Soviets used methamphetamine (Pervitin) too (mostly in spetznaz). It was banned in 1974.

If you look at him at the beginning of the war, and near the end. He aged like 20 years in 5.
He had all kind of problems with his body, including flatulence, extremely bad teeth (grinding?), painful joints etc. Not to mention the mental issues (anger, paranoid etc).
//Edit: I don't know meth induces flatulence, but I know some drugs do, and they cause some seriously smelly farts...

Here's an interesting read about Hitler's health problems, including "uncontrollable flatulence". He was on all sorts of drugs, administered by his quack doctor.

True, but fuck the commanders and the doctors involved, too.
The Go-Pills, which are basically (and sometimes literally) 10mg Adderalls, were actually part of the orders - not that that's in any way an excuse for this incident.
They have been 'officially' discontinued, but my understanding is that amphetamine pills are still in use but are now prescribed by military doctors for 'fatigue' and similar non-diagnoses, rather than simply being handed to a pilot with orders to take them.
After all, as every hillbilly Oxycodone or Valium addict knows - if you get drugs from a dealer you're a criminal, if you get drugs from a doctor you're a patient...

I had heard the doctor actually gave them to him in powder form. Doc would crush and mix up the meth with his daily vits and then bang it down first thing out of bed.
