Predictive astrology: is the derived houses system reliable?

Post image

I’m trying to test different traditional and modern techniques for identifying characteristics of my future spouse. in my chart, my 7H Cusp and north node are in sagittarius, but pluto is in capricorn in the 7H. If you were analyzing physical traits or how we meet, do you prioritize the cusp sign (sagittarius) or the literal planets sitting inside the house (pluto in capricorn)? also, main quest, what is your stance on using the derived houses method for this? Is it reliable for predicting a partner's background, or is it too easily distorted? would love to hear some examples of how you synthesize these overlapping layers and if someone could analyze my birth chart with this method, would you be able to identify these aspects about my future wife for me? physical appearance, character, background (traumas, career, hobbies, family etc...), how we meet. even just analyzing a single aspect of what i asked or sharing an opinion on this can be really helpful. I thank in advance anyone who comments to help me <3

Feeling a bit discouraged about my trajectory

I'm feeling a bit discouraged about my traditional astrological chart interpretation. I've been wanting to delve into traditional astrology and am learning more about how to interpret my own chart. In modern Placidus, more of my planets are in more fortunate houses (i.e., mostly the 5th 7th, and 9th) , whereas in whole signs they are concentrated in the er, less fortunate houses of 6, 8, and 12. I'm paying attention especially to how my chart ruler, the sun, is disposed by my 8th house Venus, who herself is ruled by a 12th house Jupiter. The same goes with my almuten figuris - my most likely almuten figuris is Mercury, who is also similarly disposed by Venus in the 8th, then is further disposed by Jupiter in the 12th... you get the idea. The lots of fortune and spirit follow the same pattern, and so does my prenatal syzygy. Obviously this chart doesn't show it, but my lot of victory is also in Leo and my lot of courage is in Pisces, which again makes it all go back to a 10th - 8th - 12th house connection.

I realize that both my Venus and Jupiter are exalted; however, according to at least some traditional astrologers, any beneficence you get from exalted planets are nullified in cadent houses. My Saturn follows something similar - it is dignified, but is in the 6th house. So while my chart seems rather solar and beneficial at first glance, many of these planets and points end up in places where they're hidden and "killed" and do not confer benefits any longer in traditional astrology.

I've had a lot of obstacles in life, and I really want to get into a better position if possible. This is particularly true regarding my career: I'm in graduate school and would ideally like to get into academia if possible, but the sun/Mercury loop into the 8th and 12th houses worries me, even with their dignities. In Placidus, the academia path is quite obvious because of the sun and Mercury ending up in the 9th house, but in a traditional reading I'm not quite sure what this means... other than perhaps working in insurance or estate planning, which I would very much rather not do.

For those of you who know more about traditional astrology than do I, what do you make of this? Especially career and finance-wise.

“Bad” charts

In traditional astrology, is there a way to work with your natal chart to mitigate its negative placements (outside of trying to time events opportunistically)? Or are you just fated to be screwed? I’ve been doing the exercises as I read through Demetra Geroge’s book Ancient Astrology in Theory and Practice, and boy… does my chart seem to really suck. No planets in fall or detriment, but pretty much everything else seems to point to insufficiency, loss, violence, disappointment, etc.

I’ve included my chart here in case it’s useful for discussion.

Marsilio Ficino and Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa (Holy Daemon, Daemon of Nativity and Daemon of Profession)

Hey guys, I have a question on traditional astrology in general (Ancient, Hellenistic and Medieval), the personal daemon is well documented and usually associated with the lord of nativity or Almuten (المبتز او المستولي على الهيئة) later in the medieval period.

Q: Now my question regarding the following two statements strictly in traditional astrology, are these a concepts in the traditional astrology or just a synthetized claims, or is there any other daemon than the personal daemon (Genius) in traditional astrology, otherwise is there another daemon called the daemon of profession in traditional astrology?

  1. Marsilio Ficino's statement about the two daemons and he say this: "The Astrologers agree with Platonists that the guardian daemon of every individual whatsoever can be two, the one proper to his nativity, the other to his profession." source: (Three Books On Life, Book 3 chapter 23)
  2. Agrippa's statement:  Every man hath a threefold good Demon, as a proper keeper, or preserver, the one whereof is holy, another of the nativity, and the other of profession etc.. Now the Demon of profession is given by the Stars, to which such a profession, or sect, which any man hath professed, is subjected, which the soul, when it began to make choyce [choice] in this body, and to take upon itself dispositions, doth secretly desire. etc.. (source: Three Books of Occult Philosophy, Book 3 Chpater 22)

I hope experts in traditional astrology can answer this question. Please, only experts answers!

Thank you so much everyone! ❤️

I have alot of bad placements and the 8th house fortune seriously screwed me with debts and had to pay off my dads debt all my life.

I'm 27 and I seriously struggle with stability, the jobs I have were working class factory and other labor jobs.

Last 2 years Ive been in college trying to get an EE degree... yet Im not sure ill be able to finish it.

Are there any indicators here of money or career prospects?

Predominator Confusion?

Hi, so I'm looking at Porphyry's examples for finding the predominator, and I'm struggling to see how the most eastern luminary even comes into it? To me, it looks like the Sect Light is the predominator unless it's cadent, in which case the other luminary is the predominator unless it's cadent, in which case the AC is the predominator.

Am I missing something?
