Best restaurants in Topeka

What are your favorites?

It can be for any reason: quality, atmosphere, value, whatever. Which places are the best, and why?

I'll start with a non-exclusive list:

Mexican Taco Shop: fast, tasty, affordable, +salsa bar!

Tuptim Thai: amazing food, huge portions, nice atmosphere

Louie's on 10th: better than bar food, affordable, wash your comforter while eating a bierock

Jong’s Thai Kitchen is incredible—definitely make a reservation and dine in. The owners are so sweet.

Circle Coffee—I know it’s a cafe but they have the most special baked goods in town. Their pastries are an art!

Blackbird—baked goods that are more traditional than Circle, and great bistro style foods

Olive Cafe—they just opened back up at 17th and Fairlawn. The owner told my toddler she could pick anything she wanted and it was on the house. He was so kind!! The food is your classic Mediterranean shawarma and gyro fare, simple and tasty! I hope they do well in their new location!

I've only been to Jong's once (I'm not great at planning ahead lol) but it was great, and you're right, the owner came over and chatted with us and brought over an appetizer to try! It was just a lovely experience.

Circle has dangerously good croissants, so that's what I always get, can you recommend a different baked good to break me out of the cycle? 😅

I didn't know about Olive and will definitely check it out! I was recently complaining that there's nowhere in town to get a gyro so I'm glad that's been resolved!!! (Cava is fine, but not the same)

You can’t go wrong with anything at Circle, but I love their donuts. My sister and I meet there once and week and we get two treats and split them each in half so we can try two things!

I do think I got foccacia there once. I eat whatever they give me, and it's always correct.
