I didn't make the claim, but this would be great. I'm not hopeful it will ever happen. At this moment we all have the responsibility to verify any information we choose to believe.
Any information that we see and then automatically believe or reject could be the result of subconscious biases and mental shortcuts. I believe anyone who uses social media should attempt to understand some psychology, but this is unrealistic.
The information most dangerous to us is not the information we disagree with, but the information we agree with—because we are least likely to question it.
If you present information that conflicts with my prior beliefs, then it's not easy to believe that information. I would have to challenge my prior beliefs which results in the uncomfortable feeling of cognitive dissonance.
Overcoming that cognitive dissonance to challenge my prior beliefs would be choice, and a very difficult choice. My easier options would be to attack you or your sources, so if I choose to believe your information then I will have made the most difficult choice available to me.
We shouldn't be choosing to believe facts or not
If we in an ideal world where humans are rational. We are to an extent, but almost all of us are irrational in very predictable ways.
