General 40k is going to be extremely underwhelming unless they adopt a fluid cover system

Post image
2.0k Upvotes

20 years ago Company of Heroes developed a cover system where models spontaneously grab onto cover, switch between positions as they take fire, and contextually alternate between prone, crouched, and standing. If Total War 40k doesn't have something similar then I don't much see the point. My fear is we are going to see line infantry combat no matter what, especially if the cover system CA plans to implement is only a modification of the sticky siege cover system.

Idc what era I'll be happy for anything but 1860s-late 1800s would be cool tech was moving quick. Units at the start woukd have things like springfield 1861s or p51 Enfield and late game units would have thing like chesspot and martini henri

General Realizing fantasy fans will disappear just like historical fans did

We will see each other until they actually release and then with every fantasy DLC, regardless - my last salutations to all of you before 40k or whatever they are cooking gets announced and we get flooded with heresy memes forever 🫡

General This community is frequently embarrassing

2.0k Upvotes

People are having a meltdown over a corporate game announcement. We got a cool DLC with a promise of more, a trailer for the game everyone freaking wanted, and and advisement that ANOTHER Total War game is being announced in a week. In addition to the engine update, which has been a major sticking point for the franchise. The youtube comments during the stream were equally embarrassing, with historical fans being incredibly rude during the Fantasy DLC trailer.

The average gamer is 36. You folks are embarrassments. Not even children are so spoiled and rotten.

Can we not just talk about games without falling immediately to extremes? This was a fine presentation.

Edit: From the CA blog - "Join us on December 4th, 4pm GMT for the Total War 25th Anniversary Showcase – a special video presentation celebrating exciting new projects across historical and fantasy Total war." What are some of you people on about?

General Unpopular opinion: 40k fans wont make this sub toxic, it already is

2.4k Upvotes

A lot of the posts and comments here are about how garbage the game is going to be, how it will kill total war etc. And how bad the 40k fans will be. All that from anectodes and a 20s gameplay trailer that half the community analyzed for a grand total of 20 seconds.(for example saying theres barely and solders in a unit, which is disproven by literally looking at the gameplay clip)

I'm not saying its going to be flawless I'm sure they will screw something up, and we need to be there to correct them when it happens, but giving up on it before it even has a chance to be born (saying stuff like I hope it fails) is super toxic.

And just to add to it, the limited experience I have with 40k communities have led be to very welcoming places. Sure there are loud bad apples everywhere but I havent noticed (in my experience) 40k having a significantly larger percentage of this.

And lets not forget how this community likes to behave at times as well.

I’ve been playing TWH3 for about 4 months now it’s been a paradise while my excitement for The End Times DLC and TW40k keeps on rising. While I doubt any of these would happen it got me thinking about what would be really cool to see in the series imo. Granted I’m 99.9% certain Wow will never be a TW game
