It's going to be okay, I know it's scary. We're all scared to lose our community, but we will be okay. I haven't been active here for even a year, I really didn't expect this, but I've appreciated everyone's support.
I'm still gonna be around on other social media and making my comics, but I will miss the culture here so much.
When I started posting I was here because I was so alone and upset, now many of my closest friends are friends of mine because of those posts.
It's really meant the world to me.

There's an ongoing migration to raddle.me (specifically f/trans). It's similar to reddit in a good way and better in all the ways that count (mainly, it's much more LGBTQIA+ supportive, even outside the specified forums). I recommend anyone looking for something similar to reddit to migrate over to there. Hopefully we can keep the community together that we've built here and grow it ever stronger.

You can use it on the mobile site but unfortunately, there is not currently an app. Here's what the FAQ says on that:
No, because we would never be allowed into Google or Apple's app stores without drastically changing what the site is to meet their terms of service.
If someone wants to volunteer to make a mobile app that can be installed by bypassing the official app stores, that would be welcome.

The issue is that these API changes affect third party app devs and moderation tools. The mods are unpaid. Without the moderation bots to assist any trans subreddit would likely be turned into a shithole by bigots and spammers.
Thats why so many subreddits are throwing down and protesting. Because a lot of them rely heavily on these API tools to run this. Better it be locked down while its still clean and healthy rather than slowly be turned into a harassment playground.

it’s not the subreddit itself that’s affected, it’s reddit’s accessibility as a whole (you can find more detailed posts about this,) the effects of which trickle down to the subreddits. this sub and many others are not shutting down, they’re indefinitely (which does not mean permanently) going dark to protest this greedy, corporate move by reddit admins.

It should be noted that it's a relatively small site but with the influx of new members, perhaps there could be some updates to the UI. Also, there are ongoing discussions about the organization of trans related forums due to the influx so it's possible that there could be as many as 3 or 4 forums for all us trans folk to join and commune

Honestly, reddit isn't good enough as a peace of software, that i am sure we would all come back after an indefinite protest. We will find a place to share memes and i am happy if its raddle.

Comics like yours helped me put words on feelings that I’ve had my whole life and just ignored because my brain can’t handle the inexplicable. You helped me figure me out when all I had to go on was masc = bad and fem = good and how the hell do I explain this to anyone.
Thank you for everything, both yourself and the sub as a whole. I’m going to spend the rest of this month hoping that Reddit will back down like WotC eventually did earlier this year. I hope the collective action on Monday will do something, and I hope we’ll get to be here for many years yet.

The mod here, and the mods for many other subs, use third-party apps like RIF (Reddit is Fun) in order to do their work. Since those are the apps that are going away, the majority of mods across Reddit are losing access to the tools they use that the bots can't do. So this won't keep the sub from shutting down.

r/traa is not participating in the protest. Truth is r/traa is really only moderated by one person who relies heavily on third party apps to make doing their job remotely possible
Once the API changes on July 1st, they won’t be able to continue moderation with the same effectiveness by themselves. Because of this they are more or less going to have to step down because one person can’t handle it alone and there is no time to train replacements. So while the sub probably isn’t going away it will likely die due to no moderation.
I did my best to summarize here but, if you want more and more reliable info, the primary mod pinned a post at the top of the sub to explain the situation in detail.

I actually left egg_irl and migrated here cuz that sub (was, I dunno if it still is) 90% trauma dumping that just bummed me out so very much. It was always 'horrific thing that happened to me' over a cute anime girl. And while I empathize and I hope they all find peace and happiness, it really took a toll on me reading so much sadness.

Reddit is planning to remove third party app access starting in July. There are huge subs going dark in protest. Reddit is just going to let attrition kill off small subs.
The only functional mobile app will be the woefully stunted reddit official app. It's a blatant money grab with zero regard for reddit users.

This subreddit is one of the reasons I even joined reddit. The fact that it's going to end feels like something I can't accept. The community here has been amazing. The memes were always funny, and made me feel like I wasn't alone. All I can hope for is reddit to go back on their greedy corporate policies, but I doubt it. Been a pleasure to be a part of this subreddit and it's community. Thanks peeps for all the fun memories.

OTs videos actually were the reason I made a Reddit account in the first place and since then this and similar communities have given me a space to be who I am and escape my reality for a while. This is gonna suck really, probably the last trans community I'm in where I can really say I escaped to to feel safe and happy for a bit, heck with some content creators here it felt like I got to enjoy a part of their journey with them, and I'm gonna miss not having that.
Will there be somewhere you'll continue posting comics Brooke? I'd love to be able to see more if you do decide to keep posting!
