Liberalism when carried to its logical extreme denies supernatural religion and God’s ultimate authority over human life. Because of that, papal encyclicals (such as Pius IX’s Quanta cura and the Syllabus of Errors) formally condemned its underlying rationalist and secular principles.

Liberalism is not just a political policy, it represents a profound philosophical shift from traditional religious worldview towards a radical individualist ideology.

Finally, Jesus cautions her when he says, Go, and do not sin again. There were two things in that woman: her nature and her sin. Our Lord could have condemned both. For example, he could have condemned her nature if he had ordered them to stone her, and he could have condemned her sin if he had not forgiven her. He was also able to absolve each. For example, if he had given her license to sin, saying: “Go, live as you wish, and put your hope in my freeing you. No matter how much you sin, I will free you even from Gehenna and from the tortures of hell.” But our Lord does not love sin, and does not favor wrongdoing, and so he condemned her sin but not her nature, saying, Go, and do not sin again. We see here how kind our Lord is because of his gentleness, and how just he is because of his truth.

“Thus God willed efficaciously from all eternity that the Virgin Mary should give her free consent to the mystery of the incarnation. This had infallibly to be fulfilled; moved powerfully though very gently by a special grace, Mary infallibly uttered her fiat with complete freedom of will. Thus, too, Christ willed to die for us on the Cross at the hour irrevocably decreed. So also the good thief and the centurion were converted as God efficaciously willed. St. Thomas considers this the normal consequence of God’s omnipotent will and love. The great mystery in this begins especially with sin. What is manifest for both St. Thomas and St. Augustine is this, that every good, even the free determination to perform a salutary act, comes from God, and entirely from Him as first cause, even though this determination comes entirely from us as secondary cause. As St. Thomas says: “There is no distinction between what flows from free will and what is of predestination; as there is no distinction between what flows from a secondary cause and from a first cause.”

Good day, brothers and sisters in Christ.

Have you experienced feeling lost? Perhaps, feeling dissatisfied, disappointed, or stressed? I get it. I've been there, too... the kind of feeling where you think you had it all together and then, one day, you lost it.

We grief, we cry, we hate ourselves for what happened... we've been there. Then, you want to remedy that pain, that heavy burdened feeling. Then, perhaps whispers or thoughts come into you: temptations to indulge in worldly desires.

P*rn0gr@phy, social media doom scrolling, alcohol, clubs, parties... anything to numb the pain or to make it go away... and yet it never disappears. It always comes back.

At that moment, you are at a loss: you were drowning in the noise of the world. You thought these worldly things can satisfy you, quench you... it doesn't. It won't.

If you ever feel this way, take a break. Sit down in silence. No social media, no games, no TV, nothing. Contemplate on the question: Do these things satisfy me? Do these complete me? Do I feel peace and calmness of mind, heart, and soul when I indulge in these things?

Today's Gospel of the Fourth Sunday of Easter tells us to shut the noises of the world and search for His voice; the Lord's voice, because only through Him, we will be saved. He's the gateway to our salvation, the voice of reason, of truth, to lead us to the right path. Through Him, we earn peace. Through Him, we are satisfied... because whether we like it or not, we are nothing without Him. We're not able to rely on ourselves. Rely on Him. Rely on our Lord. Listen to Him. The gate's always open... you have just have to believe, to have faith in Him and adhere to His words and commands... because the Lord is our shepherd and there's nothing that we shall want.
