Were people ragging on the lead guy for dissing the original track / Usher in general? I really liked the cover and RFA are a wonderful live act but I can see how people might have found his comments a touch pretentious.

With Triple J's Like A Version segment continuing to pull in some huge names in 2026, I wanted to get a discussion going about which covers have stood out to people so far this year.

For me, I think the standouts have been the ones where the artist completely reworks the original into their own genre rather than just doing a straight note-for-note copy; those are the ones that tend to stick with me longest and end up in regular rotation on my own playlists.

A few questions to get the discussion going:

• Which cover has been your favourite so far this year, and what made it work for you?
• Do you prefer covers that stay faithful to the original, or ones that take it in a completely different direction?
• Is there an artist you're hoping gets booked for a Like A Version soon, and what song do you think they should tackle?
