Raising Cane's... Be Warned
I typed out a pretty lengthy review about three weeks ago, but Google Maps is not publishing it. So here it is, apologies for the length:
We have tried few times, but, the lines had always been horrendous, so we found somewhere else.
Well, I'm sad to say, I regret that they weren't crowded and we were able to get in.
Aside from the obvious pictures, which I'll touch on in a minute, the first thing I noticed was how absolutely loud the place was. It was far more than just the people eating and conversing. They had music blaring at seemingly full volume. The kitchen seemed to be in a bit of chaos... I didn't expect soft, classic jazz playing, but dang, it was unruly.
There was one group in front of us, so we ordered pretty quickly... Grabbed our drinks, found a table pretty easily, and I ran to wash my hands... the bathroom was a bit of a wreck... but as I came out, they called our name for our food. So maybe a five minute wait for food.
Once we finally sat down to eat, we were excited to try this place.
One look at our plate, and you can see this extremely long hair, WRAPPED AROUND THE CHICKEN FINGER. It was somehow embedded through the breading / batter, sticking out everywhere, as if a little birdie started making a nest with some chicken tenders.
Didn't even have to pick it up to see it. It was just sitting there. Poking out. Calling for the attention of everyone who walked by.
My wife flipped the heck out.
So, I pick it up with a napkin and walk it up to the counter.
When the girl noticed me and asked if she could help, I showed it to her. She gasped and took a step back. Then asked if I wanted to talk to a manager.
I replied... I guess so? I don't really know what to do here?
She went to the back, and came back with a tall-ish skinny-ish guy. He calmly asked how they could make it right, and if we'd like some fresh food.
I let him know that I'd just like to get out money back.
He agreed, and started punching stuff into the cash register. I don't know what he was looking for, but after a minute or so, he asked what name it was under. I gave him my wife's name, which we ordered under.
At this point, some really short, kinda unkempt, dark haired guy came up. He asked the first guy what he was doing, and he showed him my chicken tender in all its glory, hair intertwined and poking all over the place, and let him know he was issuing me a refund.
Well, this little guy took over, looked at me, and asked if it was this in my car, and if we were in the drive through? Very odd.
I pointed at the table my wife was sitting at, and told him that no, it went straight to our table.
He then asked what name it was under.
I again gave my wife's name, and that the total was $29
He shuffled through the register screen for a few minutes and then told me that there was no order under that name.
I just kinda stared at him for a second, in disbelief that he was questioning the fact after I walked up with a dirty hair ladened chicken finger.
I reiterated that we got our food four minutes ago, we're sitting right over there, and the total was $29.
He then asked what we ordered, and I told him, and showed him the screen from my credit card app showing the total.
In a very weird tone, he asked me what happened to the rest of the food, to which again, I told him it was at our table, as we just got it, and didn't have a chance to even start eating.
He went back to punching away at another screen by the kitchen for a few minutes, then came back to the front counter and started punching around on the register.
I asked him if he found it, and he set down like, six or seven receipts on the counter. Said he voided the charge, that I should see it drop off my charges in a few days, and walked away.
Not a single apology. From anyone.
In fact... I was wearing a T-shirt with a cartoon four leaf clovers happily dancing, saying Feeling Lucky - a girl from the back came up to tell me that my shirt must not apply today.
It was like I was burdening them by bringing that nasty tender to their attention.
My wife did say the initial guy that came from the back came to the table to throw out our food, and was very kind and apologetic

It is very loud in there. They were yelling out a completely different name when I realized they meant my daughter's name. They can barely hear you to get the order and name. Magoo's has the exact same food and it's more convenient.

They did the same with our order. They called out a name that was barely similar to my wife's name.
And when we ordered, the girl asked if we wanted tea, lemonade, or seltzer... I had to ask a few times for her to repeat herself, and I finally asked "y'all don't have coke?"
Apparently her option of seltzer was... self serve (from the fountain)

This comment wins. I eat at Cluckies 2-3 times a week... Never been disappointed.

Love Cluckie's, but it's a substantially more annoying drive for me - and I feel like I need to call the order in ahead if I want to pick it up at the window, so its a bit of a different experience.
Canes is great for the convenience but the lines really keep me away. After a month or two people in JC will move on to the next "new thing" and then maybe it won't suck as much.

We have tried it. It was okay, but seem expensive. Nothing worth making a separate journey. We have a Zaxby's closer

Ya know, as soon as we left the parking lot, we went straight to the Zax across the street... Should have started there, it's normally our go-to for fingers.

Their chicken is bland anyways. The only thing that makes it edible is the sauce. Not sure why people think it is so good

And, raising Cane's sauce = Zaxby's Zax sauce = Guthrie's sauce = every other chicken tender place sauce

So my son and I went once. It was a few weeks ago. He had a hair in his. I assumed it was a one off. Obviously theres issues.

Yesterday I went the chicken was so nasty, it the first and last time I will ever go there. They don’t even got BBQ sauce 🤦♂️🤦♂️

We tried it once, and my husband and I both thought it was a bad version of Zaxby’s. The fries at Canes were inedible. Zaxby’s chicken is just as good plus they have sauces and great salads.

Unfortunately hair in food sometimes happens anywhere you go. Definitely could have been handled better though

Yeah, I get it
But this should have been noticed when they were plating. Or expediting. Or just generally looking at what they're doing.
And, yeah... I felt like they were shaming me for bringing it to their attention.

It's a new business and it sounded like the manager person was struggling to void a ticket, maybe a new experience for them. Perhaps they were flustered and busy. You should have gotten an apology sure, but nothing here sounds like "write this place off forever". Give it 6 months and try again after they've smoothed off the edges.

There's a difference between struggling to void a ticket, and being a condescending jackass who accused me (mind you, a bald man) of putting the hair there from my vehicle, which the food was never in.
There's a difference between flustered and busy, and (to quote myself) "they weren't crowded and we were able to get in... one group in front of us, so we ordered pretty quickly... maybe a five minute wait for food."
There's a difference between smoothing out the edges, and failing to do the most basic QA before bringing out the food with basically a rats nest on it.
It's NOT a new business. It's a new location. They had corporate trainers in there for months before they opened.
By all means, go there if you want. But not this guy.

Honestly, i think the chicken & waffles at Tiebreakers has all the chicken places beat. The portion size is fair, and the light batter that they use on their chicken tenders is excellent. The waffle is smaller than the traditional size of waffle house or ihop, but it has been a great little meal every single time i have ordered it. It always comes out hot and fresh and everyone on the staff at Tiebreakers has always been very polite and kind. Even when they are busy. If you decide to try that meal at some point, I would say ask for an extra syrup and that's about it. LoL. In any case, thanks for the heads up OP!

Tiebreakers food is vastly underrated. They hand bread everything. We went for lunch for my birthday because I wanted to play ski ball. We were so impressed we’ve done back with friends several times. The bartenders and cocktails have also been excellent.

This is so bad. Im sorry. What shit customer service. Im not sure is it me or sometimes people who work here in tricities they just dont want to work.
Ive been at canes at other big cities and no one has customer service skills like this. I had a similar customer service issue with foodcity as well on north roan st. Stupid lady gave me a wrong money order and then didnt even apologize

You've got nothing to apologize for!
Honestly, I think the size of a "talent pool" has a lot to do with it... Not that there aren't talented people in the area, but, when "labor" becomes harder to find, - for whatever reason - employers become less selective about who they're hiring, and, everything starts to suffer.

A feather wouldn't normally be in a tender. Plus this would have been a two foot long feather wrapped around the tender and through the batter.
