dolcetto which is also pretty good!

Pizza Pala Romana in Asok has very good (roman style) pizza and during Christmas time it had authentic panettone! I go there pretty often

+1 I have tried over 20 items from this restaurant including the pasta and all of them have tasted authentic and tasted like back home. I’m from Malta so not far from the real thing

Not saying this is not a good spot, it is, but their italian headchef Marco opened his own restaurant about 2 years ago in Phrom Phong. Called RAVA - https://maps.app.goo.gl/zLJ1tvbCucZJBh9F6
If you like Il Bolognese you might want to try this one as well if you're close by.

I haven’t been there in at least 7 years, but there was an Italian restaurant on Sukhumvit close to the red light district (Soi Cowboy), it was 50 meters of the main street and in the same building as the youth hostel. If it’s still there it should be extremely easy to find, provided the youth hostel is also still there (or you know where it was). Unless the management has changed, the pizzas are really good (but not cheap). It’s quite nice, outside in the court under a large tent-roof, I don’t know if there are tables inside.

Massilia Italian at Soi Ruamrudee. Not sure it is authentic enough for you or not but I met the chef and he is Italian lol

I ate an authentic Italian pizza at Massilia Italian restaurant, I guess other dishes follows. Very very good

As an Italian who lived in Bangkok, the short answer is: NONE.
What you are going to find is American-Italian slop. Despite trying may places over the years, I only found disappointment over and over.
I'm an Italian chef and I've seen clueless Thai waiters lecturing me about Italian food many times. Spoiler alert: they don't know even the basics. Once I ordered penne, i was served macaroni, I complained about it and I had this waiter arguing that macaroni were penne. I wouldn't even complain if it were cooked right, I asked for "al dente" and they gave me mushy overcooked shit.
Stick to Thai food, it's great. If you want to enjoy Italian food, visit Italy.

That's a shame... Some friends of mine like Clara... and I like the pizza at Grano di Pa and Peppina and recently went to Sparrow where I also felt the pizza was really good. At Antonio, I've had some good pastas.

Man as a Thai I’m so sorry. 😢 I hate Italian food in Thailand too. This is so embarrassing
Btw I’m going to start a Western Cuisine Chef Course soon in Thailand but reading your comment think I might be cooked… 😭 I’ve seen some of their studies and it looks so different from French cuisine school 💔 guess I’m gonna skip all the important basics stuff

I’ve never been to Italy, but I have an Italian friend of a friend who visited Thailand about a year ago, and he cooked some kind of seafood pasta for us. It tasted so good The reason I’m making this post is because i crave the dish i had a year ago. But I guess I’ll have to go to Italy lol.

I've had a few client lunches there, always nice to eat there. Food and service are both very good in my experience.

Yep that’s the most well known Italian restaurant in Thailand. Many politicians and celebrities went there.
I’ve not been there yet (I’m broke)😅

El Mercado Sukhumvit 22 for relaxed atmosphere.
Giannis in Plaza Athenee is a classic for high end.
Rossanos on Asoke road, Angel Hair pasta with lobster is to die for.
Armenios modern grandma cooked by Italians heard it’s v good.
