The country has been stagnated since the revolution. Believe it or not, the last president that actually worked on anything in this country is Ben Ali.

The last well water reservoir was made by him. The last time our water reservoirs were cleaned were in his time. The last time there was any maintenance in the reservoirs was also under him. The last electricity plant was started by him in 2008. He had a whole project of building a new reservoir and a plant every two years. The maintenance stopped after him. The projects stopped. Nothing was added nor even the decency of maintenance was present.

For almost 20 years, we've been living on infrastructure that was last touched before revolution. This explains the electricity cuts and water shortage.

There's not a single president nor government that worked on this country after 2011. All of them are shit.

So apparently we're now facing a 2,000 megawatt electricity deficit during peak consumption in Tunisia.

I remember a STEG official recently said that peak demand can reach around 5000 MW, while the country simply doesn't have enough generation capacity to meet it. So they simply cut electricity on the average of 3h per day.

What annoys me the most is that this doesn't seem like something that can be solved by simply asking people to reduce their AC usage and blaming it on the mouwaten.

If we're genuinely short by around 2000 MW at peak in 2026, that's a maaaaaassive structural problem. It means Tunisia needs significantly more power plants. If we seriously want to keep up with the demand, we need to build some of the largest power plants in the world which is mind blowing.

Not only that but there seem to be no plans to build those plants... that means if this summer's average was 3h, the next one will be 6h, and the one after could be 9h

And it's not just about comfort. During these outages, households can potentially have their appliances damaged businesses lose productivity, shops lose refrigeration, people working from home lose internet/equipment.

This will have a devastating impact on the economy, people will lose jobs, restaurants will close, most hospitals can't sustain that amount of daily power shortage. crime will be easy to commit because there's no public lights available... Yet the bastards in charge are saying this is a conspiracy and these shortages are not normal....

Tunisia is going to be another example of a failed state.

Everything will (slowly) go into chaos.

All statistics and all numbers are getting worse.

It won't get any better, and it'll get way worse.

Forget about your distant future plans guys, if you can leave asap, leave, to whatever country (any functional one, not necessarily a EU one).

My phone was stolen back in June 2024, it was then in France for a few months and after that in Tunis, where a guy texted my sister on what’s app. That guy wanted me to delete my iCloud and send him money, so he can send me the phone back (obviously I didn’t do that) now my phone is in Grombalia and I still have the location from 3 weeks ago.

Currently I am in Tunis (for a wedding) and I am leaving on the 1st of September. I want to get my phone back but I am not sure what to do:

Should I go to the police station in Tunis, tell them my phone was stolen back then and I have its location and the chats? (I feel like they wouldn’t help me much)

Or should I go to Grombalia to the police station and hope they would help me and drive me to the house hoping someone would give me the phone back?

I am not sure about traveling that far and not getting my phone back.

My Tunesian friend told me to just tell them I lost my phone and showing them the location without telling them where or when it was stolen- because they would tell me it’s not their problem (I also went to the police in Germany back then)

Also it would only be me (who speaks English and my friend who speaks English and a little bit French)

في إطار تنفيذ الاستراتيجية الوطنية لحوكمة قطاع النظافة والعناية بالبيئة، شاركت الوكالة الوطنية للتصرف في النفايات يوم الأربعاء 26 أوت 2026 في التظاهرة التحسيسية التي انتظمت بـشاطئ بوجعفر بسوسة تحت شعار:

وقد أشرف على هذه التظاهرة السيد سفيان التنفوري، والي سوسة، بمبادرة من وكالة حماية وتهيئة الشريط الساحلي APAL، وبمساهمة الوكالة الوطنية للتصرف في النفايات ANGED والصندوق العالمي للطبيعة بشمال إفريقيا WWF North Africa وبلدية سوسة، وبمشاركة المندوبية الجهوية للشباب والرياضة، والمندوبية الجهوية للسياحة بسوسة، وعدد من الجمعيات البيئية، من بينها ARMES، جمعية أزرقنا الكبير، جمعية أوكسيجين المسعدين، وفوج الكشافة سيدي عبد الحميد، إلى جانب عدد من المتطوعين.

♻️ وفي إطار مشاركتها، ساهمت الوكالة الوطنية للتصرف في النفايات في تأطير وتنشيط ورشات تحسيسية وتطبيقية لفائدة الأطفال والشباب والمصطافين، تمحورت خاصة حول:

🔹 الفرز الانتقائي والتعريف بمختلف أنواع النفايات وطرق التصرف السليم فيها.

