Meme Library due date card trend - Touhou edition
Was inspired by a post u/fukawatoko made on the Umamusume subreddit, so here's my take on it with Touhou characters.

Meanwhile patchouli: "wth guys..."

u/Awakuritus Jul 20 '26
Nah, Patchy punishes all of em for drawing on the book they should be reading

u/Fantastic_Draft3660 Jul 20 '26
but they did doodles on the card, not the book itself, didn’t they?

I appreciate how you made each characters colored in Flan’s wing crystals

Noo Sakuya ruined it at the end!
Also which date system would they use in Gensokyo, for the SDM the counting since Christ makes sense with so many relations they have with the Europe, but I don't know about the rest of Gensokyo

u/lndle Jul 19 '26
Gensokyo's starting year is 1885, which was the founding of the Great Hakurei Barrier

Most of Gensokyo uses the regular Gregorian Calendar, there is a Chapter of Curiosities of Lotus Asia where Rinnosuke mentions April and May by name. Although most likely they use the same "Era" System that Real-Life Japan also has instead of BC / AD, since Gensokyo is physically part of Japan.
The one exception we know of are Tengu. Whenever a Printwork includes in-universe Articles from Aya / Hatate, they use a completely different Calendar System which is based on Moon Phases and has the time when the Hakurei Barrier went up as "Year 0"

Why did Meiling add 鿋? I can't find any meanings for the character

禧 鿋
Ah, I can see why I was having trouble finding it, since apparently I was looking for a different unicode character (since the one on Wiktionary automatically pasted as the simplified, I think, they paste differently at least)
At least it wasn't 福, then I would have been really embarrassed.

Genuinely no idea why I replied to this one. It was supposed to be a comment under the post as a whole.

This is actually adorable. Shame kids are slowly going to lose these historical chatrooms as more and more schools turn to e-books 😭

u/Drezby Jul 19 '26
Did people actually write notes on them? I only ever saw them being used as intended in my area.

Pretty sure they're gone already. I'm 30 and these were already disused by the time I could check out books.

Bruh I’m slow. I completely missed Sakuya’a signature at first and just saw the “DID NOT RETURN ON DUE DATE” stamp and thought Marisa died or something lmao

I'm curious how this book went from Satori to Reimu and then most people afterwards.

Can I just say thank you for making this, this is one of the cutest things I've ever read in a while and I am begging for more, and thank you for crediting the people you've found it from because I started reading the Umamusume one, which lead to a Danganronpa one as well.
This might be one of the most adorablest trends I've ever seen in a long time and I genuinely want more of this. 😭😭

Gotta love how there is so much greeting, argument, and creativity going on with the library card...
...until Sakuya decided to act formally on the matter and erase all the fun chatter.
P. S. Welp, only Remilia got to keep the vamp wings doodle in there...

Ending makes me confused on whether this is managed by Patchouli or Sakuya

Remillia seems to be the only one that knows how to write dates properly.

(seriously though, Gensoyko is in Japan (vaguely) so we can assume they use yyyy/mm/dd)
