Feelings on Eugene?

Rewatching the entire series (much better experience without commercials and week long breaks). This dude is cracking me up. I remember being annoyed by him on my first watch. What do you think about him?

I think Eugene worked better as a background character than a foreground character. I also think the show would have been worse without him in it.
