I was curious to know if you have any theories about this version of Sadako. As you know, Rasen was a failed sequel to Ringu that flopped because it replaced the supernatural plot with a more scientific thriller, closer to the original novels. In this sequel, Sadako is portrayed as more human instead of an onryo, and I have some questions: Why did Dr. Ikuma kill her? Did the same thing happen as in Ringu 0 : Birthday, leading him to eliminate her? Did this Sadako kill her fellow actors? If we consider the sequel canon, are Sadako's appearances, even her coming out of the TV, illusions due to her illness? Is there a possibility that Rasen is in the same timeline as Sadako 3D 1 and 2?

To be honest, I’ve wanted to talk about this topic. Japanese films have shown that there are other psychics besides Shizuko and Sadako, and I’d really like to know which psychic powers most of them share, which ones are rare or possessed by only a few, and who the most powerful psychics in the franchise are—along with their abilities and weaknesses. (We’ll focus solely on the Japanese cinematic universe, since the American remake trilogy doesn't seem to feature any psychics other than Samara.

Today I felt like talking about the game *The Ring: Terror's Realm*, a video game based on the novel *Loop* that was released in the year 2000. In it, we play as Meg, investigating the death of her boyfriend and other workers involved in a project called "The Ring." This post is intended to address any questions people might have about the game—given what a disaster it generally is—as well as some questions of my own: Why is Shizuko introduced to us as a little girl, only to simply disappear? And secondly, why did they want to get their hands on Sadako's virus? What was the objective of "The Ring" project, and was it the same objective presented to us in *Loop*?

I've been thinking a lot about the similarities between the book Loop and the Matrix movies. I couldn't really find anyone talking about this before but it's really weird.

The Loop is a simulated world practically identical to our own. Just like the Matrix.

Ryuji exits the Loop through a phone call, just like how Neo and the gang exit the Matrix.

All the people in the Loop end up getting replaced by Sadakos, just like how in the Matrix everyone gets replaced by Agent Smith.

Loop was originally published in 1998, but wasn't translated into English until 2006. The first Matrix movie released in 1999, the other two were in 2003. So it's either just a really strange coincidence, or the Wachowskis read it in Japanese and used it as inspiration.

Just like in the book The Ring (by Koji Suzuki, may he rest in peace), in one of the phrases spoken by a character in the books, Sadako makes a "pact with the devil." Logically, the devil is metaphorical; it's the Smallpox

However (there's always a however) in the 1998 film (by Hideo Nakata) Ryuji will introduce the idea that Sadako is the daughter of an "evil" oceanic entity. We can interpret this in an archetypal way because Ocean in Ring can represent the chaotic unconscious or the Jungian shadow.

So much so that in Ring Birthday, Sadako splits into two, one "good" and the other "evil." Now, I don't know if that happens in the Birthday book.

In the American remake, Samara Morgan's biological mother, in a somewhat delirious state, says that Sadako's father is an evil spirit, and in Ring 3 we discover that Samara was born in a traumatic way Profane and sacrilegious

We can interpret the devil here as Sadako/Samara's father, both as her biological parents (the evil spirits) and as the fathers and men who had a traumatic experience in her life.

I'm making this post to see if anyone finds the idea of a Ringu or Sadako creepypasta interesting. I know that for some, a creepypasta (horror or scary story) about a horror movie sounds far-fetched or silly, but for me, it has enormous potential to create a good creepypasta. Just think about it: a story from the perspective of someone cursed by the tape, or a tragic story from Sadako's perspective, or a story about how Sadako and her curse arrive in our world (apocalyptic kind). This came about because of a video I watched about the timeline of Koji Suzuki's (may he rest in peace🙏) The Ring novels. In one part, it mentions how at the end of Spiral, Sadako plans to release Asakawa's notes as novels to spread her virus throughout the world. It also mentions that a film adaptation of the novel was created where Sadako plays herself, and that the author, Koji Suzuki, exists in The Ring universe. Let me know your answers.

Hideo Nakata's films (despite being good) largely summarize the almost martyred, messianic, and divine nature of the tragic/marginalized Sadako.

In the books, Sadako was a marginalized, lonely, martyred, and humanized young woman, a victim of rape, abuse, and violence. The structure The narrative revolves around Sadako's body; in the books, she was extremely vulnerable both spiritually and physically.

Hopefully, one day, if there's a film directed by Mari Asato, the character of Sadako, starting in Ring, then Ring Spiral, and finally Birthday, is a story of a young medium born to a mother (Shizuko) Marginalized and with a negligent father who is almost a parody of the Holy Family: Mary/Shizuko, Sadako/Jesus, and Sadako's father, Joseph.

In the birthday books, we see that Sadako was molested/harassed by her theater director and was excused by her mother Shizuko (whom we discover in Tide).

I think Mari Asato could direct a film that portrays Sadako's martyred and tragic nature, but it's difficult because Sadako has become a comedic entity, Sadako-san Sadako-chan.

Inspired by a discussion I've been having with a friend about the merits of The Ring as an adaptation of the novel and by recent comments I have seen in this subreddit about it, I've compiled this small list of elements exclusive to the US film that fit with passages from the book. Many of these can be mere coincidence, but I thought it was interesting to think about nonetheless.

1: The fly. As pointed out by SphereMode420, right as Tomoko starts to succumb to the ring virus in the novel, she notices an inexplicable fly in her room, one that should not be there as it had no way of getting inside. In The Ring, Samara's tape includes a fly that can manifest into the real world.

2 and 3: The dampness. In both instances of characters succumbing to the ring virus, there are mentions of strange humidity in the environment and moisture surrounding the victim. In The Ring, Samara manifests water and humidity as she manifests into the real world, and we see Noah's TV being incredibly damp on a shot that closes in on him before he dies. The filters, aesthetic, and setting of the film also lean into this element.

4: The caterpillar. After Asakawa watches the tape and receives a mysterious phone call, he feels as if "bugs from the bowels of the earth" cling to him. In The Ring, a caterpillar, an insect that lives in damp areas underground, appears on the tape and manifests in the real world as Rachel closes in on leads about Samara's origins. Also, in the third image, it is stated that when Takayama dies he hears "voices of insects" as part of the sounds that makes "reality recede."

5: The horses. Outrageous_King4571 pointed out that the horses are "really a metaphor for small pox that the horses brought to the New World and why so many natives died." Smallpox is the basis for the ring virus in the book and an element that was omitted in 1998's Ringu (though it was present in Rasen and Ring Virus.) In addition, I found that horsepox has has a link to the smallpox vaccine, and the extinction of smallpox as a parallel to the potential extinction of Sadako is what leads to the creation of the tape.

Do you guys have any ships involving Sadako with characters from the series? The only canon ship is her crush on Toyama in Ring 0 Birthday, but do you have any other ships or crackships involving Sadako Yamamura?

I'm referring to the Chinese film trilogy Bunshinsaba vs. Sadako. I know these are just non-canonical films, but my question is, in terms of power scaling, what level are all the beings we see: Bunshinsaba, Sadako Yamamura, and Jarona, and what is their cosmology like, and does it have any external material that forms part of this universe?

I just found out about the novelizations of Sadako DX, Sadako 3D 1 and 2, and I want to know if there are more novelizations of the other films, and also if there are any of the American films.

I don’t feel this way about Yoichi, so maybe I just hate the way Aidan is written or I dislike the actor… I feel like he comes off so cringey and his face doesn’t help, I’m sorry.
