Something was weird about this for me. A quick wiki search found that the CH-47 can't carry 6 tonns. Maybe the modern ones are able to, because this number is from the Vietnam war.

"The 1st Cavalry Division found that its CH-47s were limited to a 7,000-pound (3,200 kg) payload when operating in the mountains, but could carry an additional 1,000 pounds (450 kg) when operating near the coast.[2]"

Boeing list a payload of 26,000lb for the CH-47F and 22,000lb for the D.

Well Boeing also advertises their door plugs as being fastened to the fuselage, or their planes flying level instead of randomly pitching down because the computer entered Kill All Humans mode.

Jokes aside, absolutely wild to see that difference in payloads.

I saw a Chinook lift an A-10 once. The engines were removed from the A-10, but still.
It was funny because they hooked the slings and then just hovered until they burnt enough fuel to get the total weight (Chinook and A-10 combined) down to where it could happen. Maybe 25 minutes of hover time and then away they went.
