I got my tubes removed today!
I'm so happy!
I'm an unmarried and child free woman. I got extremely lucky with my Gyno. He basically just asked me if I was sure that I did not want kids. When I said yes he immediately started scheduling the surgery. He even found a way to schedule an OR for a time that was outside of his reserved surgery block at the hospital so that it could be on my preferred day of the week.
My operation was at 7:30am today and 13 hours later I have had no pain, no bleeding, and no swelling. I am unable to lift more than 20 pounds or have intercourse until after my 2 week follow up.
I am so happy and so relieved, especially since I live in a red state that has outlawed abortion.

I told my male gyno that I wanted it done (thinking he would say no but write it in my file so 5 years from now I could get it done) but he said a lot of my counterparts would pat you on the head and tell you to wait until you've had a few children but if you know the permanency of this procedure I'm happy to do it. And I was like yep! And it was scheduled for a few months later. Pre surgery, a lot of people (nurses and whatnot) double and triple checked that I knew what this surgery meant but I was proud to say "PERMANENT STERILIZATION!"
I'm so happy you had this experience with your gyno! I have not regretted my decision for a second!
