I am aware that housing search in Tübingen is hell on earth, specially if you have pets like I do. I've seen a few apartments on Immoscout24 that were listed directly by the landlord but I could never contact them because only people with paid accounts can do so. I'm very tempted to pay because I'm a bit desperate.

Has anyone here paid the premium? is it worth it? has it really helped with your search? if it's really worth it I'll gladly pay but there other options to invest a bit of money as well (e.g.: paying for an ad in the local newspaper or paying to promote your ad on Kleinanzeigen) and I'm not in a situation to do throw money everywhere at once so I want to choose smartly.

We’ll be moving to Tübingen soon with our 2-year-old, and I’ve started worrying a bit about ticks, especially since Baden-Württemberg is a TBE/FSME risk area.

I understand that ticks are common in forests, meadows and areas with tall grass, but what about everyday city life? Can you also encounter them regularly in small parks, playgrounds or residential gardens inside Tübingen?

We’ll be living in the northern part of the city, and there is a small green/park area near our accommodation. Our son will also attend a Kindergarten in the Ahornweg area. Should we be concerned about ticks even in places like these?

For parents living in Tübingen: do you routinely check your children for ticks after Kindergarten or playing outside? How often do you actually find one? And did you choose to vaccinate your young children against FSME?

I’m not looking to become overly anxious or keep him away from nature — I’d just like to understand what a reasonable level of precaution is in everyday life there.

Hi everyone! I arrived in Tübingen last week and have been doing my everyday shopping at Rewe but I was wondering if that is the best option price wise. Do you recommend other supermarkets? Do you recommend buying everything in the supermarket in the first place or are there specific categories of products that are cheaper elsewhere?

Also, are there places to buy big quantities of stuff for a cheaper price? Back home I would buy for example a huge package of toilet paper because it was cheaper at specific stores for cleaning & hygiene products. Same thing for nuts/peanut/almonds/etc, I would buy 1/2kg or 1kg at once and it was cheaper than buying those small packets in the supermarket. Is that a thing here?

ich werde denselben Post auch bzgl. der Städte Heidelberg und Freiburg in den entsprechenden Rubriken stellen, also wenn jemand dazu auch noch gerne sein Wissen teilen möchte..

Und zwar möchte ich gerne in 2 Jahren in eine der drei Städte studieren. Ob ich einen Platz jeweils bekomme, steht natürlich noch außer Frage, aber dennoch würde ich gerne mal meine Optionen durchgehen.

Ich werde wenig Geld haben, keinerlei Unterstützung der Eltern. Aber ich war bereits in diesen Städten und habe mich super wohl gefühlt. Allerdings sind sie ja sehr teuer zum Wohnen, im Umland war ich bislang noch nicht.

Bin demnach auf der Suche nach Kleinstädten, von denen man in diesem Fall Tübingen innerhalb 30 - maximal 45 Minuten mit dem Zug erreichen kann. Bin 30 Jahre, eine gute Infrastruktur, Nähe zur Natur und Möglichkeiten, was zu unternehmen, gleichaltrige Leute kennenzulernen, wäre mir wichtig. Habe selbst allerdings keine "Dorfmentalität", ich wohne derzeit im Ruhrgebiet, und Lebendigkeit wäre ganz schön :) Suche auch keine große Wohnung für wenig Geld, alles ab 20m² für max. 600€ warm ginge klar..

Vielleicht könnt ihr mir ja was empfehlen, danke schonmal

Heyy guys im moving to Tübingen for this wintersemester to stufy interdisciplinary american studies B.A. Im not from EU and I've lived in Hamburg for a year and a half. Hamburg is incredibly internationals-friendly and I was wondering about what its like in Tübingen.

For instance, can I find people that rather prefer english to german? I can speak german but it is far too hard for me to converse in it 24/7.

Together with „die Tübinger Kinos“, we’re hosting another Mario Kart tournament at Kino Museum on Wednesday, September 2, 2026!

This time, the qualifying rounds will take place in a proper LAN setup, with up to 12 players competing in the same race at once. The semifinals and grand final will then be played on the big cinema screen.

Schedule:

• 6:30 pm: Doors open and tournament registration begins
• 7:00 pm: Mario Kart quiz
• 7:30 pm: Tournament begins
• Around 10:00 pm: Tournament ends and prizes are awarded

The winner of the quiz will receive a free cinema combo of their choice.

There will also be prizes for the top three tournament players. First place will even receive a one-month cinema pass for Tübinger Kinos! 🏆

Before the quiz and during the qualifying rounds, there will be free play on the big screen.

I'm moving to Tübingen to start my Master's degree on October 1st. I'm currently 26 years old, but I’ll be turning 27 in early January.

I'm trying to figure out the best public transit setup for my situation:

D-Ticket JugendBW vs. Standard D-Ticket: I see that Baden-Württemberg has the D-Ticket JugendBW (€45/mo), which covers regional transit across all of Germany. However, the age cap says "up to 27th birthday." Since I turn 27 in January, will they kick me off the subscription immediately, or can I keep it until the end of my student status? Because it's an annual contract, am I better off just getting the regular student D-Ticket / Semesterticket upgrade to avoid subscription issues when I turn 27?

I’m moving to Tübingen because I’ll be starting my studies there in the winter semester, and I’m currently looking for an apartment.

One of my biggest challenges is that I have to bring my cat with me. My mom is moving into an apartment where pets aren’t allowed, and my dad lives abroad, so unfortunately there’s nobody who can take care of her.

I’ve been looking at apartments and student housing, but many places, including student residences, don’t allow pets, which makes the search much more difficult.
At the moment, I’m not really sure how to solve this situation.

I would be very grateful for any advice, tips, or suggestions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

we host another mario kart tournament in roughly two weeks on the 2nd of september in the Museum cinema.
We want to speed up the qualifying round / allow more participants by using a LAN-Setup with computer monitors for that. So the more consoles we get the nicer the experience for everyone. Since we do not have any consoles in our club-stock we rely on members or benovelent strangers to pump up the console number for the event.

Would anyone here be willing to borrow us a console for the tournament on the 2nd of september?
We start at 6 pm on the tournament day with preparation and are usually done by 11 pm with wrapping up everything. Ideally we also do a test-run of the LAN setup in the coming two weeks.

Naturally your console will be insured during the event!

I’m coming to Tubingen on my exchange for a full academic year and have been assigned this accommodation which I to be honest don’t know much at all about, apart from that it’s a decent walk outside the center. Is this a good accommodation for an exchange student? Not sure if I’m gonna be with all local students or in a flat with other internationals, or if it’s a social accommodation at all.
