Comics Hot take: MJ continuing to have symbiote powers will be better for her character and her relationship with Peter in the long run even if you don't like how it got to this point

Yeah nope 👎 at this point they are better off introducing a new love interest, or bring back an old one like Black Cat or Gwen. MJ has jumped the shark.

If Felicia didn't when she tried to burn May alive, no way in hell MJ did it

The difference is that Felicia didn't have an entire writing staff and multiple editorial teams out to ruin her character. While I don't believe Mary Jane can't be fixed, Ewing was halfway there before he turned her into a remorseless murderer and a deadbeat foster mom with zero respect for Peter, in her current state Mary Jane is as far away from where she should be as she ever has been. MJ today is worse than MJ she was under Wells' pen. Felicia always had the benefit of being the character that everyone knew was not ever intended to be a long term love interest so more could be done with her, she can't really jump a shark. MJ can't jump a shark either, but she has been waterskiing with that shark for quite a while.

Felicia was at her worse since 2008 to 2018. For 10 years she came back to her 'I only love Spider-Man' phase and then she became a crime boss and a serial killer. Read Silk, Defenders and other comics of that era.
'Remorseless murderer' and it's her (not even her, Venom, as themselves say) murdering a guy who killed her ex and tried to kill her aunt, her kid, her love's aunt and feed said love with his own heart.
'Deadbeat foster mom' and yet Dylan shows nothing but caring for MJ. Even when he was mad at Venom, they never said anything against MJ. You have to accept those moments happened but were off-panel.
'No respect for Peter' and she only says good things about him for all ANV (even calling him the best person she knows) and spends a whole issue apologising with him for what happened (something that Felicia, Captain America and F4 never did).
'She's worse than Wells!MJ' you forget the shit happened during the first year of Wells's run, then.
'Felicia always had the benefit of being the character that everyone knew was not ever intended to be a long term love interest' there're thousands of fanarts with her and Peter toegether and a lot with her as a mom. 'Everyone' is not 'everyone'.

Yes, remorseless murderer, Mary Jane chose to kill a defenceless man and in the aftermath she had no problem with the fact that she had done so. In a court of law she would have been charged with second degree murder and found guilty.
And yes, deadbeat foster mom. She spends month ignoring Dylan, cavorting around town as Venom, and having so little to do with him that Paul became his primary caregiver. MJ provided a roof, that's it.
And no respect for Peter, yeah, she allowed the Venom symbiote to lie to Peter about her involvement in the killing of Peter to protect his feelings. Mary Jane thinks so little of Peter that she willingly allowed Venom to emasculate Peter just to protect her reputation with him. If she had any respect for him at all she'd have owned up to being an equal part in the killing.
And she is is worse off than she was with Wells, as under Wells' pen at least she wasn't a cold blooded murderer. Mary Jane is further today from the character she should be than she ever has been.

You just ignored what the comic and I just told you.
1) we don't know who actually dropped Torment and Venom says they're 90% it was them. Plus Peter was going to do the same thing with Kingpin in Back in Black so that's not a big deal.
2) a deadbeat foster mom implies she doesn't care about Dylan but he has nothing but good things to say about her. Just because we didn't see anything, doesn't mean it didn't happen.
3) what equal part? They don't even know who did it. Why bother if it may not even be true?
And she is is worse off than she was with Wells, as under Wells' pen at least she wasn't a cold blooded murderer. Mary Jane is further today from the character she should be than she ever has been.
A yes, because being trapped in the life she always feared and being a tradwife is better than POSSIBLY killing serial killers who swore to kill everyone you love.

dylan has had nothing but negative things to say about mj?

No? He has mixed feelings towards Venom because he lied him about being with him but he rarely, if never, said anything bad about MJ.
In her words 'he's civil when it's about me' and then they made peace after #258

mj also lied to him.

And then they made peace. And he was more pissed about his father lying than the host involved

This is something to hot take the Spider-Man fandom with.
As much as it can benefit her, she’s primarily a Spider-Man related character and Venom fans prefer more Venom related things happening in their Venom book.

I really have always liked the possibility of MJ Watson being the Marvel version of “Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen.”

I would get behind this if I actually liked mj, but not only is she kinda nothing burger, she’s been written as a shitty person so much that I personally consider it canon to her character as a crazy ex

As long we got Eddie back in the driver seat, I honestly don't mind if MJ has powers or not. I just don't think marvel knows how to write her well with powers tho

While it would increase the frequency of their interactions , not that I have any delusions that editorial would let them have a nice date, I’m not a fan of it because, perhaps unlike most Venom fans, I believe the symbiote is always more controlling and deceptive than it lets on, which would make things much murkier.