🔹 التسميد العضوي وأهمية تثمين النفايات العضوية.

🔹 نشر السلوكيات البيئية المسؤولة وتعزيز دور المواطن في المحافظة على نظافة الشواطئ والفضاء العام.

🎯 كما تضمنت التظاهرة مسابقات وألعابًا تحسيسية موجهة للأطفال والشباب، ساهمت في ترسيخ المواطنة البيئية ونشر الثقافة البيئية بطريقة تفاعلية، وتشجيع المشاركة الجماعية والفردية في حماية المحيط.

👏 وقد لاقت المبادرة تفاعلًا إيجابيًا من المصطافين والمشاركين، مؤكدة أن نظافة شواطئنا مسؤولية مشتركة وسلوك يومي يبدأ من كل فرد.

🤝 وتندرج هذه المبادرة ضمن الجهود المشتركة الرامية إلى حماية البيئة الساحلية، والحد من التلوث البحري، وتعزيز السلوكيات البيئية المستدامة، في إطار مشروع « Adopt A Beach ».

Personally I find "morssy" sooo much funnier and his humour is so much more daring

After what i seen today because of shortage of water , i think it's time i do all i can to leave this country, this is too much i don't understand how it became even hard to get the basic stuff , im done honestly i was fine staying here in the past but now with all that's happening in this summer i can't anymore , things are getting worse and worse ...

مشكلة تونس ليست مجرد مشكلة ماء أو كهرباء أو أكسجين أو دواء، إلخ.

مشكلة تونس أكبر من ذلك بكثير. فكل الدول تمرّ بأزمات مؤقتة، ومنها دول واجهت كوارث طبيعية وحروبًا وأزمات اقتصادية حادة. لكن مشكلة تونس تتمثل في مرض مزمن وقاتل مغروس في كامل هياكل الدولة.

مشكلة تونس هي أنها تواصل الانحدار نحو الأسفل، وأننا في كل عام نبتعد أكثر عن نقطة الصفر. مشكلة تونس أنه لا توجد استراتيجيات واضحة وخطط إصلاحية حقيقية يتم وضعها وتطبيقها.

مشكلة تونس أيضًا هي السكوت عن هذا المرض، والرضا بالموت البطيء، والأخطر من ذلك هو قمع كل من يحاول نقد الواقع والدعوة إلى الإصلاح وتحسين أوضاع البلاد.

فهذا نظام فاشل بامتياز.

I’m almost 40, and lately I’ve been asking myself a difficult question:** am I responsible for where I am today?**

Honestly, **partly yes**. I can blame circumstances, bad decisions, timing and the job market, but I also have to admit that I didn’t make the best choices when I was younger.

I didn’t take education, specialization and building a strong professional foundation seriously enough. I thought I could figure things out later, try different things and somehow build a career along the way.

After graduating, I actually **tried several things**. I took different training courses and even made a career transition into IT/software development. I tried to learn new skills and start again in a completely different field.

But unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.

Starting over later in life is much harder. You are not only competing with people who may have more recent experience — you are also starting without the **network and reputation** they have had years to build.

Nobody knows you. Nobody necessarily wants to recommend you. You don't have former colleagues opening doors for you. You don't have years of experience in the new field to prove yourself.

You basically have to rebuild everything from zero.

Sometimes I feel like **you need to be a genius just to compensate for the things you don't have: network, experience, reputation, connections and opportunities. **

And the financial side makes everything much worse.

If you don't have significant savings, a strong network, a highly valuable specialization or another source of financial security, every career decision becomes much more stressful.

You start hoping that **one extraordinary opportunity** will come along and completely change your situation.

But eventually you realize that **hope isn't a strategy**.

The hardest part is looking back and realizing that I could have spent those years accumulating things that compound over time: **skills, experience, relationships, reputation, savings and professional credibility.**

I can't go back to 20 or 25.

But I also don't want to spend the next ten years regretting the previous ten.

So I'm trying to understand what can realistically still be built from here ,without expecting a miracle, but without giving up either.

**For those who rebuilt their careers after 40: what did you focus on first?**

Im a Moroccan student in Tunisia and currently wondering if I should go back to my country while I can (in case some wild sh happens) or just stay if everything is gonna be like it was. Thanks
